QB Jayden Daniels, WAS (3 Viewers)

Starting Daniels over Dak
given the matchups and the fact Daniels is coming back from injury I'm not sure this is wise.

most weeks Id give this comment the thumbs up but in this particular case.... not so much.

the only risk with Dak is they get way out in front early and then run the ball a lot. but the reality is the Dallas defense is crappy so no lead is really safe in Dallas.

I suspect Dak has a real nice week this week.

Is it crazy for me to consider moving JD for Maye and maybe trying to upgrade elsewhere? How far apart are these two year 2 guys?

I really like the talent/ the player. But, he hasn’t looked right all year, and you can’t just dismiss it. He’s gotta prove that he can stay on the field AND be productive regardless of the hand he’s been dealt. Otherwise, he’s not an elite QB1.

Did his injury look bad? I am seeing speculation he'll miss next week.
He got twisted and immediately grabbed the hamstring on the way to the ground. He limped off, went to the tent and then the locker room. He was seen jogging in the tunnel but then never returned to the field. The game was out of hand though as Mariota threw a pick-6 on the next possession. My concern even if he toughs it out is that his legs are a big part of his game and now he has separate issues on both of them. Not ideal.

As for injuries, there are certain QBs who play through them and others who don’t. And yes, the great ones are in the former group. So, I want to see Daniels doing it too.

I know that’s become an unpopular take in sports circles, and maybe I’m just a dinosaur. But, I want to see my QB playing through PCL sprains and minor hamstring tweaks.

Ask 2021 Baker Mayfield what he thinks about that

Baker showed tremendous strength of character by persevering through injuries. So, he checked that box for me. We’ll see if Daniels can do the same 🤷‍♂️

The injuries are just not optimal. All of their WR’s, running backs like Ekeler, and Daniels himself twice. May be a lost year and I’ll just take the draft L (while playing Danny Dimes). Bummer

Baker lost his starting position to a sex criminal and was only lucky enough to get a position back because he showed well as a backup. If he just spent some time resting he never would have lost that job.

Not losing his starting job should have been more important to him than having strong character. There's something to be said about knowing your limits and planning for the future that also shows strong character.

I think as a younger man I would have agreed with you. As an older man with a bum ankle and lower back pain, I really wish I took more time to heal.

He's playing through stuff right now and you don't hear a peep about it.

Daniels slender frame was a big part of the 2024 draft debate. There were plenty of scouts or publications that worried about Daniels skinny lower body holding up in the NFL. He's a good QB, but his legs are what elevate him into the upper tier of QBs. I'm not overly worried yet, but concern is growing.
He wouldn’t be the first incredibly talented QB drafted by Washington to make the pro bowl as a rookie and have injuries derail his career.

Even non Washington fans hope this doesn’t happen. He’s a fun player, even when he’s playing against your team (mostly referring to Alabama here)

This is sort of a silly take, first of all no 2 injuries are the same, and second, a minor hamstring tweak or any minor injury can turn into a major injury fast and then someone is out for much longer. So while sometimes yes playing through an injury may work out, there are many cases where it makes things much worse. Each player, team and docs have to make the best decision based on evidence and as fans we really have zero clue on the extent of an injury.
