question about league rules (1 Viewer)

I play in a 16 team redraft league, guppies and sharks, for pretty decent money. Every year the league votes to level the playing field. This year, they voted to limit roster sizes to 12 players. (start 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 d)

this leaves us with 4 bench players. What would you do? Does this work to my advantage since I do my research? Or does it neutralize any benefits of preparation? Would you continue to play in this league?

thanks

With only 12 roster spots, I would reach early on a D and a K. I would probably try to draft 1QB, 2RB's, 2WR's, and 1TE with my first 6 picks, then grab a D with my 7th. If you have a preference on a kicker, I would take him in round 9 or 10. The waiver wire will be huge, so the best starting 8 you can build becomes more important than depth.

In most cases I think the guy that does the research will benefit since you're gonna need to make a lot of moves to field a lineup each week, especially at the TE, K and D positions. Unfortunately luck will also enter into it if you have a good player that can't play for a couple of weeks - there is no DL slot for that condition. Add in a bye week and a guy like Portis that might miss a couple of weeks and it gets real complicated when trying to field a starting lineup. Most teams will probably face this situation a few times this season so a guy that really works on his team would still have an advantage. Just my opinion. For what it's worth our league also went to 4 bench players this season and I really don't like it. Makes for some real difficult decisions.

I think a big decision maker for me would be the waivers.

Free FA moves? 1.00? 2.00? 5.00? A limit to how many FA moves you can make (6 or 8 all year)?

How is the Waiver Wire set up? Standard worst team gets first crack every week?

I would think if you're an FBG subscriber and get the upside/downside articles every week, you'd have an advantage....unless your FA moves are limited or you can't get quality FA's in the top half of the standings.

Either way, I'd at least give it one season to see how it works.

four fa moves a week from worst to first. open FA after initial pickups. seems that if your stud goes down, you're screwed. Wouldn't care so much, but it's a lot of cash!the funniest thing is, the league did it to create more rb availability, and I think it will do the opposite. RB's will be snatched up and than there will be a ton of WR and QB's available every week.

I understand the theory of what you're saying, but I think you still have to wait until the end to grab a k and a D. Either way, an injury to a top 4 pick is fatal.
