Andy Dalton completed 20-of-28 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown in the Saints' 17-16, Week 13 loss to the Buccaneers, adding one yard on one carry.
Dalton was relatively efficient in a game the Saints held a 13-point lead with only three minutes remaining, only to watch Tom Brady score twice in the final three minutes to steal the victory. Inarguably his best throw of the game came on 3rd-and-17 with just over two minutes remaining, but a massive hit on Taysom Hill by Jamel Dean dislodged the ball to give possession back to the Bucs. Dalton's only touchdown pass of the game came on a busted coverage to quarterback/tight end/ fullback/water boy/calendar boy Taysom Hill half way through the second quarter and his longest completion of the night came early in the game on a 40-yard dime to Rashid Shaheed. Dalton maintains his status as the starting quarterback for the Saints for now, something that could be addressed during the team's Week 14 bye.

Panthers signed QB Andy Dalton, formerly of the Saints, to a two-year, $10 million contract.
The deal includes $8 million "fully guaranteed" and apparently includes another $7 million in incentives. Although Dalton will ultimately end up the clipboard holder for whomever the Panthers take at No. 1 overall, he could end up the "bridge" starter if the top selection is a raw prospect like Florida's Anthony Richardson. For now, it appears the Panthers are eyeing up Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, who would have an easier time easily dispatching Dalton. The computers liked Dalton in 2022, but his already modest deep game has disappeared. He failed as a bridge man for the 2021 Bears. The Panthers need to avoid 2023 Dalton starts at all costs unless it is to protect an unprepared rookie.

Panthers coach Frank Reich said QB Andy Dalton will get first-team reps at OTAs.
Bryce Young will rep with the second team behind Dalton. The Panthers are committed to playing out the process with Young, who will need to unseat Dalton to start. It's rare for teams not to start the No. 1 overall pick Week 1, but Dalton held off No. 11 pick Justin Fields as a rookie in Chicago. Panthers GM Scott Fitterer has said the team 'has no timeline' for playing Young.

Panthers writer Darin Gantt reports Andy Dalton is expected to start in Week 3 against the Seahawks.
The Red Rifle is back. Bryce Young has been sidelined with an ankle injury and already ruled out for the week. Dalton, 35, will get his first start with the Panthers in a road matchup against the Seahawks as he tries to get the Panthers’ passing attack back on track. The Panthers are dead last in passing yards per game (133.0), but Dalton was solid as a starter for the Saints last season. The veteran quarterback threw for 2871-18-9 in 143 starts for the Saints, and could have some appeal in 2QB and superflex leagues.
Well said. Ha ha. Welcome back Red Rocket. Now throw the damn ball to Diontae!!!Hello darkness my old friend
While I agree on the premise, i will say what helps a bad line immensely is getting rid of the ball quick. 3 step drop pass. 3 step drop pass. Red Rocket will fly!!!!Riley
The Panthers watching Bryce run for his life behind that OL and thinking "yeah let's put 36 year old Andy Dalton back there" is the funniest thing everx.com

I've come to talk with you againWell said. Ha ha. Welcome back Red Rocket. Now throw the damn ball to Diontae!!!Hello darkness my old friend
That's the million dollar question. I have no idea. They invested soooo much in Young. Do they simply move on already? Tough call. My gut says if Dalton at least plays decent, he continues to start. ANY moments of struggle I think he has a quick hook and we see Young againWhat are the odds Dalton keeps the job? Even if he plays well, do the Panthers give Young another chance, like Miami did when Fitzpatrick was playing very well and then they went to Tua to see what he could do in a real game?
