Pure Speculation: Chad Johnson a Colt? (1 Viewer)

Harrison is getting up there, which is hard to say because we are the same age, and he was injured for most of last season.

Chad Johnson is looking, but Cincy says he ain't goin' nowhere.

But, what if?

How much better would the Colts be? No more doubles on Wayne, and a whole lotta talent for Peyton to throw to.

i do not see that happening

The Colts (and Bill Polian in particular) aren't the type of team to bring in high-priced FAs or "controversial" players.

Can't see it happening. They'd much more likely grab a WR early in the draft.

I'm not asking if you think it will happen, history shows us that anything is possible (who would have guessed Moss to New England last year, for a huge pay cut too), but what if?

I would think it would be overkill with CJ, Wayne and Harrison...may as welll have Moss sign a one-year vet minny too so they can go 4 wide.

It would be unfair. Wayne and Johnson are two of the top 5 WRs in the league, and Harrison and Gonzalez arent bad either.

Zero chance. We don't want Ocho Stinko. Maybe in 5 years when he's desparate to prove he's a winner he can go to the Pats for the minny.

The one player that the Colts could sign(if not franchised as expected but this is a what if thread) that could equal a Supe ring- Albert Haynesworth.

They can "get by" with a fine TE and great WR in Wayne and real good young back in Addai and future HOF at QB and solid OL and....Haynesworth's addition would be enormous.

Not only for his ability but him taking up blockers frees up the rest of the players to do well and Dungy to work up some awesome schemes.

I say no to this too. The Colts have found fine young interior linemen to build on. Hayneworth is great, but has issues too. I'm not sure the team would be willing to deal with those.

After reading Dugy's book, "Quiet Strength"...I cannot envision Albert Haynesworth on the Colts.

I'm sure my Bengals would be glad to help one of the best teams in their conference while lowering their talent level and taking a $7m cap hit...

What Moss did for the Patriots, CJ could do for the Colts.
What exactly is that?
Make their offense better. Seriously, if they could (which they can't...but hey, it aint my thread...) Manning would simply retake the single season TD mark with about 55. And yes, I am serious - and don't call me Shirley. The Colts would likely make a run at 19-0 themselves. Their defense is very good (and getting better). While Harrison is getting up there, if you put Wayne, CJ, Harrison and Gonzalez out there to go 4 wide - well, let's just say DBs are going to start wetting themselves (as will defensive coordinators).

I honestly don't think he improves the offense unless Harrison retires. The Colts offense isn't an issue. The Colts being healthy is more of an issue.I don't want CJ on the Colts. We don't need the primadonna. I get your premise, but I'd rather spend cap space on a top O-Lineman or two.
