Actually I was really impressed after going to the link to Doc's blog where he mentioned the rotor cuff injury to Roethlisberger back in the summer. I'd completely forgotten all about that but he comes in with the perspective of a doctor so I would imagine he either has that information readily stored in his doctor brain or he has some sort of file listing injuries for a built-in fantasy edge or maybe he's got some other way to quickly access injury information.

I'm a typical football fan and don't have your medical background but I am impressed with your memory dealing with player injuries.

QUESTION: Do you simply remember injuries for players or do you have some sort of system to recall injuries that could effect players for fantasy purposes or is the case of Ben Roethisberger just an odd case where you happened to recall his previous rotor cuff injury?

Thanks in advance but I'm impressed by how quickly you accessed the previous injury history to Ben's shoulder.

I don't have a specific system to recall injuries. Sometimes, I'll remember, especially if it's something I've commented on in the past few months. More often, I'll scroll back through the FBG news wire, Rotoworld player blurbs or use Google to make sure there's not any relevant prior injuries worth discussing.
 
Love your stuff Doc. I've kind of stepped back my fantasy homework time because most information is readily available. I think your information, being more in depth, coupled with the regular information available to FBG members or on MFL can be an edge. For guys like me with lots of irons in the fire, that edge can be huge.

 
Jene, it looks like you think Ben could be out 1-2 weeks and possibly 3-4+ if it's worse than expected.

In your opinion, does it make more (fantasy) sense to trade for a QB like Freeman or Newton with this injury; planning that Ben will be out closer to 4 weeks vs. 1-2?

Or

grab a ww fill in like Tannehill for 1 week in hopes Ben comes back sooner than later?

Don't want to answer for Jene... but there are too many variables to really answer the question. Ben is tough as nails, but the injury can limit strength and accuracy - even with pain injections before the game. Also, there is risk of reinjury, and if there is a posterior dislocation at the joint, it can be associated with life threatening injuries to the great vessels of the head and neck. The quick answer is that the fantasy playoffs are right around the corner - are you willing to bet your fantasy playoffs on a QB who has known rib and throwing arm injuries 3 weeks before the first round, and who plays a style that increases his risk of reinjury?

Good point. Personally, I'm scrambling a little and was hoping against hope that we'd get a brighter outlook sometime tonight... wishful thinking i guess

What are we kissing up for here? Love when people fluff mods to kiss up for some reason.

OP is stating that another site is referring their readers to the docWhat the hell in your mind do people get for kissing up? A free subscription?? Doubt it. If people want to give props to FBG for their hard work there is nothing wrong with that.

I was under the impression they were giving him the credit for breaking news for what was rumored to be the case from near the start. Links to a FBG getting props that is on other sites always sweet.sorry for confusion.
