Possible Sprained Ankle For WR Booker

Source: Harvey Fialkov, South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Original Article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/footbal...story?track=rss

Summary: One play after quarterback Daunte Culpepper elicited gasps from a few hundred fans by diving on top of a fumble during a two-minute drill in Saturday's morning session of this weekend's minicamp, he hit a diving Marty Booker over the middle for what could be a costly completion. Booker, who beat safety Travares Tillman on the play, remained on the ground in obvious pain. He was carted off the field with what HC Nick Saban thinks is a sprained left ankle. Booker left the facility for further evaluation. Slot receiver Wes Welker took his spot on the first team opposite Chris Chambers.

This guy is someone I've got my eye on and hearing that Booker hurt his ankle is "good" news in that he'll get more practice time.(Obviously no disrepect to Booker....ya know what I mean) 400 yards as an undrafted rook was better than most drafted rookie WRs last year. Saban definitely likes him and I'm awaiting reading some quote from Daunte how he's a hustler that catches everything or somesuch this summer.Very interesting young WR, very easy to get via trade in dynasty as he wasn't drafted and he's not "a name".

I'd guess he's got a limitted ceiling to his stats but he might be like Chrebet or Frank Sanders and maybe average 800 yards a year. That should be good enough to be a bye week fill-in and ya need them too in dynasty.

Interesting WR IMO

(KFFL) Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins WR Marty Booker (ankle) did not watch practice Sunday morning, June 11, instead spending the time inside the facility for treatment and rehabilitation. Booker was seen on crutches. Head coach Nick Saban said x-rays taken of Booker's ankle did not reveal any "significant problems," but he was unsure how long Booker would be limited. Sunday was the final workout of the weekend mini camp.

According to FinHeaven and Saban's PC today,Booker had X-Rays and they came back negative. He has 6 weeks to rest until TC begins.Culpepper looks comfortable throwing to him so far in MC and he could be decent value considering how every year an older WR comes our of the woodwork to put up stellar numbers.FWIW,Hagan looked very good this weekend and caught everything thrown at him.Who needs a stinking Senior Bowl performance. He could just be a pleasant find for the Fins

According to Dolphins coach Nick Saban, X-rays of wide receiver Marty Booker's left ankle confirmed the initial analysis of the Saturday injury as a sprain.

''He has no significant problems,'' Saban said. ``He does have a pretty good sprained ankle, but I think he's going to be fine. He may be out for a few days.''

Unlike safety Renaldo Hill, who also has a sprained ankle, albeit less severe, Booker remained inside during Sunday's practice.

''We decided it was more important for him to get treatment inside than stand outside and watch practice,'' Saban said. ``One of the problems with these ankle sprains is swelling. The more you stand around on them, the more swelling you get. It was [trainer] Kevin [O'Neill] and the medical staff's decision -- do we keep a guy in to try to rehabilitate the ankle or do we make him watch practice, which would set him back? It's a little easier to do with veteran players who already know the offense.''

In two seasons with the Dolphins, Booker has started 27 of the 30 games in which he's played. Last season, he averaged 17.6 yards per catch and had three touchdowns on 39 catches.
