Prediction: Titans will be a top 5 DEF in 2007 (1 Viewer)

Stat: Atlanta had SIX drives that started in Titans territory yesterday...and scored a grand total of 3 points off of them.Yes, I know that is partly the fault of The Piano Man and Gary Coleman...but, come on, that is serious shut down.
That's sort of worrisome... The thing that hurts this defense is actually VY. If he turns the ball over as much as he did last week against a GOOD offense..... oof.
The titans like to establish the run and if they do they run, run, and run some more... Perfect offense for a fantasy defense.

If VY has a decent game, TB will be lucky to score 14 points!!! Garcia will be under constant pressure. If Peyton was harrassed...Garcia definitely will be under pressure. I see Tampa having multiple turnovers and several sacks against them....But I'm a homer

Anyone have a comment on why FBG has the Titans so low on their week 6 cheatsheets? Are they assuming that the head-stepper isn't gonna play? For that matter, IS the head-stepper gonna play?

Makes no sense to me...Haynesworth did not practice, but should play. He has been terrific, but is not the sole reason the Titans are improved this year.

If you look at the FBG "D" rankings this week, there are a few out of whack...Maybe Dodds can help us out on this one?

Bump

WMI - gotta love the homerism but we are not even one third in the season. Cool it for another couple of games, right -
Well, we are halfway though the season -- can I talk about this yet?
Titans are #3 in total yards allowed. Pitt/Balt are 1 and 2 and they play tonight.
Titans are #1 in yard per play average allowed.
Titans are #6 in lowest 3rd down conversion % allowed.
Titans are #4 in time of possession; getting the other team's O off the field.
Titans are #2 in avg. points allowed per game.
Titans are #4 in forcing turnovers. *Turnover margin, though, is not great due to the offense giving it up.Now, here's the other side:

-- Depth at DT. With Simon retiring, the Titans only have 3 DTs. They are one injury away from being weaker there.

-- Special teams. With Griffing playing safety, he isn't playing as much on ST or returning kickoffs. Weaker there.

-- The O and ST are turning it over too much and putting the D back on the field too much. Game yesterday should have been over in the 2nd quarter but wasn't due to turnovers.

I was looking for an upgrade at defense in week four and found your post after a search. Grabbed the Titans and haven't looked back. Thanks for the info. The only game that stunk from then to now was @ Bucs. Any other games coming up concern you?10 vs Jaguars

If Pac gets reinstated, does Fisher want him back? Scary to think this D could get even better!
i've got my fingers crossed hoping that he gets to join our team.... he would easily be the best #3 Corner in the League (i doubt he'll get the chance to start)!!!

1. I don't think it is going to happen for this season anyway. Although, the last couple of times that Fisher and the GM have spoken they specifically refer to his suspension as being for the "regular season" (as opposed to the playoffs).2. I'm not sure they'd activate him anyway if the suspension was lifted. The big thing they have going for them right now is momemtum, cohesiveness and trust. Why fix it if it isn't broken? Obviously, an injury to Finnegan or Harper would change that thinking.3. If he IS allowed back on the team, I think it is primarily as a special teams player and spot stategic player. Now, if Pac is returning punts and kickoffs you'd have to bump their ST way up. Titans would be a must start top 5 FF defense weekly at that point. If the D was sucking they'd welcome him back immediately. With how they are playing right now -- not so sure.

Bengals and Chargers are likely to score a little, they won't be shut down like some others. I don't like the Chargers matchup at all at this point but we'll see in a month. Broncos just got a little easier. This week will be an absolute war vs. Jax.
