Probably the most underrated and underranked WR this year (1 Viewer)

Guy just keeps shooting up my WR rankings (and unfortunately in Mock Drafts too) to the point where he almost can't get any higher. Now my #14 WR (PPR). Nicks had a very similar trip through my rankings last August, ultimately landing at #16 when I drafted at the end of the month.

Just can't get enough Mario Manningham. I guess this is the answer to the "Why do people draft so early?" thread. So early adopters give themselves a better shot at these guys before the world gets wise to them.

Wow, that high?

I brought this up in the chat-room last night but I'm kind of surprised to see Danny Amendola essentially unranked on this site. I know he is kind of "just a guy" but geez, it's tough to ignore 85 dump-off receptions last year. We was the 29th ranked WR in a PPR league last year. Even if his receptions drop down to like 60, he would still be in like Pierre Garcon/Lance Moore territory. Personally I don't think I would draft him because I usually as a rule will only draft guys who have legitimate top-20 potential but I would think he would be more in the "mid-30's".

Who have you bumped down to make a slot?
My top 20 right now (again, PPR):1. Roddy White2. Andre Johnson3. Calvin Johnson4. Hakeem Nicks5. Larry Fitzgerald6. Reggie Wayne7. Greg Jennings8. Vincent Jackson9. Miles Austin10. Mike Wallace11. Wes Welker12. Mike Williams (TB)13. Dez Bryant14. Mario Manningham15. Desean Jackson16. Santonio Holmes17. Anquan Boldin18. Chad Ochocinco19. Percy Harvin20. Stevie Johnson

I really like those rankings.

Some bold rankings although I can't argue with many of them even if mine differ a little. Funny thing is, Mario isn't the guy that seems misplaced to me.

Wouldn't argue them -- they're definitely fringe guys. I think their inclusion shows moreso how much I dislike Brandon Lloyd (#22) & Dwayne Bowe (#23). Collie (#27) is starting to inch his way up, and even (gasp) Julio Jones (#25) as well. Lance Moore too (#24)

This is almost virtually the same projections I have. Minor things like AJ over White at 1-2, Stevie Johnson being the top of the last tier also moving Manningham and DJax into the last tier.14. Stevie Johnson15. Desean Jackson16. Chad Ochocinco17. Santonio Holmes18. Anquan Boldin19. Mario Manningham20. Percy Harvin

where is Bowe on these rankings, #2 WR in non-ppr 2010

surely it was an oversight and not on purpose

Personally to me, I think hes an unimpressive athlete in a poor passing offense, lacking pretty much every skill an elite WR needs having one good year going against a soft schedule isnt retribution to me.Pretty much everything I just said also applies to brandon lloyd.

Great thread, another gem I felt help me out on recent drafts. When I like a guy I tend to grab them a little earlier than I might with other players. Took him mid 5th round as about WR20 off the board. I think he has possible top10 upside and with no real established WR3 yet I think Manningham can easily hit 1,000+/10TD in the Giants offense. Manningham is a fantastic WR2/3 for any team.

Yeah, no oversight here either. He's #22 for me, and at that ranking I'm glad to know someone will take him well before I'll even think about it. The Chiefs played the bottom 5 pass offenses in the NFL during Bowe's amazing streak last year. They don't have that benefit this year (and play a murderer's row through Nov & Dec) and you will see Bowe turn back into the pumpkin that he is. Goes for Cassel too.

(Rotoworld) Appearing on WFAN Radio Wednesday, coach Tom Coughlin suggested that Mario Manningham will be the Giants' slot receiver if Victor Cruz or rookie Jerrel Jernigan doesn't step up to fill the role.Analysis: In this scenario, Domenik Hixon and Hakeem Nicks would be the outside wideouts with Manningham moving inside for three-receiver sets. The Giants haven't seen enough from Cruz or Jernigan to place them among the club's top three receivers. It'd be a nice plus for Manningham's fantasy outlook in PPR leagues. He'd be playing the exact same role once manned by Steve Smith.

Wow, so Hixon is pushing for the #2 job in this latest scenario with Mario in the slot.
I wouldn't say that. Mannigham and Nicks will be the guys in 2 WR sets and with three WR sets Manningham might move to the slot, then Hixon on the outside.-----------------On a side note, Beckum had another horrible day at camp, he ran towards the coverage causing Gilbride to blow a fuse. Giants may just use their blocking TEs and spread Boss's 35 catches to other positions.

Totally agree with Manningham. Last year I took him in the last round, and after the draft my friend goes "Manningham, eh, surprised he got drafted"...Since everyone was still sleeping on him last year, I can only hope he drops to reasonable value with Smith now gone. Cant see myself taking him earlier than late 5th with ideally taking him a round later.

Do you think this is an indication that Hixon has established himself as the #3 above the other WRs on the roster? I know you have been high on Devin Thomas winning the #3...

It looks like Hixon has the lead for the #3 spot currently, now that he's shown in camp and the Carolina game that he can take a hit (he's taken some hard ones)has the speed back and is playing without fear of re-injury. Devin Thomas has been having a very good camp, but missed a few days with a dislocated finger and may have dislocated another today, on a Ryan Perrilloux pass. Hixon's height and speed might give him the edge over Thomas.

Like Manningham, imagine what could happen if Manning has been working on his accuracy.... One receiver I think is flying under the radar a bit in PPR (yes, I'm also an owner) is HArvin. Good ground game, good short pass QB, 3rd year... supposedly the migraines are gone and so is Rice. In my league he was #20 wr (.5 ppr) and that's missing some time with a failing QB. In his case I don't think it hurts him too much (losing Rice/double team), very shifty, great spped, slot. Word is Berrian is looking good too. IF he's healthy and on the field he could easily move into the top 10 PPR. Big upside.

grabbed him in both my redrafts partly because of the info in this thread and while he's done better than some, I'd say his current production is frustrating to say the least

I bought into the hype and traded for this guy. I also own Nicks so he was insurance as well. Seeing how bad Eli Manning is and the passing game as a whole I don't see how the Giants can have two top 24 WRs. Nicks is a solid WR1, but I see Manningham as a WR3 with WR2 upside if the Giants can fix these problems. Until then both might slip...

Inconsistent "hands" + inconsistent play from Eli looks like it will derail the Manningham Express. I liked him a lot in the preseason as well (and drafted him), but it just looks like the NYG offense will struggle. Manningham had a TD pass gift-wrapped tonight but he battled the ball so bad it knocked him off his feet... UGLY!
