QB Jayden Daniels, WAS (11 Viewers)

I will say it forever with guys like JD5, RG3, Lamar, etc ... coaches need to let them be who they are. Asking them to change the way they process the game or run w the rock is why they get injured. The guy is running/scrambling and rather that trying to make the play, they run scared thinking about how to go down or avoid the hit. Or they are in the pocket and refuse to scramble, and all that happens is they get crushed in the pocket.

Let them be aggressive, and if they get hurt so be it. And have a quality backup ready becasue it's the NFL and almost every player gets hurt by the end of the year

What's the delay on adding him to IR - no way he's back in 4 weeks
It’s possible though. Torn UCL on non-throwing arm probably doesn’t feel great, but might be something he can play through with a compression sleeve/brace.

If I’m WAS front office, I’d IR him & call it a year.
Agreed, I decided to hold in case they are stupid, but if it were me I'd shut him down.

Does the bye in week 12 count as one of the 4 IR weeks if he does in fact go on IR? If so then he's for sure not playing in weeks 10-12 so either they hope he can play week 13 and miss only 3 weeks instead of 4.

Sources: #Commanders QB Jayden Daniels’ MRI and medical opinions revealed positive news, as his dislocated left elbow is not as serious as originally anticipated. There was no ligament damage & he won't need surgery.Daniels will not be immediately placed on Injured Reserve.
Lmao HOW???

Just IR him for god sakes. Washington is so irresponsible.

I was just able to trade him for Lamar Jackson this morning and a few minutes after the trade went through that report came out. :lmao:

Commanders not protecting their franchise QB is on brand for them

Dude, literally looks like an elf on the shelf when he’s on the sideline he’s puny.

Maybe stop drafting small speedy quarterbacks to play in the NFC East.

Great kid great talent, track body

They have 8 games and a bye week remaining. If this is a 4-5 week recovery time, that leaves 4-5 games for him to play. And he needs to play. They aren't going to sit him for 4 games if he's healthy. Yes, the team around him has regressed this year, but he has also regressed (hard not to regress after that rookie year he had). There are things he needs to work on and get better at. He is being treated like a young QB who needs snaps to prepare him for a successful career rather than a 12-year vet who just needs to be ready for next season.

When he's back playing, it means he's healthy. He may get hurt again, but it won't be because he came back too early.

Doc Chao’s been spot on this from the start and has been saying since his injury occurred he’s not out for the year.

Will he beat the 5 week return that IR would have put him on? Can’t be sure but I think so.

Is he worth holding onto or picking up in a one start QB redraft league? I think it depends on the team but if you got a team that looks like it has something to play for in a few weeks and you’d like or need some QB upside I’d try and roster him if the cost is that roster spot.

I have Lamar in a one QB redraft league but just scooped up Daniels off the WW and put him into my IR slot since the owner dropped him.

Why? Two reasons:

1. Keep away from my playoff rivals who are middling at QB.

2. Week 17 fantasy championship matchup against Dallas.

He looks like a broken mess now, but this could be a different story by the fantasy playoffs and I got him for free.

To use Bloom and Lammy’s phraseology, I think Daniels is a “sabotage drop” in redraft, especially in leagues with 0-2 IR slots. I still don’t see him coming back till the very end of his recovery timetable, if at all. Moreover, he wasn’t playing like a QB1 in the first place.

Welp, I held for the news so guess I can't drop him now. Regardless of what's smart from an organizational and long-term health perspective, if he comes back around week 13 I don't see any reason why we wouldn't expect him to be at least as productive fantasy wise as he's been so far this year if not more. His leg injuries will have had time to fully heal, his throwing arm isn't affected, McClaurin will likely be back, and I'm assuming with a brace he won't have issues handing off or holding the ball while running.

Is this related to the number of IR players that can return each year?

I see 4-5 weeks here and on social media and IR is four weeks so I don't get it.

I remember "have to defend themselves" being discussed with injuries and also that includes the ability to fall down.

I imagine huge pain while landing from being sacked with a recently dislocated elbow. As you go down, you put your hand out (extending elbow) to brace yourself sometimes.

I am wondering if this isn't necessarily a true report as much as a coach wanting this air so he gets 4-5 weeks of players playing hard trying to win and not thinking the season is over.

Will we hear "One more week" over and over?
