Dynasty - 12 teamer, 1 Qb/2 RB/3 WR/1 TE/1 PK/2 DL/3 LB/3 DB

QB - Rodgers and Stafford

RB - Charles, McCoy, Peterson, R Bush, Rice, J Best (can't cut him due to cap impact) Dev Squad: Ingram , Michael

WR - D Jax, V Jax, R White, Austin, Roberts, Ford Dev Squad: Jeffery, Kearse, Boyce, Broyles, Kearse, Spadola

TE - Witten, Olsen Dev Squad: Escobar

K - Tucker

DL - Campbell, Houston, Clayborn

LB - Worrilow, Ryans, Roach, DeMario Davis, Wheeler

DB - Ihedigbo, Golson, TJ McDonald, J McCourty, Nelson

WR has killed me this year and Stafford hopefully gets his head clear for next week...
is that Alshon Jeffery on the developmental squad with Andre Roberts, Miles Austin, and Jacoby Ford on the roster?
It is. Not enough cap room to promote him (the other guys were already on the active squad, and I couldn't cut them as they all have multi-year deals, the signing bonus acceleration would have killed me). Tried to trade Rice at the deadline to make room for him, but couldn't get any takers.
wow that's brutal. I guess you can't change things once you are already into a dynasty league like this because long-term contracts are affected but I'd be kind of disappointed in that kind of rule. guess it makes for some interesting decisions that are different than the typical fantasy league
The format of the league is awesome. The salary cap and contract structure essentially create tons of trading opportunities - we average 40-50 trades a year. Downside is, sometimes you can't afford to bring up a player like Jeffery - although that's fairly rare. If I hadn't been greedy and kept all my backs, I would have had room for him. If Jeffery > White is the difference from me winning this week, then I'll kick myself, but otherwise all is good.

My team did not make the championship, in our league it will be the #3 vs #5...all the teams with huge firepower got knocked out over the last two weeks

QB - Russell Wilson v Andrew Luck

RB - McCoy and Lacy v. Forte and Moreno

WR/TE - Calvin/Nelson/Amendola v. Bryant/A Brown/Hilton

K - Tucker v. Prater

DL - Umenyiora/Darius v. Pitoitua/Casey

LB - David/Laurinaitas/Lee v. Ogletree/Washington/Ryans

DB - Moore/Searcy v. Ward/Vacarro

Both teams have a few decent pieces, but these teams are way worse than the teams they knocked out. Nothing like a 1 v 2 matchup in the consolation game.

This team is a testament to the fact that drafting is way overrated sometimes.

12 Team Redraft - Standard Scoring - 1QB - 2RB - 2WR/TE - 1RB/WR/TE Flex - K - DST

Mostly homegrown, but the key pickup that catapulted me into the playoffs and championship game was Foles.

My league is extremely stingy with trades, having only 1 or 2 completed league-wide per year.... so drafting and smart pickups are key.

I looked at all of the rosters of people who posted their championship games line-ups and followed the directions of the thread and mentioned how they acquired each player!!!

A lesson I learned is that picking the right players off of the waiver wire is just as important as drafting the right players. And a key player or two off of the waiver wire can be a key to your championship. This year, teams who acquired the following players off of the waiver wire seem to be making a run to a championship:

Keenan Allen

Zac Stacy

Nick Foles

Andre Brown

Charles Clay

Delanie Walker

Rashad Jennings

Alshon Jeffery

Shane Vereen

16 team PPR keeper league (up to 3 offense and 3 IDP keepers)

QB: Rivers (trade)

RB: Forte (trade), L. Bell (trade), Stacy (FA), Ellington (FA)

WR: K. Allen (FA), Jeffery (trade), V-Jax (trade), C. Patterson (trade), J. Hunter (FA), Goodwin (FA)

TE: Graham (keeper), Reed (FA), L. Green (FA)

K: Feely

LB: Kuechly (draft), J. Beason (FA), V. Rey (FA)

DL: S. Richardson (FA)

DB: J. Cyprien (draft), D. Landry (FA), C. Clemons (FA), L. Webb (FA)

After a 3-5 start I got busy with trading. Turns out that I only still have 2 players that I actually drafted, both IDPs, which is a bit crazy. Graham still on the roster as a keeper. Traded away some decent keeper assets to get stronger for a title run and its worked so far. I've kept some high upside on my bench so that I have more potential keeper options for next year.

One thing I did do this year, especialyl towards the end of the year is de-emphasise IDP and more just play matchups, cycling players through the DL and DB slots in particular.

10 team redraft. .5ppr. 1 keeper

QB-Foles, Palmer(both off waivers)

Drafted Vick, Ben and Bradford, also had Locker for a few weeks.

RB-McCoy (draft), Stacy (waivers), McFadden (draft), D. Brown (waivers). My keeper was TRich in the 3rd. I haven't lost since I dropped him. Lol

WR-Marshall, VJax, DJax and Harvin (all drafted)

TE-V. Davis (draft), Clay (waivers)

K-Forbath (I had Tucker up to his bye)

D-KC, Arizona, Browns (all off waivers) Originally drafted Houston, dropped some scrub RB for KC after week 3, dropped Hou for Zona for the first KC vs Denver game, then picked up Cle for the Jax game (that didn't work out). I'm really tempted to use Cleveland vs Geno this week.

If my math is right, and using your roster as an example, this 12 team league would have around 450 of the 500 or so skill position players (q,r,w,t) rostered at all times.

So presumably your waiver wire would typically consist of not much other than blocking tight ends and fullbacks on any given week in terms of backs, receivers and tight ends.

If that is the case, I don't understand how you'd have guys like Tamme, Streater, Manningham and Josh McCown off of a waiver transaction unless there are teams in your league that carry 20 or 25 defensive players on their roster.

12 team, standard scoring, 1/2/2/1/1/1 with one flex. Went 11-2 and finished 2nd in my own division  but then won my semifinal by 1 on a scoring correction  .

Number indicates draft round, (w) = waivers, (t) = trade.

QB - Kaepernick (5), Dalton (13)

RB - ADP (1), C. Johnson (2), Bernard (7), Bell (10)

WR - Gordon (12), Cooper (w), S. Smith (6), Cruz (4), Hartline (w)

TE - Olsen (8), Fleener (t)

K - Hauschka (16), Bailey (w)

D - Bills (w)

My reward will be facing the 11-2 division winner who "rested his starters" in Week 13 :lmao: and then put up a 200-point game in his semifinal:

QB - Foles (w), Romo (6)

RB - Charles (1), Mathews (5), Stacy (w), Jennings (w), Todman (w)

WR - Marshall (2), K. Allen (t), S. Johnson (8), Patterson (11)

TE - Graham (3), Cameron (12)

K - Gostkowski (14)

D - Panthers (t), Steelers (13)

BTW, I would wager a significant amount that when Yahoo releases their annual list of players on the highest % of championship rosters, Nick Foles will be far and away the #1.

660 roster spots (you can go with as few as 45 on a roster and spend more money per player, but most people stay close to the max), plus currently another 40-ish players on IR.

356 are offensive players. Each week you start 26 players out of a 55 man roster..11 offensive players and 15 other players at 9 different positions (IDPs, coach, team return unit, kick, punter). 40% of your starters are offense, 60% not, but 50% of the rosters are offense. Ratio is about right, though I do think there are a few too many IDP backups for some teams But you definitely have to carry far more than 20 non-offensive players. That isn't even enough to deal with a normal amount of injuries on a non-bye week, let alone on a bye week. I had to carry 6 LBs (start 3) at one point this year just to deal with injuries and byes over a couple of week stretch, plus having Cushing on IR.

Number of things you're not accounting for though. First, not every player I got from BB waivers did I get this year. Some were in the past before they became obvious values, but are still playing out their contract from when I got them from waivers. Off the top of my head, Joqiue Bell was last year, Navarro Bowman was 2 years ago, etc.

You're also neglecting the dynamics of contracts and a hard salary cap. If you're smart you go into the season with almost no cap room left because you spent it all. When there's a potential gem on waivers, and there are plenty even in this kind of setup, you have to cut someone to free up the money for your bid in most cases. Players who are cut have their contracts reset (no cap penalty), so cutting a viable but overpaid player in an attempt to get him back is not just a viable option, it is often a smart one. Rookies have set salaries by round based on average of vet salaries, and a lot of rookies end up overpriced and cut in the first 2 years. On top of it, you have players where this is the final year of their contract and they aren't worth a Franchise tag. Teams have less money to spend in season and sometimes you are better off cutting the player and getting him back on a new contract even if it is at the same salary, rather than wait until he hits the vet auction where a lot of players end up getting overpaid. Some owners cut a lot of players who go on IR to not carry their salary all year. I'm the opposite, I try to scoop up as many of those players as I can get at below what I think they are worth the next year.

I have two examples above in my roster. I had Foster who was insanely cheap thanks to my getting him as a late round rookie, and Owen Daniels who I overpaid for in the vet auction but he was the only TE and it was my biggest hole. Both were in the last years of their contract, can't be extended, and not realistic options for me to tag as either not worth the price, or I can't afford it. I cut both near the end of the year, and was able to get both back at cheaper than what they would go for in the vet auction as other teams didn't want to dump the active player's they'd have needed to match my bids on a couple of guys who are on IR now (luckily I had freed up some cap room with a trade or I couldn't have afforded my bids either). Even if someone had paid vet auction prices for them, by dumping them midseason, this counts as a contract year, so the team who would outbid me would get 1 less year of their services at that price than if they got them in the offseason.

Also remember that just because a Josh McCown has value in week 15 doesn't mean he was worth much until Cutler got hurt. Tamme hasn't been worth rostering until Julius Thomas got hurt... and the only reason I had Tamme was after I made it through bye weeks and could dump some IDP backups, he was there and I figured he might have value if Thomas got hurt. There are a lot of NFL backup QBs available still, which is something I agree other owners in my league do wrong. Streater was a rookie pick.. Manningham was cut rather than carry his salary on IR by his original team. There really shouldn't be an NFL backup available on waivers in this format, IMHO. But then having a system that requires this many value judgments is what makes it fun, and keeps it from being a cookie cutter league that anyone can do well in without understanding how to figure out value for themselves.

Blind Lucky making it to my championship game.

QB - Romo or Cousins

RB - Ray Rice

RB - Ryan Mathews

WR - Josh Gordon

WR - DeSean Jackson

TE - Gates or Eifert

Flex - Todman or Fitzgerald

K - Vinateri

D - Browns

Redraft league with 1 mandatory keeper, non-ppr, pretty standard scoring except with bonus points @ 100 yards and bonus points for TDs over 50 yards.

Starters:

QB: N. Foles (ww) - drafted Romo late, but got tired of him and the Cowboys so I cut him

RB: M. Forte (rd 2) -- great player, but would have even more value in PPR league

RB: J. Todman (ww) - rotated a lot of guys in this spot throughout the year but C. Johnson was the main guy. R. Mathews, L.Miller, and MJD made appearances early in the year when they all sucked... short rosters and their under-performing early caused me to bail too early on Mathews and MJD

WR: C.Johnson (rd 1- keeper)

WR: B.Marshall (rd 3)

TE: D. Walker (ww) - drafted J.Cameron late, but got tired of his multiple weeks under 50 yards and cut him the week he blew up... lol

Flex: D. Jackson (rd 7 or 8?) - drafted him late and have been really happy with this pick

PK: J. Tucker (ww) - won my game last week due to the 61 yard FG :pickle:

DT: D. Lions (ww) -- going against Eli

Bench:

DT: KC. Chiefs (draft - late) -- pretty much rode these guys all the way to the DEN,SD,DEN stretch then streamed defenses since then

RB: C. Johnson (rd 4) -- tough start, but had a pretty good stretch until recently

RB: D. Williams (ww) -- was cut a few weeks ago when he was hurt... picked him up for insurance but has never seen my lineup

WR: P. Garcon (ww) -- was cut last week because the owner is stacked at WR and had a bunch of injuries at RB... want to get him in the lineup but not sure which WR to sit?

DT: C. Browns (ww) -- trying to block my opponent

14-team $$$ league, standard scoring (no PPR)

Start 1QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/RB/TE flex

QB: Rivers (Draft - 12), Foles (Waiver)

RB: Charles (D - 1), Rainey (W), Ridley (D - 2 ugh), M Bell (W)

WR: VJackson (D - 4), Gordon (D - 8), Decker (D - 5), K Allen (W), Cooper (W)

TE: Graham (D - 3)

D: SEA (D - 10)

Went 9-4, after starting 0-2... won the division and have #1 seed. Struggled w/ RB2 most of the year w/ ridley's issues.

Time to bring home another trophy!!

Good luck everyone.

I'll post it if/when ####### Rodgers gets his #### into the lineup. He would be my flex in a 15 team league that is high in scoring for QBs. But, in case he does not play....................unique lineup requirements and scoring, more heavily weighted towards yards, and there are no points for receptions so WR and TE and worth a lot less:

QB- Brees

RB- Gore

RB- Mathews

WR- Kennan Allen

WR- Jordy Nelson

WR- Marlon Brown (was using stevie johnson, and have harvin, booo)

TE- Julius Thomas

K- Hauschka or prater, take your pick.

IDP- Patrick Willis]

Optional player (can be anything)- Amazingly, will be whichever kicker I dont use, or Delanie Walker

Rookie (must start either a rookie or a 2nd kicker)- Leveon Bell.

16 team td auction league

QB: Newton (starting over Tannehill)

RB: Matthews

RB: C. Johnson (starting over Rice and Todman)

WR: AJ Green

WR: Alshon Jeffery

Flex: V Jax

TE: Ertz (just picked up to replace Jared Cook, who replaced string of underperforming TE throughout the season. Rolling the dice here)

K: Ryan Succop

D: Chargers (playing them over Miami's D, but having second thoughts)

Was 2-6 seven weeks ago.

Haven't lost since.

In three title games. All are dynasty leagues

Team 1 (won a week 15 title. 10 team PPR, Superflex, must start 2 tight ends)

QB - Cam Newton, Phillip Rivers

RB - Jamaal Charles, Demarco Murray, Knowshon Moreno

WR - AJ Green, Pierre Garcon, Anquan Boldin

TE - Jordan Cameron, Jared Cook (had injuries to Reed and Graham)

FLEX - Danny Woodhead

Team 2 (12 team PPR)

QB - Phillip Rivers

RB - Lesean McCoy, Knowson Moreno

WR - Josh Gordon, Danny Amendola, Golden Tate

TE - Greg Olsen

FLEX - Dennis Pitta

This is an interesting team because I'm missing two of my top players, Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb. This was the second year of a rebuild and I was not expecting to put together a championship level team this year.

Team 3 (12 team PPR, Full IDP)

QB - Cam Newton

RB - Jamaal Charles, Zac Stacy, Knowshon Moreno, Gio Bernard

WR - Brandon Marshall, Pierre Garcon, Julian Edelman, Dwayne Bowe

TE - John Carlson

DT - Kendall Langford

DE - Greg Hardy, Justin Tuck

LB - Thomas Davis, David Harris, Geno Hayes (if he plays), Derrick Johnson

CB - Bradley Fletcher, Chris Harris

S - Bernard Pollard, Aaron Williams

12 Team non-ppr:

QB: Foles

RB: Jamaal Charles

RB: Leveon Bell

WR: Demaryius Thomas

WR: Roddy White

WR: Keenan Allen

TE: Julius Thomas

WR/RB: Bobby Rainey

WR/TE: Rueben Randle

K: Gostoswski

DEF: Kansas City

Bench: Stafford, Andre Brown, Boykin, D Pitta, Dennis Johnson, Steven Jackson

Dynasty, 12 teams, 2011 startup, .75 PPR RB, 1 PPR WR, 1.25 PPR TE, 4 points passing TD.

22 rosters, 3 man taxi.

Start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, D, K, one flex(RB,WR, TE).

I was lowest seeded team to qualify for playoffs and had to get on a run to get to that spot so it's not like this team was killing it all season.

Likely starting lineup and how acquired:

QB-Kaepernick. I think I drafted him with late pick in startup but can't recall to be sure, if not was cheap FA pickup in 2011. I know he spent last two years locked on my taxi squad. This was his first year being active and it was mostly bad.

RB- Lacy- rookie pick 1.7

RB- Spiller- Traded Jimmy Graham for him straight up this off season. Bad deal but I'm just listing out how it happened, not patting myself on back.

WR- Antonio Brown- acquired via trade this off season in deal that involved me trading Stafford and receiving AB, Greg Olsen and Alex Smith.

WR- Julian Edelman- acquired via blind bidding FA last year.

WR- Fitzgerald- first pick of startup which I think was pick 1.11 in 2011. Very uncertain he'll start this week and if not will be for players obtained in waivers.

TE- Olsen- acquired in previously notated Antonio Brown trade

TE- Griffin- acquired on waivers last week and I think it was after blind bidding so FCFS.

K-Bailey- blind bid waiver pickup few weeks ago

Rams-blind bid waiver pickup yesterday

So starting lineup is madeup of a lot of cheap acquisitions. The bench is actually were I poured most of my investment.

QB- Alex Smith- Acquired in previously mentioned Stafford trade.

QB- I feel the need to list Josh McCown but I actually cut him yesterday so he's no longer on the team. Acquired him as FA and without him I lose first week of playoffs so got to give him a mention.

RB- Doug Martin- rookie pick 1.2

RB- D McFadden- acquired in trade this off season that involved me sending Gore/Roddy/Danario for J Graham/DMC/James Jones.

RB- Ben Tate- acquired in trade this off season that involved me sending Mikel Leshoure and also netting a second round pick which I think was 2.10.

RB-Marcus Lattimore- rookie pick 1.10 which was acquired by trading that second round pick I got in Tate/Leshoure deal and Tony Gonzalez for pick 1.10. He's spent year locked on taxi squad as he should have been.

RB-Pierre Thomas- I think he was drafted on 2011 startup and always managed to stick around because he's to good to cut and no one will give me anything for him.

RB- Latavius Murray who was just added yesterday via waivers so has had no part of the team till now.

WR- James Jones- acquired in previously referenced DMC trade.

WR- Cecil Shorts- waiver pickup in 2012

WR- Harry Douglas- waiver pickup this season

WR-Reggie Wayne- acquired via trade for Lance Moore this off-season, after he blew is ACL.

WR- Andre Caldwell- Just picked him up today and he he or Douglass might get start over Fitz.

TE-Garret Graham- waivers in 2012

TE- Tim Wright- waivers in 2013

TE-Dennis Pitta- waivers in 2012

Finally have Ryan Mallett and Dion Sims on taxi squad, both mid round rookie draft pickups.

That was kind of interesting. Never broke down a how acquired before and had not realized until now how little I've got out of my startup draft picks and how key trading and FA were, even with some trades not going well.

12-team redraft, 0.5 ppr

Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D/ST

QB: Romo, Cutler

RB: Reggie Bush, Eddie Lacy, Andre Brown, Trent Richardson, Pierre Thomas, Danny Woodhead

WR: Demaryius Thomas, Antonio Brown, Keenan Allen

TE: Greg Olson, Dennis Pitta

K: Nick Novak

D/ST: Detroit, Tennessee
