Potential league winners currently FAs? (1 Viewer)

Saw this as a fun concept online. Which, in most leagues, undrafted player currently sits as a FA but has the potential to be league winners? Someone who is flying SUPER under the radar but has the potential to completely pop off?

emanuel wilson. sure, he kinda sucks. but if jacoba goes down the pack are screwed. and they love to run, especially in the winter. loyd can't stay healthy and the team just bolstered their defense to elite status. 20 touches for 4 yards and a cloud of dust and maybe a td is excellent for your flex when ya need it most

Anthony Richardson. Aside from the Broncos week two, the Colts aren't facing any world beaters at defense. That said I believe so strongly that Jones is going to beef it that they will need to go back to Richardson. Will he be good enough at real football to keep the job? Probably not. Can he get you RB numbers at QB on any given week? You bet he can.

My answer to this question is Blake Corum. Rookies tend to struggle in the McVay offense (Puka was a giant outlier) and I think Corum is ahead of Hunter should something happen to Kyren. Another RB I think might apply here is Rico Dowdle. He wasn't that different than Hubbard last year, and I think he's clearly ahead of Etienne for the #2 job. As a bonus, he's not a projection, we've just seen him be a 1,000-yard rusher.

Good discussion idea….

Hollywood Brown - KC WR
Only 28 yo with knucklehead Rice & ancient TE Kelce as potential for missing time. Worthy will draw heavy coverage leaving Brown as viable option

Keaton Mitchell - Batl RB
Viable King Henry backup with higher ceiling than often injured Justice Hill

Currently undrafted in my 14 team, 14 player redraft league...

Dont'e Thornton, flashed in camp and preseason. Looks like Randy Moss, size and speed of Moss, but limited production in college with highlight reel production on go routes and deep posts, a Gino specialty. Listed as 4th WR now that Cooper signed, but definitely better than Tre Tucker.

Jalen Coker. The assumption is that Tetairoa will be a target monster, but that's TBD.

Darren Waller. Is he OBJ 2.0, or Jonnu Smith 2024?

Ty Johnson as a Cook handcuff. 3rd string behind Cook and Davis, but he was used more than Davis in the playoffs.

Emanuel Wilson. Maybe an equal runner to Jacobs, also has explosive plays mixed in. But the team likes Chris Brooks for his blocking and receiving skills. If Jacobs went down, Wilson could be a league winner with a good oline and great coach.

Update to Coker (see Coker thread):

>>Panthers re-sign WR Hunter Renfrow to 53-man roster and place WR Jalen Coker on injured reserve with a quad injury he suffered in practice Thursday.Renfrow could have an immediate role in Carolina’s offense.<<

Love the Tucker call. Hate the Monangai one. He’s not going to score enough points to be a league winner. He’s lucky if he’s a “nice player” in the pros. He’s not a fantasy stud.

Imagine a rookie WR with 9 targets in the preseason, 1 nice back shoulder TD catch from the starting QB, an earned DPI, and 2 more potential long TDs missed due to bad QB play.

Here are a few names:

Sean Tucker
Damian Pierce
Monangai
Josh Palmer
Pierce certainly has my attention. He looked like a poor man's Marshawn Lynch as a rookie, and then just disappeared. Still pretty young, and in a division where the only team that plays defense is the team he's on. I'd love it if Chubb could turn back the clock (not a Browns or Texans fan, just always have liked Chubb) but that feels like wishful thinking.

I think Josh Palmer could be just annoying enough to prevent anyone else from breaking out in Buffalo, but I'd be pretty shocked if he suddenly was a guy with league winning upside. He's had 4 years with a great QB in less cluttered offenses to prove himself.

ok .. but, if he fills the Jamaal Williams role for Ben Johnson? 12-15 TD's? Hes one of the cheapest potential double digit TD makers around.

I guess. But there are much better players than him that might see a lane clear up. I’d rather have a go at that kind of probability. Everybody’s mileage may vary.

I’m just lodging the argument that even if he gets the opportunity they’ll be slamming a square peg into a round hole and whatever touchdown gains there are would be offset by the lack of use in between the twenties.

But you’re right in that if you get a determined enough coach you can make a lot of average or below average players into fantasy studs. He certainly doesn’t have much competition in that backfield.

If the Bears offense is anywhere near as good as the 2022 Lions, Ben Johnson easily wins coach of the year, and the Bears likely win the division.

The only Bears team to ever score as many TDs as the 2022 Lions, was the legendary 1985 Bears, and even then, that was with 7 defensive TDs.
