Preseason Games Thread - Observations and commentary from the FBG Shark Pool (1 Viewer)

as an Arizona fan i wouldn't be comfortable with my qb being the smallest guy on the field by a long shot especially when he is running for his life

ito Smith is turrible
Yeah I thought he might be something early last year but really showed nothing and I dropped him. $200 Dynasty rookie draft this year a guy took him at 1.9, ouch and the kicker is he does not even own Freeman.

No, but Murray has overthrown two guys, he's had two false starts, is constantly running for his life, and things look in disarray.

I can't help but think about how Cam looked in preseason as a rookie before going 400-400 passing his first two games ever and generally being electric.

A lot of times these athletic phenoms are thrown into the fire in preseason to work on things they aren't good at yet, with no gameplanning, and the results are ugly but the coaches get what they need on tape.

I don't know if that's the case here, obviously.

I just took him in a Superflex based on last week to be my Q/WR/TE/RB FLEX.

Think buyer's remorse hasn't set in already?
I would only draft Murray as 2nd Qb with a top 5 as starter.  He has upside potential but not showing anything at this point.

I'm not rushing to judgment. This performance comes after I picked him as my second-round pick to QB in a superflex. I bumped him about sixteen spots up on the cheat sheet.

I was at the turn and went Mayfield/Murray.

Free league. Doubles as a music draft in the FFA. I think it'll work out. Won't cost me anything, anyway. The songs that fit them were thematic, too. One was by a punk band that likes the National and sounded like them for a song, the other was The National.

Cam is 7" taller and weighs about 40lbs more. he could get away with  rushing - if Kyler Murray has to run he won't finish the year

Tarik Cohen manages to do it and is even smaller. Smart sliding, running OOB and elusiveness is what Murray will need to be a viable rusher.

I nor anyone should draft Murray until 15th round.
And that's what you should do. I like what happened. It drops his ADP everywhere. Their D looks horrible. So Kyler and Arizona will be down all year which is right where I want them to be.

He scored.

Looked good doing it too.

spoiler alert - you were the dude advocating taking him #1 overall in redraft

Sometimes Booger commentary is insightful, such as the observation that NFL defenses have zero fear to blitz the Air Raid offense.

I was warming up to the little guy, then I watched this game.

As a bonus, zero running room for DJ.

I will say that he doesn't really look it. How could they #### up the measurement like that?
There is a pic on twitter where D Johnson is standing next to him in the huddle and he looks like an absolute giant compared to Murray and Johnson is only 6'1.  I am not saying Murray is going to fail solely based on his size but holy hell its not going to help matters especially given his line and style of play

warming on raiders and eagles skill players, and to a lesser extent jets players.

Lamar may be the only Raven worth a roster spot.  Maybe Snead.  Serious RBBC potential.

So who’s ready to be infuriated at refs this year?

That seems to be the only consistent thing year to year, officiating gets even more gray area and more stupidly subjective and game changing.

Official review was supposed to fix all that...

If you are in a ppr, dont sleep on li'l Boston Scott.

The Saints took him to be the Sproles type if it worked out eventually but the Eagles snagged him from their PS.   A tiny Dynamo who can do returns also. After Sanders and Howard (1 yearr deal) they don't have anything worth a damn.
Sproles is a lock to make the team this year and most beat writers think either Clement or Smallwood has a better chance of making the final roster than Scott.

Man I don’t really pay attention to preseason but I wanted David Johnson in the top-10 and I just don’t know after this.

Going to see a drop in David Johnson's ADP
It's tough to spend a top 5 or 6 pick on him after seeing tonight's performance. The offensive line looks horrific again. He doesn't look very explosive to me. I'm not a big fan of taking a RB on what will be a bad team. You can still argue that DJ has number 1 RB potential but at this point it's all theoretical. I would think it will take some time into the season for the Cards offense to truly get rolling with a rookie QB and a rookie coach.

Murray is still a great player. Next weeks game will be key.

I am going to grab Chase Edmunds as much as possible late in my drafts. He looked good last year and looked great catching the ball tonight. If anything happened to DJ I think he would come in and put up numbers. I think he will get touches anyway.
