QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (4 Viewers)

326 yards, 3 deep TD passes, perfect 158.3 passer rating, another win. All against a top five defense and arguably #1 pass defense in the league. RB playing the QB position my hairy-***.
Hopefully the Eagles learn from this and lean into it. They should be a pass 1st team. It shouldn't matter how they won the Super Bowl last season. That's not the team they have now, this team should be throwing 35 times a game and taking routine deep shots.

I also liked the PA under center stuff. Helps the OL and gives the defense more to think about.

My favorite thing about this thread is when Jalen Hurts has great games, there literally is no action at all.

Season Ranks:

YPA: 10th
Comp %: 7th
Passing Tds: T-3
Rating: 4th

Also First player in NFL history to have a 15:1 TD:INT ratio thru the first 8 games of a season.

Add in 5 rushing TDs, pacing for 40+ total touchdowns

Is there a realistic chance that this is accurate? Hurts just flat-out defying what the coaches tell him to do? I don't see a quarterback getting away with that.

I hear ya...was really blown away to read this...there seems to be some tension with their O but if this were true that takes things to a totally different level...I do find it hard to believe he is defying the coaching-stuff...if it were that bad I would think we would have heard rumblings of it before now.

Flat out defiance is a serious accusation, and maybe incorrectly described/reported. Hesitant to "let it fly" is fairly common though and usually results in crazy low INT ratio which becomes a misleading stat on good football teams (w/ mediocre QBs). I think about someone like Alex Smith... always seemed to have a very good QB rating, which IIRC was resulting from low INTs... which was directly tied to his hesitancy to throw it downfield or toss 50/50 balls. But because Alex Smith had a good QB rating and his teams won nobody really focused on it. The 2025 Eagles kind of fit that mold. 2024 they just ran the ball like crazy which (I'm sure) helped to open up the passing game. Right now the Eagles offense is looking like the plane crash of 2023... except the defense is so dominant they are still winning.

GG

Jeez that didn’t add much. Let me try again.

I loathe the Eagles. (And Howie seems to be the only GM in football that knows what he’s doing aside from being able to keep his coach from having the ethnics represent their security force while calling plays on the sidelines.)

Patullo is not running the offense to Hurts strengths, like last year

Patullo is 100% the issue, trying to pass it off on others is not what's really going on.
the offense was much better under Moore, Patullo and his lack of experience calling plays and running an offense is glaring
He does not play to his players strong points, he is also predictable in his calls

He needs to go for someone who has a better clue on what they are doing

All of this is true. AND in parallel the QB is missing wide open guys repeatedly.

WTH does that even mean?

Dom the sideline Italian who the NFL has kept fining and Patullo the Italian calling plays.

I’m Italian and Polish. I see Dom insistently placed on the sidelines as “security” and Patullo promoted to calling plays having read what Sirianni thinks about him through anecdotes and snippets, and I just find it amusing. I don’t know. If it were my team I would notice it and make a million jokes.

Howie and Lurie are extensively documented as hating Sirianni’s personnel decisions and “introducing” him to Moore and Fangio as a condition of employment to the point where your own beat reporter said F and M were “in charge of the offense and defense” while Sirianni was “in charge of press conferences.”

Dude, if you knew all this and were confused by “ethnics” or my wording then that is understandable. WTH indeed? Anything more than that and I’d urge you to consider keeping the emotional temperature (or just the temperature your language indicates, maybe) with which you answer in proportion to your knowledge of the Eagles.

Don’t hate the league knowledge. Keep up, bruh.

I wonder why people take the criticism of the QB for the team they root for personally? It could truly be a fascinating study. Someone calls my baby ugly, sure, we are throwing hands, but the QB of my team?
