PSA : "Posse" is Racist. (1 Viewer)

Rachel Nichols and SVP had a great conversation on this topic last night on Sportscenter. Worth a watch if you have a few minutes, I can definitely see why they took offense.

1) Rachel makes some very compelling arguments

2) Rachel has nice cans, which distracted me from her compelling arguments

3) Maybe slightly insensitive by Phil, maybe he's getting a bit senile, but definitely not racist.  Condescending? Absolutely.  LeBron wants to be thought more of as a Magic Johnson type businessman than these guys.  Iverson had 50, Walker had 70.  Maybe "Entourage" is more politically correct than posse?

Seems to me Phil was trying to slight Lebron cause he doesn't like him, not cause he's black.
Seems like he was trying to dig Riley also no?

Whatever, Phil Jackson is a grade A #######.  Can't imagine anyone caring what he thinks, especially Lebron.  Should have just mocked him and moved on, but possetalk™ is serious business.

I think both Carter and Paul have transcended just being part of his "entourage" or "posse" or whatever similar term you want to use. I think that's what really pissed them off. Sure, they definitely took advantage of their connections to LeBron to make something out of themselves and that should be celebrated. They took the comment as derisive and it's certainly not my place to disagree with that. I liked Stan Van Gundy's comments on the subject as well.

I don't quite get all the furor.

"Every step you take they you remind you, you ghetto."
1) Posse doesn't mean ghetto.  2) And yes Phil was taking a small shot at LBJ and Riley, but it wasn't through the use of the word posse.

Jackson retweets @possefoundation mention and it's website possefoundation.org.

Blatant racism fueled by the rise of Trump.

This nonsense is so out of control.  The white devil is after LeBron

The quote seems unclear. Did Jackson use the term on his own or was he still quoting Riley's response to Spoelstra?

I mean, the quotation marks used in the story imply he was talking on his own right after quoting Riley, but is that accurate?

sI just wish there was some type of country-wide Human Reources Department that gave us unhip folk the memo as to when a certain word turns from cool to unacceptable...

Race is the last thing on my mind when I think about "posse."  These guys are just waiting for the chance to bring this stuff up.  So conditioned to always think this way. What a silly thing to even care about.
