Lots of good things to pay attention to in tonight's game, including but not limited to:

- Jim Sorgi's performance in the wake of the negative reports coming out about Peyton Manning's knee.

- Trent Edwards progression towards his first full year as a starter.

- Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeney appearances?

- Paging Marshawn Lynch to the national spotlight.

- Which side of the fence Marvin Harrison will lean to as to if he's washed up or the same old Marvin.

- Possible shots of Peyton Manning's knee.

- Unfortunately, possibly some new Peyton Manning commercials?

I'm sure I missed several dozen things. The floor is open! What are you going to paying special attention to?

I don't think there will be a lot learned from this game (compared to your average 2nd to last preseason game). Trent Edwards isn't playing (nor is James Hardy). The Colts are sitting a bunch of players from their DL - and a couple of players from their OL. I think the Colts will only really care about getting out of this game without injuries, and hoping that Sorgi doesn't look awful.

The reason to watch the game is to get a glimpse of the new stadium. Hopefully the roof will be open.

Is Edwards supposed to play? I thought he banged up a knee in practice.

Im watching to see the stadium, and for Anthony Gonzalez

Ooh, I didn't know Trent Edwards wasn't playing. That dampens the mood a little bit. I guess the primary focus for QB's will be how Jim Sorgi plays then. Any Mike Hart dynasty owners out there?

I'm actually excited to see what Losman does with the start. I think he has something to prove and has looked better than Edwards at times this preseason. Not sure if Parrish is playing or not, but he has been looking great and the coaches are really trying to get him involved more. It just stinks that Hardy is not there to help him out. But Evans is....

I'm also looking forward to seeing the Bills line without Peters. How the line plays tonight will determine who will break first. If the Bills O-line looks good without him then I think Peters backs down and reports. If they look awful then I can see the Bills offering him a new contract before the start of the season.

Could it be the quarterback equivalent of the Stewart/Williams debate? Maybe all Losman needed was for a capable young QB to come in and say, hey look at me, I can play better than you, to get his ### in gear? I don't think that will be the case but you brought up an interesting point and it parallels really closely to the Stewart/Williams situation.Oh and I'll be paying close attention to Fred Jackson as well. My buddy refuses to pick him up as a handcuff for Lynch so I'm debating spending a late round flier on him should he continue to impress.

</Shameless bump since it's closer to game time now and I likely posted this far too soon earlier today>

Dynasty league players should be watching Colt WR Pierre Garcon. He has been very impressive so far.
Will do. I've been hearing good things about him!For more on Pierre Garcon so you don't have to post "Who's that" in here, read up on him some more right here. There's also a post in there that is one of the three funniest things I have ever read on these forums.

Is there a chance Sorgi could lose the #2 spot (#1 if Peyton's knee is worse) if he plays poorly tonight?
I completely forgot they had Quinn Gray! He's actually regular season battle tested and can make plays with his legs, which is something Colts fans haven't seen from their QB in something like 500 years.. :nerd:

Cant see the game on TV in Canada , they televise the studip olympics closing ceremonies . Any place i can see it on the net .

Thanks.

1) Can Jim Sorgi complete passes downfield?

So far, he's been very conservative and checked down a lot. Some of this is probably due to the Colts running a vanilla pre-season offense, but as the possibility of a Sorgi start in week 1 becomes more likely, I'm looking for any reason for optimism.

-sub question: can Quinn or Lorenzen press for Sorgi's backup QB job?

2) Is Marvin Harrison back?

I still haven't seen a play that demanded an impressive effort from Harrison (mostly short routes that lesser receivers could have run successfully). I doubt the Colts show much, but it would be nice to see something that showed Harrison is back to being an elite receiver.

3) Can Freeney get to the QB?

Without pressure on the QB, the Colts D is even more vulnerable than most.

4) What can Pierre Garcon do?

I agree with those above in being impressed with his play so far.

Sterling Sharp is a good color commentator... but his play-by-play makes me long for Bryant Gumbel, Mike Patrick or a drunk Pat Summerall.

Yeah, but he's still doing a better job than I ever thought he'd be capable of. I'm surprised that he's keeping himself in check playing the straight man as well as he is. Of course he did refer to the atmosphere in the stadium tonight as "eletric" though.

I can't say for sure at the moment, but Deion Sanders would definitely be a candidate if I were picking three play-by-play announcers to narrate my everyday life.

"OOH! FRUIT LOOPS! DEEEEELICIOUS.. EXCELLENT PICK!"

"They probably like Jared Lorenzen better than Quinn Gray."

Uhh.. why? Any logical explanations for that? I got nothin..

Wasn't Quinn Gray the backup for Jacksonville last year? I thought he did a good job behind Garrard. How the hell is 4th on the depth chart here?

Has Jason Peters reported to the Bills yet? Is he playing? If he's at LT, I feel better about drafting Lynch.

Nope. He hasn't even contacted the Bills. Peters' holdout is turning out to be the anti-Shark move of the Bills' 2008 season.

from rotoworld:
Bills LT Jason Peters doesn't plan to report to the team "anytime soon," according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. This is about as serious a holdout as they get. While it seems unlikely that Peters would pass up weekly in-season checks, there have been no recent negotiations. Peters is dissatisfied with his $3.3 million salary. Aug. 24 - 8:30 pm et

You could've just as easily just said Pat Summerall, right? My favorite quote so far:"Is it me or does this Colts team look like an average team without Peyton Manning?"
