Post week 1 waiver wire pick ups (1 Viewer)

OJ freaking Howard??
Probably not. He only had 2 targets. Ask @BobbyLayne about his rules of thumb for TEs.

haha

Yeah OJ Howard is a good football player. Unfortunately the thing he’s always been really good at is blocking. Not enough routes.

But def worth a hope-4-a-TD dart throw if you’re desperate eh.
When you have Njoku (1 catch, 7 yards, 1 target) and Henry (2 catches, 20 yards, 3 targets) at TE makes me very desperate.

Wilson - 49ers RB
Warren - Steelers RB
Duvernay - Ravens WR

Whatcha got?
I like those 3. Maybe I can add another 3 RBs from what I saw today,

Herbert - Chi, (It's only a matter of time so try getting him soon)
Perine - Cin, (Mixon looked banged up, so keep an eye there)
Williams - Det, (short yardage and possible goal line back going forward)

Let me save a few of you from yourselves - do not pick up any Texans. OJ Howard and Burkhead are not viable options even if they become first string. The team is going nowhere.

lost in the blowout

Eno Benjamin picking up some garbage time, after James Connor reminded us he runs with cement shoes on

with 14 minutes left Greg Dortch has 7 catches for 63 (vs 1 for 5 A.J. Green)

then again it's sometimes hard to learn from blowouts bc usage / utilization changes in competitive games

Cards have a few more rough matchups coming and might be behind/in shootouts

I grabbed up Hilliard in 4 leagues before the weekend. I did it as a lotto ticket stash, but they used him quite a bit today. Might be worth a claim.

I would love to see this, and it was a good sign TDP was a healthy scratch but Mitchell went down early and Mason didn't have one opportunity. Wilson is the clear backup, as long as he lasts and, at this point if/when Wilson goes down I would expect them to go after a new starting RB via trade.

Maybe they can trade for Sermon.

They’ve shown the can plug in anyone back there. Why would they make a trade?

I know you're being hyperbolic, but they have a type, and that type is a fast, one-cut runner who doesn't ever hesitate or really look for cutback lanes. They need to scour some more college games for undrafted guys.

Why didn't Mason see a touch? Why was TDP a DNP?

If Mitchell misses time they already have a need. If Wilson proves to be as durable as he has always been, why wouldn't they be in the market for a RB?
There’s been a long pattern of how they’ve done things at RB in SF. They also drafted a RB this year and have a few “emergency list guys”.

After Philly cuts Sermon maybe they’ll bring him back.

I’m not going to argue with you about it - I’ll go by their history.

I'm not looking to argue. I have said in multiple threads that I think Mitchell & Wilson will cobble together 13-15 starts rendering all other RBs on the roster useless. It's true, ask around.

But they only have 4 RBs, if Mitchell misses significant time and Wilson has to be the lead back for long stretch things change.

Wilson may be less durable than Mitchell.

I was simply hypothesizing that if Wilson also goes down for a stretch that leaves two rookies, one who was a healthy scratch today and the other didn't see a touch after Mitchell went down early.

Deebo will likely be the defacto lead back but that doesn't feel like a "stand pat" situation for a team that fancies itself a SB contender.

Perine - Cin, (Mixon looked banged up, so keep an eye there)
Mixon did get his arm taped up at one point - later on I thought it might have been cramps. As a Bengals fan I just don't see Perine as a guy that would be a real fantasy option even if something was up with MIxon. (Though I will say for Perine it was a decent day today) - would have to be a large league for him to hit the radar. It's as likely to bump the passing game in general - as I think they'd end up throwing more as a percentage of plays. If there really was an issue with Mixon in terms of missing time it would mean Chris Evans gets into the game plan more (he didn't today at all) - he's been more of a guy Bengals fans have been keen on seeing play more. Not to throw a wet blanket on things but I'd just recommend realistic expectations on him.
