Question RE: Dynasty Start Up Drafts (1 Viewer)

Most dynasty start-up drafts I have seen posted here are single drafts that include both vets & rookies. I've seen it posted by someone that it's fairer than having two drafts- a regular draft for veterans and then a rookie draft (in inverse draft order of the vet draft), but I can't remember the reasoning. Is it fairer?

I don't really know how to measure fairness. (If its in the rules before people sign up then its fair).

But I like the idea of one draft. In dynsaty there are lots of ways to build your team, concentrating to a greater or lesser degree on success now vs. youth. A single draft allows owners to make choices at every pick. Two drafts takes that away a bit, as no one can take rookies (the ultimate in unproven potential).

One of the reasons one seems to be fair as the dropoff in rookie draft is much more significant than a vet draft. Nice to get Edge James, Steve Smith and Reggie Bush compared to Larry Johnson/Anquain Boldin and Sinroice Moss. Get to like the 3rd pick and LT/Moss/DeAngelo looks awesome.

Honestly I don't understand how this even comes up as a question. Do people really think having two seperate drafts is even remotely fair?

The dropoff in rookie drafts is exponentially greater than it is in a normal draft. You'll find people that prefer the end of the draft in a regular draft, you won't find any legally sane person that prefers to be at the end of a rookie draft.

Just look at where Bush is going right now in initial dynasty drafts that include vets and rookies. In many drafts he's a top 6 pick, and is a first rounder in almost all of them. The person who picks last in the regular draft and 1st in the rookie draft essentially gets a free early 1st round pick (Bush) for free, whereas the person that picks last in the rookie draft gets what amounts to probably a 10th-15th round pick in the regular draft. Yeah.....that's fair.

Are there any links to initial dynasty drafts with IDP and rookies and vets anywhere? I just joined one and am looking for some place to research where the IDP's are coming into the draft and the rookies,
