President Obama's farewell address (1 Viewer)

Do you get to give a speech after you've been impeached?
Clinton gave a farewell address.

Although he was never impeached, so did Nixon.

I believe every single President who didn't die in office, from George Washington forward, has given a farewell address.

Had to go look this up.  Andrew Johnson was impeached and gave a farewell address that may have been his most memorable speech.  He was only the third President to give a formal farewell speech.

Why do I get the feeling that the outgoing President after he leaves office is going to do everything in his power to torpedo the incoming administration?

I get the feeeling that everytime trump thinks obama is crossing the line more obama executive orders die.    Or something like that.    I think trump is pissed about these leaks so obamacare is first up.

That definitely is one perspective.
Insurance companies have docs by the balls. I've worked in a surg's office for 10 years and have seen it. I understand why now the surg I worked for now only takes Blue Shield PPO and Medicare. Out of network payments are a joke. If you want to hate on this, direct it to the insurance companies. It's well deserved.

This is a sad post by you. No matter what your differences are with President Obama, he's still the President and has been for 8 years. If you are an American, he deserves your respect, if not for him personally, for the office he serves.
I can't agree more with a tim post than this one. The office is important. It's up to our next president to actually live up to it.

Cool letter by the girls.  And really cool scene with him awarding Biden the PMoFwD.  Joe Biden is a good guy and has been a politician that we should be proud of in our history.  I don't agree with him on.... well, most things, but I've never seen an attack on Biden that did much to worry me at all.  We need more of him and less Mitch McConnells.  Both parties do.

Total class all around, both families.
Absolutely agree. Great thing for the Bush daughters to do. Says a lot about the type of people they are. Very impressive.

Obama's speech was amazing as always. Regardless of political affiliation, I would think everyone would agree that he is an incredible public speaker. The best of any President I've seen in my lifetime.

Tonight on CNN is a look back on Michelle's legacy. I'll need a tissue for this one.
I've been very critical of some of things Michelle has said over the years, but this story deserves mentioning.  As many of you know, my nephew was an intern to Obama in the West Wing a couple years ago.  A few days after he started he was walking down the hall with Dennis McDonough.  They ran into the President and a group of people, including Michelle.   McDonough started talking with Barack about something.  My nephew probably looked a little sheepish and uncomfortable.  He was 22 at the time and probably looked more like 16.  Anyway, Michelle walks over to him, introduces herself, and then gives him a hug.
