Prince Fielder trade offer (1 Viewer)

DreadedParms

Footballguy
11 team NL only Ultra league. (5x5, with OBP instead of BA and Ks)

Would you trade Jay Bruce at $5 (2nd year of contract) and Carlos Gonzalez at $10 (2nd year of contract) for Fielder at $15 (who cannot be extended)?

How long can you keep/extend a player for? And would fielder allow you to contend?

Post your roster.

With the little information you provided, I would do the deal in a heartbeat, with my only concern being Prince getting traded to the AL at the trading deadline. Guy is a beast.

In all likelihood, I will not be competing with Fielder. I dumped last year from word go, due to completely selling out in 2008 (only to end up in 2nd 1.5 pts. out of first naturally), and in retrospect, didn't do as well as I would've liked. The upside, roster-wise, is Strasburg, Heyward & Alvarez. The down side is my keeper list outside of those guys & Fielder, my keeper list is so-so. And not especially deep.

I can extend as many years as I want, but I would probably extend Bruce 2 additional years to $15. He was incorrectly listed as in the 2nd year of contract in the original post. Gonzalez doesn't need a decision made on him yet.

Well, I think I would still do the deal, and then trade Fielder to a team making a push. Probably can get a sweeter deal during the season. THose are some unbelievable keepers for an 11 team NL only league, by the way. I say do the deal, and then flip Fielder during the season for young keepers.

Let me clarify - I currently have Fielder. Obviously, moving Fielder will hurt me, but more likely than not, I do not expect to be really competing this year. I'm concerned that Fielder will not net Bruce & Gonzalez during the season. Do C. Gonzalez and Bruce and their potential justify losing the last season of Fielder at $15?

It would be tough for me to do right now for a couple reasons. THe first is Carlos Gonzalez' limited sample size. I think Bruce will rebound, but not really a OBP kind of guy. SO I guess it comes down to type of prospects I could get. Have you put out any other feelers?

Yeah, Bruce's OBP has been pretty miserable. I like Gonzalez, but I'd try to get another piece.

But I would definitely try to move Fielder given that you have so many young studs and won't contend this year. Try to get as many bidders involved as possible.
