***Pre-Game Thread*** New Orleans at Seattle (1 Viewer)

The poor Oline play and the lack of a run game have caused Brees to have to create things on his own. He has been rushed into trying to fit things in tight windows all while opposing defenses have not respected the Saints run game and have come after him. Atlanta blitzing Brees 30+ times is a prime example. Brees turned the ball over twice. But Brees also won the ball game. Hopefully the run game picks up in these playoffs even in spite of the injuries. It begins with the offensive line earning their pay checks. There are a couple of probowlers on that line too that need to step up.

Some Saints tweets from today

"Payton said there was no structural damage to Jenkins' knee. Said they'll pay attention to rehab schedule with him."

Payton on his TEs: "In the case of both Dave and Jeremy, their week has gone well. And Jimmy (Graham) is feeling much better."

Payton on Graham: " News with Jimmy has been good in that a day and a half, he’s feeling a lot better than he was earlier in the week..."

Todays injury/practice report:

DNP - M. Jenkins, A. Hargrove, J. Graham, D. Clark

Full - J. Shockey, D. Thomas, M. Colston, A. Waters

Coach Payton said all the players that did not practice today will travel to Seattle tonight with the team.

Loading up on dem dar Saints for the fantasy playoffs with 4 out of 8 going this weekend.

QB: Brees

RB: Bush

WR: Meachem

D/ST: Saints

Go Saints! :goodposting:

Saints '10 TE Production:

103 Reseptions

995 yards

10 TDs

Once Graham left, the Saints had 1 TE dressed, 4th stringer Troy Humphrey. The Saints can win without RBs, they can't win without TEs. If 2 of the 3 play the whole game, Saints win. If not, I get a little scared.

I too was hoping for the Rams to win.. Dome game, less travel., rookie QB.I am realy surprised no one here is mentioning the Hass vs Whitehurst issue. Whitehurst does not scare me at all. Hass is a vet and he slung it well vs the Saints in the Dome. Also NO had problems against supposedly chalenged offenses and inspired defenses vs the Cards and Browns. Bad teams play a good game and come in with a strategy to win and pull it off. Looking at those two games the Saints had major yardage advantage and more scoring opportunities and in the end you were left with a headscratcher as to just how they lost that game. The running game has not returned and now we are maybe looking at Bush, Julius and Wynn??? Yikes. This is the Saints - we should never be overconfident or arrogant, we are at our best when hopeful. Not feeling great about this one. If I had to bet I would bet the Saints to cover if Whitehurst starts, not so if Hass starts.
 really? I actually wish that Hass was still here, lol.I doubt you have seen Hass and Whitehurst play too often if you think so highly of Hass. Hass has been one of the worst QBs in the entire league for 3 years now. This year he has a QB rating of 73, which means that there are only 3 qualified QBs in the league with a worse rating than Hasselbeck: Clausen, Derek Anderson and Favre. His TD to INT ratio is 12/17, the only QBs in the league with more INTs have a positive ratio. This has not only been going on this year but for the last 3 years. His QB ratings for the last 3 years: 73, 75, 58 (only played 7 games). He is beyond atrocious. The only game he did well in was against the Saints earlier in the year, and the team scored 19 points I believe. Whitehurst in his 2nd ever start against the Rams last week, played very conservative football, and the team scored 16 points in a defensive duel.I think the people who believe in Hass are the people who haven't really seen the guy play over the last 3 years and are only going by name recognition. "hey, isn't hass the guy who led the Seahawks to the superbowl! He must be good, the wily vet." The guy has like 14 turnovers over his last 4 games. A ridiculous number.
How dare you question Hass. Hass wants the ball and Hass is gonna score!

They are up agains the SuperBowl champion Saints. The NFL's "darlings," the team that just "deserves to win" since they are from NO, a great and kind team that was key in brining up an entire city, perhaps the whole state....in fact, some overzealous would say the country and the WORLD! The Saints, what a perfectly named team to save the world, no?
The Saints didn't "deserve to win" last year. They just beat everybody.Going 11-5 the next year with all the injuries the Saints have had just proves that it wasn't a fluke. Can we lose this game?? Of course. We lost to the Cardinals this season. This is the NFL and anything can happen.
Geez, you Saints fans really need to lighten up. I never said that they didn't earn their victory. I was making a comment on how the NFL media see the Saints. Although, let's be honest, last year's Vikings were the best team in football. 6 TOs will lose a game for you though. And I was rooting for the Saints the entire way. I love their offense, and Bush was my favorite in college. Plus, I like Brees and how no one gave him his due because he's not 6'5 240.

What happened to being honest? "The best team in football" doesn't turn it over that many times. You're not very good at this.

And people never look at the special teams play in that Vikings game.. but I'm not going to bother rehashing the stats.

We executed, they didn't. End of story.

I was making a comment on how the NFL media see the Saints.
ESPN and NFL network have a ton of time to fill and the Saints story provided plenty of material. Whoever makes a run this year will have the same wall-to-wall coverage. There's no preferential treatment. And really, the Saints were largely forgotten this season until beating the Falcons.

Shockey and Thomas are go. They'll be there.

As an unbiased observer, this is completely true. For the most part, the NFC talk until that game was the Falcons, Eagles Giants and the Packers - and whatever bad team was going to come out of the West. The Bears and Saints were mostly a throw in line about wildcard possibilities.

You know, that's true, and if you think about it.... the Saints might be even more motivated than the Seahawks. That's probably worth discussing.

this is kind of funny... I was on the Falcon's website and they listed all the playoff teams... Notice something missing from Seattle? http://www.atlantafalcons.com/playoffs/

1. Atlanta (13-3, NFC South champion)

2. Chicago (11-5, NFC North champion)

3. Philadelphia (10-6, NFC East champion)

4. Seattle (NFC West champion)

5. New Orleans (11-5)

6. Green Bay (10-6)

American Football Conference:

1. New England (14-2, AFC East champion)

2. Pittsburgh (12-4, AFC North champion)

3. Indianapolis (10-6, AFC South champion)

Huh?Because someone responded to your nonsense they're petty? Pissed off? You may want to try again. As to Minn being better:NO had the better recordNO had the better point differentialNO had the tougher schedule (beat an undefeated NYJ in week 4, undefeated NYG in week 5, and an elite NE team in week 12 en route to a 13-0 start)NO beat 3 eventual HOF QBs to win (Peyton, Warner, Favre). But yeah, other than all that, Minn was the best team in football last year.

:goodposting:As he said, you're not very good at this. I never get tired of hearing that the Vikes were" the best team in football", yet they didn't even make it to the Superbowl, much less win it. You and Gopher State are just bitter. Get over it!

Can't believe I'm really going to miss the game at work. Saints are about the only other team in the NFC I'd care to win it so IF they manage to win, good luck to them and I hope there aren't more injuries. If, on the other hand Seattle pulls out a miracle...

...the next game better not be on ####### Saturday again!

:lmao: Sorry you're gonna have to miss it. Good luck today!! :lmao:

Heading to a friend's apartment in Manhattan for some shrimp and grits and then it's off to the bar for some heavy drinking and football.

Good luck to all.

It will be a travesty if NO doesn't score atleast 35 points.
Travesty? They recently played Seattle at home. If they don't score more points, on the road, with a more banged-up team, it will be a travesty? Can it happen? Sure. I don't expect Seattle to win, but the hyperbole I've been reading all week is the real travesty.

Seahawks' beer solution: Buy pint, get four ounces free

CBSSports.com wire reports

Jan. 8, 2011

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks enter the playoffs with a losing record. But the team's beer-drinking fans are starting off with a win.

The team investigated after a video posted on YouTube demonstrated that the large and small beers sold at Qwest Field contained the same amount of liquid -- even though one was marked 20 ounces and cost $1.25 more than the one marked 16 ounces.

The findings? The cups that were marked as containing 16 ounces actually held 20 ounces of beer.

First and Goal, the organization that runs Qwest Field, says it will try to find out how long the smaller-beer drinkers have been getting an extra 4 ounces.

For Saturday's game against the New Orleans Saints, the stadium is selling all 20-ounce domestic brews at the 16-ounce price.

Hawk fans will be juiced up

See? This guy who posted the Youtube video should have measured the amount first. If he did, he coulda kept his mouth shut and started buying 20oz beers at 16oz prices all the time. In the end, the fans have been making out!!!

shocked the entire second half, even was certain "here comes Brees."

I was so wrong predicting this one.

Kudos to the Seahawks

And I thought cockroaches would scatter quickly when the lights get turned on. They've got nothing on the Saint fan. Where is all that mouth now?
