Possible decent sleeper WW Defense? (1 Viewer)

Smells like chicken
so I just grabbed these guys off the wire and after this week vs INDY the schedule looks decent for alot of it.

Just throwing it out there if you didnt grab a decent D and are playing the wire

Houston at Atlanta

Miami at Houston

Houston at Jacksonville

Tennessee at Houston

Houston at San Diego

Houston at Oakland

BYE

New Orleans at Houston

Houston at Cleveland

Houston at Tennessee

Tampa Bay at Houston

Denver at Houston

Houston at Indianapolis

Jacksonville at Houston

Definite waiver wire pickup, just don't start them this week (against Indy) and monitor AJ's situation, as they fell behind by 14 pts early to Carolina before storming back...If the offense sputters, could have negative impact on defense.

I was considering picking them up in a dynasty. They have a lot of young guys who seem to be making big strides here. I could see them being a dominating defense in 2~3 years if they stay healthy and a few key pieces come together. Might seem like a long time to redrafters but thats the way you have to think in Dynasty.

I picked them up at the beginning of the year and started them in week 1 and 2. People were definately sleeping. A lot of positives with Williams and Ryans in year 2 and rookie DT Akoye helping that front 7. Also, the biggest upside - Jacoby Jones returning punts. The guy was phenominal in preseason. I think he has 3 return TDs in him for the year. That was the main reason I grabbed Houston.

I'm not sure if I should be bragging or wearing a bag on my head, but I actually drafted the Texans defense on 3 or 4 teams this year.

i think they will disapper from a lot of wires this week.
Houston disappeared in my leagues last week. I think the sleeper D for the next two weeks is DET, playing PHI and CHI the next two weeks - both teams that have struggling offenses.
Sometimes, you have to look past a WW D when they are playing a bad or struggling O. Detroit is a bad D that plays a style of O that is very pass happy. Martz has never been bothered by the turnover. This gives the other team the ball alot more than a ball control team and prolly any other team for that matter. If Detroit had a lock down or turnover causing D, I'd say fine, but they don't IMHO. I'd pass on Detroit for D.

I wonder how Marinelli feels about turning the ball over.

Picked em up after the game this sunday and checking out their schedule. They definitely have what it takes to put up points

I like the Chiefs this week against the Vikings. They tend to play better at home and the Vikings' passing game is putrid. The Chiefs should be able to get a few turnovers and I don't see this being a high-scoring game.

They have those three big name young guys in Williams, Ryans, and Akoye but who else do they have? I'm not posing that question in a negative manner, I just want to hear some more about this defense and its players more than "they have a favorable schedule" and "they are a good waiver wire pickup". Like TME pointed out, these are three players on defense who could be/ are dominant but is there anything else on the D to get excited about? Who is there coordinater and his track record? etc. Almost all of my knowledge of the NFL is on the offensive side of the ball becuase of Fantasy. I would like to become more knowledgeable about defenses though.

He doesn't seem to mind when Martz chucks it up 45 times and runs it 15 times, so I'm guessing he's OK with it, especially if they keep winning.

Yeah, last week I nabbed the Cincy's D before someone else and they had to "settle" for Houstons! :) ... Boy do I regret that move!
