PPR Wide Receivers (1 Viewer)

We always hear how Westy, Bush and other RB's have greater value in a PPR league. In a 1 PPR league which WR's do think have greater value compared to a non PPR league.

Andre and Coles

Welker

While many put Calvin on a pedestal and knock Furrey down in typical leagues, Furrey could still have some value in PPR leagues. I think (starting the season if not all) Reche Caldwell could be similar. There's a comfort level with those two that the QB won't necessarily forget on some key 3rd downs and as a "reliable" backup to a starter that is expected to get big plays(and sit for a sec after em') ....there's a good chance Caldwell and Furrey are underestimated in PPR leagues IMO.

For whatever reason, I've always felt anyone outside of the Bills #1 is only valuable in PPR leagues and not typical for a long time now. Evans+Moulds together might have broken that up but it's been a pretty good quick theory or thought for a long time. This year, for example, Price has been undrafted or drafted real late but I could see him coverring a bye while the rest of the drafters are picking players they may never play.

Driver and Coles come to my mind. I also like Andre Johnson this year though too. He and Shaub should be able to click. AJ is a PPR stud if he can stay healthy.

Possession WRs that get a lot of targets benefit in PPR leagues and deep threats lose value.

Coles is a good example of a guy that gains value. Keyshawn in the past would be a good example. Maybe a guy like Hines Ward would gain value too. Basically, guys that catch a lot of passes, but for shorter YPCs are the guys that benefit most at the WR position.

AJ, Cotchery, Coles (odd to see both Jets increase in value, but that's due to Pennington), MAYBE Mike Furrey, and Deion Branch.

Basically, look for WRs with low TD totals and low YPR.

FWIW, certain TEs increase much more than the WRs do.

I like:

AJ

Driver

Housh

Coles

Cotchery

Evans

I try to get these types of WRs over the higher profile ones. Housh was wr3 in ppr last year and Driver was wr8. Very solid.

In a PPR, why Evans? I like the player a lot, but more so in non-PPR. Out of the top 12 WRs by yardage, he had the lowest # of receptions (tied with Roy Williams). He's your classic big play WR, the opposite of the Keyshawns/Cotchery's of the NFL.

He was WR8 in my PPR league last year. I expect him to improve with another yr hooking up w/ Losman

The WRs that had the highest Rec/standard scoring FP in the top ten last year were:

Torry Holt .52

Donald Drive .51

top 20:

Andre Johnson .70

Laverneus Coles .62

Mike Furrey .68

Jericho Cotchery also was notable with .60

Ronald Curry .79

Arnaz Battle .67

I agree that he's a great player and a solid value in any format. My only point is he's not a WR with greater value in PPR than in non-PPR.

He's a good WR in any format, but you are right in that most of his points don't come from receptions. In the top 10 last year the only WRs to have a lower rec/FP ratio were TO (.43) and Javon Walker (.39). Lee Evans had .46.

The Bills were 31st in the NFL last year in Pass attempts. He still had 82 catches. I expect it to improve some with one more year havingg Evans and Losman working together. I hear what you are saying, OZ. I just see Evans as value in my PPR leagues when he gets drafted around WR10 in PPR startups.
