Preparing for final WW pickups this season (1 Viewer)

Dirty Weasel

In many leagues, the WW will close in the next few weeks. I just picked up Michael Bush, because he has a chance of being a major factor in OAK next year. His trade value should rise during the offseason, making him great trade bait before the start of the 2008 season. What other WW-type RB's do you see as rising in value during the off-season?

Tough question as I think there will be a bit of movement from FA/RFA types (J. Jones, Turner etc.). One longshot might be Leonard Weaver in Seattle.

Depending on the severity of LJ's foot Kolby Smith may be another.

Another longer shot is Antonio Pittman.

Koren Robinson might have value. Brett seems to like him. In his first game this season he made James Jones an afterthought. He looked rusty but remember this team is going to go to the playoffs and if he gets hot there, you might get some value from the residual glow.

Brett isn't going anywhere after this seaosn unless they win the Super Bowl. Not likely.

I picked up Javon Walker for a $1 salary.

May or may not work out. I love Javon's talent, but he has been injured quite a bit. I hope it works out for you.

I believe you need to look where there will be potential running back changes next year and take a shot.

Some RB's I'm considering for next year with our final waiver wire pickups.

CLE - Jerome Harrison

DEN - Andre Hall

SEA - Leonard Weaver or Maurice Morris

I also traded for Julius Jones gambling that he will be in a better situatiuon next year.

Leonard Weaver is not the answer in Seattle. He is a FB, and will be kept in the FB role now that Mack Strong has retired. You are better off getting a top pick in a rookie draft to get Johnathon Stewart. He is the answer to all of Seattle's Running back questions.

Sharks, w/ A Green getting old & brittle & assuming R Dayne is not the long term answer in Houston,

how about Adimchinobi Echemandu, Hou RB - Any 2008 value?

I highly doubt it. Assuming all the defensive players lost for the season are available in 2008 (which may very well be incorrect), I would guess that Houston drafts an offensive player in the 1st this year. No 2nd rounder this season either. The oline is much better (9th in sacks allowed per game so far), the passing offense is much better (6th in passing yards) but the team is 27th in rushing yards. I think the Texans draft a tailback with their first pick and let him take over as the season progresses, or cut Green loose and sign a FA.
