Priest Holmes Reporting To Camp (1 Viewer)

For a team that current backups are Michael Bennett and unproven rookie, Kolby Smith, I don't think this is a bad thing. I don't beleive Holmes will have much fantasy impact, but it may not be bad for the Chiefs.

Priest was getting paid regardless. I wouldn't doubt it if CP called Priest up and asked him to show up at camp to try and lure LJ back.

If I were LJ I'd just kick back and giggle and wait for the phone to ring after week 1.

So there's been some trade speculation on LJ going to Green Bay. And now Priest is set to return to the Chiefs. And I just heard a few minutes ago on a local sports talk show how Green Bay's Superbowl winning odds just went from 60-1 to 22-1. The show's host suggested it was because a ton of bettors have laid a whole lot of money down on the Packers, driving the line way down. Or maybe its that Vegas is speculating that with Holmes returning to the Chiefs, the LJ to Green Bay trade may be a real possibility. This is just specualtion, but considering the change in the line on the 'Pack, there be both some smoke and fire here.

I don't know what to make though of a guy in his mid-30s with a severe neck injury wanting to return to a team that's lost not one but TWO HOF linemen in the past 2 years. Ive always loved watching Priest do his thing, and Ill be pulling for him, but Im a little pessimisitc about his return.

How does Priest Holmes' surprising return affect Larry Johnson's holdout?

The unexpected return of Holmes after a 21-month layoff comes at a great time for the Chiefs. Though no one knows how much Holmes has left after his sabbatical, his return potentially gives the Chiefs some leverage in their contract discussions with Johnson. The three-time Pro Bowler had one of the most productive three-year runs (2001-03) in NFL history and was the reason why Johnson barely saw the field during his first two seasons. The likelihood of Holmes returning to that level is doubtful, given his age (33) and nature of his injuries; but coming back as a productive complementary player is not out of the question. The Chiefs, in fact, are likely willing to gamble that Holmes has the skills and fortitude to flourish in the K.C. backfield (along with Michael Bennett) in Johnson's absence.
