What about Romney's plan do you think is going to cause that $4T on the sidelines to actually be spent on more jobs or higher wages for the vast majority of Americans, especially since most Americans have declining wages and mountains of debt?Well, when you have 25M people out of work, and you have corporations, private equity firms and hedge funds with nearly $4TN on the sidelines... then yes, federal policy to employ those unemployed workers and put that capital to use, you can reduce the deficit... not hard to understand... more people working and paying taxes, more corporations using and spending money money, more corps investing... etc.I thought Romney explained the concept really really really well.Add to that the places where he plansto cut the crap out of the budget, it can certainly be done.CNN focus group just showed Obama's lowest pt with them was when he pointed out Mitt's math doesn't add up. This just shows voters can't handle the truth. Apparently they are willing to believe that everyone gets a tax cut, and the deficit goes down, with a free unicorn on the side.
I have meaningless money laying around, I just don't see how it is used to make a point in a debate. I don't run around on these boards asking everyone how much money they would bet on their POV, to either validate or discredit them; it seems kind of sophomoric and certainly a waste of time.Maybe you'd be more comfortable risking something less precious than money. Like meaningless words on a message board. Das cool.I have to admit that the last time I had to answer the question of "How much do you want to bet?" I think I was standing in my grade school playground. If Gunz, or others, want serious answers they should ask serious questions.I have to admit that this is a backpedal I did not anticipate.Gambling is a sin; the silver lining is that Gunz will not need the money he is going to lose on Judgement Day.GunZ is taking bets. That's what should interest you.Is this one of those scientific polls that I hear so much about?Lots of chatter from my conservative friends on fbook tonight. About an hour ago, I updated my status:

Just read it all and earlier watched the debate. Mitt was well prepared and the aggressor throughout. Obama seemed uninterested and somewhat unprepared. Lehrer was pushed around a bit and got out of the way which lead to a very good debate IMO.The trailing narrative:Repubs- This is the real Mitt Romney. He knows his stuff and if a real leader. He has a plan and it was obvious last night.Dems- Fact check, "zingers", and desperate bully. My take- Romney in a landslide. Obama needs better prep or a teleprompter.Seriously? Over 1,200 posts?Geez. I'm just starting to watch the debate, but no way in hell I read this whole thread.Cliff notes?

You think that would be good for Romney? First association that made for me was his 13% tax rate.Maybe they were just saving this for late in the game but the outcry against Obamacare needs to come front and center. Time for the folks who swore they would vote Obama out of office to stand up and be counted. I think Romney could have landed even more punches. He waited a long time to bring up 50 million people on food stamps, up over 150% since obama has taken office. Maybe Romney didn't want to sound like a jerk but it should have been discussed more. Romney also managed to land punches while still being respectful. That line about not knowing what Obama was talking about, that will be run over and over and over...One of several reasons why Romney is getting my support.Romney really slammed him good when he asked why he spent 2 years working on Obamacare and not jobs.

It is what we do here; please follow along.Libs are such sore losers.Romney was channeling David Lee Roth: It doesn't matter of you win or lose, it's how good you looked. Then you can backpedal and lie. And win apparently.
And win Jim11 over because he can use the words "THE LIBS" again.Libs are such sore losers.Romney was channeling David Lee Roth: It doesn't matter of you win or lose, it's how good you looked. Then you can backpedal and lie. And win apparently.

I agree with the sentiment. Unfortunately Romney is advocating the same policies of W. Bush. Hell, he even was parroting the same compassionate conservatism Bush ran on in 2000.And exactly what I've been saying. Obama has failed. Time for change.“I just don’t know how the president could have come into office, facing 23 million people out of work, rising unemployment, an economic crisis at the kitchen table,” Romney said, “and spent his energy and passion for two years fighting for Obamacare instead of fighting for jobs for the American peopleNail on the Head

No, it is his tax rate. Especially since he could have paid less if he'd taken his full deductions. Either way, I don't think Romney referencing his accountant is a positive for him. It's not his rate. It's the tax code. You think that would be good for Romney? Obama: Heres this thing you said you were going to do that is terrible and will harm our country.Romney: No I'm not doing that thing.Obama: ...Deafening cheers of conservatives everywhere: Romneys crushing it! DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP!
The repubs are over the moon with the performance. Tommyboy is considering taking more Romney action. Most people agree Romney 'won' the debate, atleast on style. After the hour mark Obama stopped being as listless, but it was a fairly poor performance by him.My take, Obama basically was told to not engage Romney directly on the economy and to avoid attacks at all costs. Probably because his people don't want to take the hit to his popularity numbers and they thought Romney's positions on the economy would be ultimately harmful to him in the long run.Seriously? Over 1,200 posts?Geez. I'm just starting to watch the debate, but no way in hell I read this whole thread.Cliff notes?

I keep trying to point out: it won't matter. THIS was the only debate that mattered. 60 million people watched tonight. Not even half that will watch any of the next 3 debates. If Obama was going to look good, it had to be tonight. He didn't. And now there's a chance he may lose the election, and if so, there's no way to recover.Hes gotta stand up in the next debate and punch Romney right in the mouth. Call him out on all of his bull####.

Good point. As I just wrote, debates aren't everything. All I'm saying is that if you lose the first debate, you'll never make it up. As far as debates go, the first one is the only one that matters. And that, children, is how John Kerry succeeded in becoming President of these United States.I keep trying to point out: it won't matter. While I agree Obama didn't come off well, I'd dispute that he looked defeated. Regardless, I found what he and Romney were saying was more important than how either of them was saying it.Watching part of the replay: Obama's head is looking down all the time. He looks defeated, deflated, exhausted. Doesn't exude confidence at all.
Drunken tim is kinda hard to watch.Watching part of the replay: Obama's head is looking down all the time. He looks defeated, deflated, exhausted. Doesn't exude confidence at all.

Wow gr8 analysis. I understand you POV nowMy favorite part so far is Romney criticizing Obama for not being more bipartisan in working with Republicans in congress. With all due respect, when Romney was in Mass did he have Democrats in the state legislature who point blank stately publicly that there sole objective was to block the him on everything and make sure he couldn't ever claim any success?
You missed the obamacare bill that was rammed down everyones throat the 1st 2 years? The idea that Obama neglected the economy while devoting 100% of his time and energy on healthcare is crazy. One of the best things uttered all night."I just don't know how the president could have come into office, facing 23 million people out of work, rising unemployment, an economic crisis at the kitchen table," Romney said, "and spent his energy and passion for two years fighting for Obamacare instead of fighting for jobs for the American peopleNail on the Head

when did the vp debate start mattering? The media and spinsters can spin it all they want, the people saw this debate.Romney destroyed him in the debate - but he let loose a lot of chickens that eventually will have to come home to roost. Today the dems spin control is in full effect trying to put a semblance of a good face on the debate - but the GOP spin machine better get cranked up because once the fact checkers start questioning some of the debate particulars there will be a ton of questions to answer. Grandpa Joe can use his folksy style to bring alot of this out against Ryan and hope Ryan goes on the attack. People are thinking Ryan will kill Biden in a debate and maybe that will be the DNC plan...get Biden killed so bad he'll get sympathy and portray Ryan as a little bully.Frankly, as bad as Obama botched it last night it is amazing how the spin has already started to soften the loss - and how Romey is getting impaled on his positions as lies or misrepresentations. Not gonna lie though I look forward to a gaffe war in the VP debate. That is what it has come down to. After that - angry Obama may make an appearance. At the very least it will be lecturing Obama who will weave through what he feels are gross misrepresentations from Romney and he will deliver it with complete disdain that he even has to argue these points.
So far it seems people don't much care that Romney won this debate by denying every valid critique by Obama and promising free ponies for everyone.Romney destroyed him in the debate - but he let loose a lot of chickens that eventually will have to come home to roost. I really think this relates more to the current state of the country more than Obama. I think a lot of things are fundamentally wrong. I think that Obama wlaked into a lot of problems that were not necessarilty the fault of Bush, but the fault of the leadership, of both paties, over the course of the last 80 years. He hasn't been successful in making things better.I also believe that we are on the brink of another recession. I think a second Obama term would be worse than Bush II's second term. If Romney wins, then, when the economy continues on is course over the next year, because the stimulus money was only a temporary fix, and whatever recovery it managed to achieve didn't stick, Romney can take the hit even before his policies really begin to take effect.Watching part of the replay: Obama's head is looking down all the time. He looks defeated, deflated, exhausted. Doesn't exude confidence at all.
assuming that he is being kept in the loop...Obama looked and felt tired. They said he skipped some debate prep due to some presidential duties, so I wonder if there is some mission about to go down in Libya.
Jim Lehrer was going to bring up the 47% but his Depends broke just before he got the chance.Seems like the Prez played it way safe. No 47%, no Bain, etc.
