My wife's comment is "then he should go be an accountant".

From the news: MIN - Tori Gurley turns team down - Sat Dec 17, 12:29 AM

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Friday, Dec. 16, that Green Bay Packers WR Tori Gurley elected to remain on that team's practice squad rather than join the active roster of the Vikings. 'He and his agent obviously must feel pretty good about it,' Frazier said. 'They made a decision.'

It happens.

If Gurley likes his position with the Packers, it makes sense to not sever the relationship for three games with a team going nowhere.

He has been with the Packers since the summer, and probably feels like he has a better shot of going to their camp next year, as they have him on the taxi squad, and making the team. The Vikes could cut him after one game.

My guess is, to the Vikings, he's just a guy. To the Pack, they are thinking he can contribute down the road.

While on the Packers practice squad in 1998, Matt Hasselbeck turned down an offer from the Bears to not only join their active roster, but actually start several games from them after all 3 of their QBs were injured.

I'm sure many would disagree, but it sure seems like kind of a terrible decision. He didn't get a chance to start in the NFL until three years later in Seattle. He could have easily asserted himself as the Bears QB going forward, but... maybe he just didn't think he was ready.

Man, I guess the Packers practice squad is pretty awesome? Maybe free donuts? Or cheese?

Plus, Donald Driver is wrapping up his career.

If I was offered a job with slightly more pay but I had to leave Wisconsin and go to Minnesota...I'd pass too.

Edit: You can tell I've been out of the FFA for a while. No way I'd set myself up for a McDonald's joke like that a year ago.

With Donald Driver getting up there in age and James Jones likely leaving for free agency (I think), it's probably a wise move to stay in GB.

This is likely Driver's last season and Gurley is the front runner for that spot next year. Why not stay on a better team with a better QB, thus a better chance of having success down the road. Yes has has good competition in front of him, but the Packers use all their receivers so he will get his chance if he is as talented as they say. The Packers did bump up his pay to league minimum so all he is misisng out on is 3 games with a bad Vikings team. If a Packers WR goes down he may actually find himself playing in the playoffs. i would much rather see him out there than Swain who had to play last year after Driver got hurt.

Brian Brohm made that mistake. If he had stayed on the Packers practice squad and went through McCarthy's. QB school he might have a real shot at a career.

If this gurl wants to wear sweatshirts and ballcaps and hand out water bottles it says alot about what kind of heart he has. Any real man would want to get out and compete not run scout team routes.

I know sometimes teams will pay a practice squad player more money to keep them. The Saints have done that with Adrian Arrington now for a few years. They also did it with Chase Daniel who is now their backup QB.
