Project or Die - Jesus Montero (1 Viewer)

Notorious T.R.E.

Showdown!™ Administrator
Seattle apparently has long coveted

and now they have him. It appears he'll only catch 1-2 times per week and primarily DH as the Mariners still have Olivo and Jaso. In the last two seasons Montero has posted these lines at AAA:

2010 289/353/517 21 homers

2011 288/348/467 18 homers

In 18 games with the Yankees he blasted out a 328/406/590 line with 4 homers in 61 AB.

Project or die.

AVG OBP HR RBI R SB

.277/.364/.462

20 HRs

64 Runs

86 RBI

If he gains C eligibility and his bat stays in the middle of the lineup every day, he's top five at his position. If he doesn't, his fantasy value plummets.

I think everyone so far is too aggressive. Not saying he can't get there, but Matt Wieters.

.260 .351 16 HR, 69 RBI, 61 R, 2 SB

Wieters mostly batted in the #6 hole during his first full season. He also was an everyday catcher, which reduced his playing time by 20 games or so.I'm assuming Montero will be batting higher in the order and playing mostly at DH. If he bats cleanup for 150 games, he'll have a lot more RBI opportunities (unless Seattle's offense remains pathetic which, come to think of it, is pretty likely)

I'm pretty close to shadyridr here.

.270/.340/.475

19 HR, 70 RBI, 58 R

He's going to be limited greatly by both Safeco and the crappy supporting cast. In fact, the numbers above might be generous.

Weiters also hit at Camden.Montero on a crappy offensive team, in a large yard, I think he's gonna struggle.put me down in the camp of .270 ave, .345 opb, 15 hr, 70 rbi's and 55 runs

That Seattle lineup is harrrrible, and depending on where Smoak hits, Montero might not have any protection at all.

0.267

0.345

17 HR

58 RBI

45 Runs

I think you are going to see a ton of innings where Montero is walked and then stranded on first at the end of the inning. The only Runs and RBIs he will get are the ones that he hits out of the park.

I'm not going to attempt to make a projection so I guess I'll Die.

I just wanted to come in and answer the subtitle, and the answer is no.

Using the BBT APP (thanks Pickles!), each projection is assigned a score. I'll give you the high and low projection based on that score; and average stats of the 10 projections I used.

what this is showing is that we could put out fantasy content on par with the "big boys"
I've never once doubted that. Just can't get anyone with some web know-how to get the ball rolling.
We tried a couple a years ago.RotoDugout.com :(
That never made it past the forums stage. The real attempt was Baseball Tangent, and it was a valiant effort. I feel a few more years of seeing it through might have seen the breakthrough.

BBT could have been Alex Gordon

I still think the Yankees made a mistake in dealing him. Especially with Posada retiring. Cashman should have just upped the payroll again and signed Edwin Jackson and Roy Oswalt.
