QB Justin Fields, NYJ (5 Viewers)

Im going Fields over Geno. Dance with the one that brought you, I would not even be in a make-or-break situation to sneak into the playoffs without Field’s help.

Same boat. Good point. Fields is the reason why this decision is actually important.

I'm a favorite so I'm a little tentative. Will be pulling my hair out if Fields re-aggravates and has to leave the game.

4 things to watch in Bears-Packers game

Excerpt:

(1) How will Justin Fields perform in his return to action?

The Bears are hoping that the dynamic second-year quarterback, who is expected to start after missing last Sunday's game against the Jets with a left shoulder injury, will pick up where he left off before getting hurt two weeks ago versus the Falcons.

Fields blossomed into an impact player beginning in mid-October, producing several highlight reel plays that showcased his sensational dual-threat ability. In his last five starts, the 2021 first-round draft pick has accounted for 15 touchdowns, rushing for 552 yards and six TDs on 68 carries and completing 73 of 123 passes for 773 yards with nine TDs, three interceptions and a 92.0 passer rating.
Fields entered Week 13 ranked seventh in the NFL in rushing and first among quarterbacks with 834 yards and seven touchdowns on 122 carries. He has also recorded a rushing TD and a passing TD in five straight games, tying Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for the longest streak in the Super Bowl era.

Fields will face a Packers defense that allowed 363 yards rushing last Sunday night in a 40-33 loss to the Eagles, including 157 yards on 17 carries by quarterback Jalen Hurts and 143 yards and two TDs on 21 attempts by running back Miles Sanders.

Floor low due to reinjury risk and possibly running more safely to protect shoulder.
The team doesn't seem too concerned. He is completely off the injury report and fully practiced and he finished the game when he got injured.

Seems to be overthinking things.

my 2 cents.
With Mixon likely out, I have to swing for the fences and am going with Fields over Lawrence now. I am one of those .500 teams that must win this week to stand a chance of making the playoffs.
I am losing Mixon in 4 of my 5 semi finals today. Lawrence and Fields is a tough one for me. Lawrence seems to have a huge game lined up here.

It is a tough decision and not enjoyable when the season is on the line. If Fields had Mooney it would be an easier decision.
I have Kmet as well as Fields , im hoping he leans on his TE as ive decided to go with Fields over Tua

fingers crossed

I went Fields over Tua at last minute and it looks good so far.

Justin Fields completed 20-of-25 passes for 254 yards and two interceptions in the Bears' 28-19, Week 13 loss to the Packers.

Fields added six carries for 71 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The bulk of that production came on a 55-yard score that saw him juke a Green Bay defender into the dirt to set up the long run. Fields was also electric on deep throws, completing passes of 49 and 56 yards to N'Keal Harry and Equanimeous St. Brown respectively. His flaws, however, became apparent at the end of the game. Both of his interceptions came on forced throws in the final three minutes of the losing effort. Fields still has progress to make as a passer, but his fantasy upside is unmatched. He will rank as a top-five fantasy option after Chicago's Week 14 bye.

After today, who would trust him against Philly and Buffalo to open the fantasy playoffs?
Nope, especially if like today he only runs it 6 times. I think he had 1 in 2nd half. Useless if he doesn't run.
As someone who's other qbs are Herbert and Mike White, I may consider it. Herbert has great matchups (Mia/Ten/Ind), but that o-line is really bad. He had no time against the Raiders, who aren't exactly a defense to fear.

100%
I’ll be starting the Philly D with confidence in week 15. So there’s that.
So will I but it really means very little for assessing whether Fields is a good start. In my leagues when a QB throws an INT it's -1 for him and +2 for the D. When he takes a sack it's +1 to the D. As this relates to Fields he can make up the points on an INT with every 10 yards rushing. It's really not a factor in my leagues if Fields throws a few picks and takes a few snacks. Very easy for both to have a good day.

That makes sense. Turnovers are killers in my league and rushing QBs don’t have any real advantage outside of the actual output. For instance, in their last two starts, Geno Smith has out-scored Fields by 15 points.

He does have a high interception to attempt ratio but yesterday was his first multi INT game since week 3 and it's hard for me to be down on him over that last one when you are down two scores with under a minute left, not time to play it safe. He fumbles a lot but I think has only lost one. End result is he's averaging a hair under one turnover a game. That must be some severe turnover scoring your league plays with for that to be a big factor. I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say outside of the actual output but if rushing totals are not a big factor then that would be a massive loss for his value as that's primarily where his value lies so in that case I could for sure see sitting him.

As always it's relative to your options. But in a -1 turnover league that only gives 4 points for a passing TD, 6 points for a rushing TD and one point for every 10 yards rushing I would consider him a strong start regardless of who he's facing as long as he's healthy. Geno might be as well, though not the same upside in this scoring system. But for me I play everything in this scoring format I just outlined and have Fields on teams with Allen, Lamar, Dak, Brady, Watson, Trevor, Cousins and Hurts. Based on what I know today I would start him over everyone but Allen and Hurts and that's even when/if Lamar is healthy.

For context, over the past three weeks, Fields is the 13th ranked QB in AVG points per games played. And, that's coming against two defenses that are vastly inferior than the two he will face coming out of the BYE week. He's tied with Daniel Jones over that time period.

However, out of the QBs that you listed... yeah, I would probably agree with you that he's the choice from that group. Lamar hasn't been too great since week 3. From weeks 4-12 Lamar is the 20th ranked QB. He's being overrated every week in the pundit rankings by a lot.

Fun Fields fact:

Since 2009, only 7 players have 3 rushing TDs over 50 yards in a season.

Chris Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson, Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Derrick Henry, and now Justin Fields.

Your league is crazy hard on turnovers. In my leagues, on a PPG basis over the last 4 weeks, Fields is QB1 overall by a wide margin. The dropoff from Fields to Mahomes at #2, is bigger than the dropoff from Mahomes to Geno at #8.

As an aside, I thought Fields played excellent against Green Bay, specifically as a passer. Don't have a problem with either INT. First one was clearly the WRs fault, and the second was forcing a throw down to scores with almost no time left, which you often have to do.

I was born in 84, and have been a Bears fan since 89. I don't think I'm crazy to say Fields is the best Bears QB of my lifetime. To be fair, not exactly stiff competition, it was probably either Cutler, or that one magical Erik Kramer year in 95.

I was 13 when you were born, and although I'm an Eagles fan, I really enjoyed that Super Bowl team lead by Jim McMahon. They were super entertaining.

He's certainly the QB of the all-swagger team. He was very solid in 85, and it was real shame he got hurt in 84, which was his best season in my opinion. He was pretty solid on that 91 Eagles team, that probably had a defense as good as any short of those 85 Bears. Just had the bad luck of being stuck in a division with maybe the best single season team ever in the 91 Redskins, and a burgeoning dynasty in Dallas.

Try playing in a league like I'm in where players are penalized -3 if the they throw pick or fumble. It's brutal.

Yesterday, Justin Fields threw for a season-high 254 yards. He also hit 80% of his passes — the best of any career start.

Fields’ growth as a passer was on full display.

Fields completed two balls that were caught for a gain of 49 or more yards. Also, half of his completions went for 10-plus yards.

Justin Fields (illness) did not practice Wednesday.

While the Bears consider Fields day to day, head coach Matt Eberflus said Fields has gotten better in recent days and should be OK for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Fantasy managers should closely monitor Fields' Thursday and Friday practice participation. Even against a stingy Eagles secondary, Fields is a top-5 fantasy option.

He practiced yesterday and should be ready to roll this weekend.

Penciled in as a starter for me over Burrow, but my eraser is ready. I need upside though, so I think Fields is probably the best play. :oldunsure:

Justin Fields completed 14-of-21 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 25-20, Week 15 loss to the Eagles.

Fileds added 15 carries for 95 yards on the ground. He came up limping on his final carry of the day and went to the locker room after the play. Fields ultimately returned to throw his second touchdown of the day. The second-year passer didn't throw any interceptions but did take six sacks. He was under pressure throughout this game but could have benefited from a few throwaways. Fields still has work to do as a passer, but his fantasy prospects continue to trend upward. He will rank as a top-five option when the Bears take on the Bills.

I respect that he openly states he's out for the record.
Good news for fantasy owners.

Fields did say he hopes to set NFL's single-season QB rushing record held by Lamar Jackson (1206)
" I’m already deep in it this year so might as well try to go get that record.
I think I need, what, 206?
So, three games left?
That’s about 70 yards a game? We’ll see what happens"

Justin Fields completed 7-of-21 passes for 75 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Bears' 41-10, Week 17 loss to the Lions.

Fields opened the day with an easy touchdown toss to Cole Kmet. He broke a 60-yard run on the next drive but appeared to run out of gas as he approached the goal line. The drive turned into a field goal and Fields was spotted getting checked out by trainers moments later. He looked hesitant to run for the remainder of the game and even took another hard hit that forced him into the medical tent for a concussion check in the second half. Resigned to standing in the pocket, Fields failed to get anything going through the air while also taking seven sacks. The injuries seemingly ruined a massive performance from the league's most electric quarterback on the ground, though his early success still pushed him to a usable fantasy outing. Fields needs 64 rushing yards to set the single-season record for a quarterback. He will look to accomplish that in Week 18 versus the Vikings.
