Priest Holmes (1 Viewer)

Hmmm,I didn't realize he was even thinking about playing again this year

Chiefs G.M. Carl Peterson says he talks to Priest Holmes about every other week and Holmes seems open to returning to the team this year.

Holmes will undergo another round of tests on his neck shortly to determine whether he's healthy enough to come off PUP in Week 7. Because he's made few public appearances, it's hard to tell and it seems unlikely that Holmes will return to Kansas City this season. Source: Kansas City Star

I'm thinking there may be somewhat of a shot. Peterson's probably working any magic he can muster considering Holmes is 20 times better than Bennett as a backup for Johnson. Ya never know, at least pick him up if you have room until it becomes official in week 7.

he Chiefs could use Holmes now. They got a scare last weekend when Larry Johnson was twisted violently by his facemask — Johnson is expected to play this weekend — and are waiting for Michael Bennett to come back from a hamstring injury. Peterson said he expects Bennett back “very shortly.”

Holmes’ future is much muddier.

“He’s working out, but not, very frankly, with a great deal of vigor right now,” Peterson said. “He’s doing fine physically, but it’s still going to be the doctors’ decision, and he knows that.”

Q: What’s the latest on Priest Holmes’ condition? It’s coming up on his six weeks.

EDWARDS: “We’re going to have to talk about that; we really haven’t huddled up on that yet. But it’s a discussion we’re going to have to have.”

Q: Have you talked to him?

EDWARDS: “I haven’t, no I have not.”

Q: I know it’s different but Turley’s out there watching practice and you know he’s coming back. But is it telling that you really haven’t heard from Priest?

EDWARDS: “I don’t know if it’s telling, because I haven’t been around Priest a whole lot. They say he’s like Casper the friendly ghost. You never find him or see him. That’s just his way. I don’t know if it’s telling or anything, I just know that we’ll have another conversation in another week to figure out which way we’re going.”

CARL PETERSON: “I’ve talked to him. We’re disappointed that Michael Bennett is hurt because we wanted him to take some of the load of Larry. But he’ll be back shortly. We’ve got running backs and it would always be great to have Priest Holmes but that’s not dictated by us right now.”

Q: Would you like him to be here more?

EDWARDS: “No. If Carl’s talked to him we’re ok. But we knew going into (this season) that he wasn’t going to be here and that was OK and why we put him on PUP (physically unable to perform). He’s fine.”

Is there a time limit KC has after week 6 to take him off of PUP make him out for the rest of the year? (Or whatever else the options are)

IIRC, they have 3 weeks to decide what to do with him. I believe the options are activate him, put him on IR, trade him, release him, or put him on the retired list.

Priest could be the goal line back. RBBC by playoff time.
:lmao: give me lj over an old broken down priest any day of the week and twice on sundays. :lmao:
Agreed. Even IF he did come back, I'd doubt he'd want to be used as a goaline "pounding" back considering his injury.
IF he did come back, he would be totally clear medically and I think they would not restrict him. Plus, at the goalline he usually ran outside and did his little jump across the goalline with his arms out.
