Q: Best Offense in the AFC West? (1 Viewer)

Graham has zero pro bowl appearances, just as many as Manumaleuna and Scheffler. And if you want to take the top 2 on Denver, you also need to take the top 2 on SD. And if all you want out of a TE is to block and maybe catch an odd pass here and there, why not just line up an extra guard or tackle. As for the game against SD, they were up 28-6, Scheffler scores 2 TDs to make it 28-20, and then SD shuts them down as they score 20 points in the 4th. So yeah, SD shut them down when it mattered.
It is hard to debate with you when you aren't following the full debate to begin with. I am agreeing with SSOG that Graham/Scheffler = Gates/Manu. Aren't Gates/Manu considered the top 2 TEs on SD? If not, just go Gates/whoever you want. Argument still holds true IMHO. On the SD game, you are once again not following what I said. I don't disagree that SD shut down DEN when it mattered. However, to say they chose to when and when not to is "just ludicrous". I'll guarantee they wanted to shut down DEN every time. You were putting down all of the teams Scheffler scored against EXCEPT for SD and you gave SD a pass for the points they gave up. Very unrealistic.

The problem is that you and SSOG are just completely wrong in this analysis. Not only is Gates the top TE in the game, but Manu is easily one of the best TE2s in the league. Keep in mind that Manu was a quality STARTER three and half of his five years before coming the Chargers. The fact that you are not even sure who the Charger's TE2 is reveals how underqualified you are to competently analyze this. Here's how it breaks down:

Gates >>>>> Graham

Manumaleuna >>> Sheffler

Chargers TEs >>>> Broncos TEs

Now I can give you your own opinion w/o stating for a fact that you are wrong. I said my stance is my opinion, too. However, I can debate the competency for the argument. I jumped into this thing because Scheffler was being dismissed with "only 18 career receptions" by an SD fan. I brought much fact to a lot of the fiction that was being painted in bolt colors. I think that is truly the heart of this discussion. Also, very few replying to me are coming back to the actual original premise that Graham/Scheffler benefit the Denver system as much as Gates/Manu do the SD system. That said, I'm going back to the original statement that it is not a stretch to say Graham/Scheffler are CAPABLE of = Gates/Manu. Nobody is taking anything away from Gates or Manu by saying this. Rather, we're recognizing the impact Scheffler will have.I can only say it so many ways. It is obviously very confusing to some not following the original premise. If your opinion is different, so be it. Nevertheless, please take the discussion in context. No player is being compared head-to-head but rather in tandem and then, the comparison looks at what they deliver to their respective systems.

Gotta go - I hear the "qualification patrol".

I was comparing Gates to Scheffler as they're more akin as receiving TEs and Manu and Graham as blocking TEs.As for your contention, those combinations arent even close. My point in regards to the SD game is that Scheffler is unable to create problems on his own. He'll be fine as a part of a system, but he isn't a matchup nightmare as Gates is. Gates is one of the 2 focal points of the SD offense, Scheffler was behind Henry, Walker, Smith and maybe even Marshall. When you add Scheffler's and Graham's receveing abilities together, they dont even approach Gates' alone, before you factor Manu as a very good TE2. As for blocking, Graham is the best of the bunch, but Manu isnt a slouch and Gates is more than adequate. I've no idea how Scheffler blocks, but he'd need to be the second coming of Anthony Munoz to make the receiving gap disappear.

What's the complaint here?Denver may very well be a better overall offense than San Diego.

I was expecting that he said Oakland by your reaction.

:goodposting:
ok, i'll admit my reaction may have been a little harsh becaue he didn't say Oakland, but i was amazed that he'd pick Denver. Cutler is in his 2nd season ... a little too early to crown him a success. He didn't even have a great rookie year, so I guess I question as to what Theisman saw that would lead him to believe that Denver would surpass the Chargers as the best offense in their division. SD has been among the most lethal offenses for a few years now, so it'll take more than a 2nd year QB for Denver to surpass SD>
:) SD has the top RB, a great TE and that is it. Below average WRs and an average QB.
