QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (2 Viewers)

Every radio and sports televison show you turn echos my statements regarding Hurts ... They say he looks lost, confused and slow to react
Its been that way since he was figured out a couple of years back
To compare him to Daniels is insane! Daniels is winning games for WAS and Hurts just has to not lose them.
Daniels is playing on a team that had one of the worst Olines and rosters in the NFL coming into this season
Hurts is playing on a team that unanimously has one of, if not , the best Olines and rosters year after year
WAS is in the playoffs because of Daniels
PHI is in the playoffs in spite of Hurts and because of Barkley

Yeah, without Barkley, they wouldn't be in the playoffs. It's been a long time since the Eagles made the playoffs. Thank god for Barkley breaking the playoff drought.
Yeah, like Barkley is awesome and all, but they made the Super Bowl with Miles Sanders at RB. Hurts is an extremely important part of the team (I'd argue the most important, which is true of pretty much any team with a good QB) and he gets unfairly punished because his pass TD count is low, even though his overall TD count is 8th in the NFL, despite missing 2 games.

Regardless of how "good" he is, he is the right tool for the job in that offense. Can't argue with that, no matter how much it pains me.

They have the best RB, OL and top 5 receiving/TE group in the league and it’s not close, yet they play offense like they are the 1948 SMU Mustangs. He stinks at QB and he’s not getting faster or agile.

He just sat there and ate that safety.

Supporting cast can make stats deceptive, sure, but there's just no way that #21 all-time in career passer rating (higher than Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford) who is also #3 on the list of career rushing TD's for QB's, stinks at QB.

Dak is 8th and Watson is 6th. Interesting.

Career passer rating. Cmon man, let’s real talk. You think that stat means anything in relationship to talent?

Also for you stat nerds…

Did both players play under the same exact circumstances against the same exact players, with the same time of possession, with the same defensive health, with the same coaching, with the same time a day, with the same weather conditions? Same down and distance?

Unless those are all the same stats are meaningless.

So by your measure, Jalen Hurts is the 23rd best QB ever?

I don’t let a professional entertainment full of other grown men impact me in any way or define me as a person.

And unlike you, I can talk about players without bringing up the Dallas Cowboys.

Both are far better QBs than Hurts but both stink.

Dak Prescott is the 8th best passer of all
Time.

Passer rating is a sum based on completions, passing yards, passing TD's, interceptions, and all based per attempt. I think that is a great summation of a quarterback's performance overall. Like I said, the numbers can be deceptive and must be taken with a grain of salt. But very far from "meaningless" in my opinion.

Passer rating is a totally pointless stat. As is YPC, YAC, etc….

Again, if you aren’t playing under the same exact same circumstances, then it’s a stupid meaningless stat.

Sure is fun to try and use them to make points and discussion I guess.

Some of the things you mention that affect a QB's stats are things that generally only affect volume stats. Time of possession, defensive health? That's essentially factored out since we're talking per-attempt stats.

If you read the list of career passer rating leaders, you'll see it's far from random. Yeah, there are plenty that would be significantly higher and plenty that would be significantly lower on the list if it were truly indicative of their overall talent and performance. But very meaningful on the average.

Then what stats are meaningful to compare player X vs Y? Because no 2 players are ever going to have the same circumstances.

The top 10 active qualifying QB's by passer rating, highest first:
Rodgers
Mahomes
Jackson
Burrow
Wilson
Watson
Prescott
Tagovailoa
Garoppolo
Cousins

The bottom 10 active qualifying QB's by passer rating, lowest first:
Gabbert
Hoyer
Darnold
Daniel Jones
Brissett
Flacco
Keenum
Mac Jones
Lawrence
Trubisky

I wouldn't call that random.

Speaks to how bad Darnold was before this season to still make that list.

Wow you are awfully sensitive. Sorry for calling out your low level analysis of “he stinks”. You and your twin are just using stinky bait that deserved the call out. I’ll let you continue to obsess over our QB that plays this weekend, enjoy!

What I find interesting is that stats are apparently meaningless. It's very curious to me since I've always used stats of all kinds to help me prep for fantasy football drafts

I think you gotta give a little bit of leeway too. when saying a player is the 20th or 30th best ever even if you think hes the best, to qualify as the best ever, the player needs to stand the test of time. Hurts is still a young player. lots of time to move up that list.

on another note I find that people tend to focus in on certain stats. but the reality is there are a large number of ways you can evaluate a QB.

Yards and td/INT, qb rating, wins and losses. maybe the most important evaluation tool...... superbowls won.

but hey we all have our preferences, but in the end, the goal when you draft a QB #1 overall, you want to win a championship. This should be the goal of every team. if you have not won a championship I find it tough to justify ranking any qb in the top 10

Dude be real ... The Push is why he has so many TDs ... The best Oline in the NFL basically use that dummy as battering ram .
80-90% of his TDs are from 1-2 yds out ... very unimpressive
He's tied with Fitzmagic for YPC, behind Aaron Rodgers, and almost a full YPC behind Daniel Jones

That’s right, stats don’t matter again. 🙄🤣

Dude be real ... The Dueche Push is why he has so many TDs ... The best Oline in the NFL basically use that dummy as battering ram .

They shat all over Hurts last year. Now they think he’s Joe Montana again. They will agree with you again soon.

And it’s only 3-4 of them. Most Eagles fans here are cool.

And Sirianni when his team quit on him

Now he’s Vince Lombardi. For now
soooooooo obsessed with us
In their defense, they always have a lot of free time this time of year. Just ignore, they offer no value. Jalen’s W/L record speaks for itself.

I'd take Jones ove Hurts in a heartbeat
this still cracks me up
Still!

Qammy = Joe Schoen burner account
My favorite thing is always a rival fan discounting the Jalen Hurts touchdowns from the 1, but then fail to tell me

1. How they even got that close to scoring to begin with
2. Why the rest of the league (still) isn't as good at it
3. It was supposed to go away when Kelce retired, right what happened

1. How they even got that close to scoring to begin with - Thought this was obvious by now ... Best Oline and Roster in the NFL, great RBs, WRs and TEs
2. Why the rest of the league (still) isn't as good at it ... They don't have an Oline like the Eagles and the ones that are remotely close dont consider their QB expendable
3. It was supposed to go away when Kelce retired, right what happened ... They replaced Kelce with multiple great Olineman and got even better

Eagles are the best run team in the NFL ... They've built a roster so strong that it is QB proof ... which is unheard of these days
The only mistake that they made is giving Hurts a huge contract ... but it doesnt matter because their 2nd and 3rd String QBs are better then their starter

Hurts is a decent quarterback who is elevated by his surrounding situation, not the other way around. If he was on Washington I would be shocked if they made the playoffs. If Daniels was on PHI the rest of the league would have to call it quits. Environment matters immensely (e.g. Sam Darnold) and PHI has as good of a roster as anyone in the league. There will come a time when more burden is on his shoulders and I do not have a lot of faith that he will have great success. Time will tell. I think WAS wins this week and he starts taking some heat.

Scratches head. In 2020, the Philadelphia Eagles went 4-11-1. Doug Pederson got fired. Nick Sirianni got hired. The following season Hurts became the full-time starter and the Eagles won 9 games and made the playoffs.
