I expect the Raiders to draft Brady Quinn, at which point I will box all my Raiders stuff and mail it to Oakland and declare my free agency as a fan.I think Moss is gone after this year. It's clear that he's given up on the team and I don't see why they would want to keep him, especially with Curry coming along and being the go-to guy. I don't have a clue about Porter.Brooks may be kept around with a restructured contract since Walter doesn't look ready to take over. Walsh has to go as OC, no question about this. He's just plain terrible.
Why not Troy Smith? I don't follow college much so I don't know if he's going back to school next season. But with Davis' man-love of Heisman Trophy winners does Smith have a shot at being #1? Or does Al only like them after they've bombed in the NFL, with a few exceptions.
Hi Mad,Smith is a senior, so he's coming out and definitely will be an option I expect the Raiders to look at. Right now, Quinn, Stanton, and Smith represent the top-3 quarterbacks we know will be in the draft. and all 3 should expect to be drafted on Day 1.While it's easy to pile on their QB play recently since it's been so bad, I tend to think of it another way: Walter, Collins, and Brooks are all VERY different quarterbacks in style, substance, and strengths. The fact that none of the three has been able to experience even remote success indicates to me that perhaps the QBs aren't the issue. Heck, even Gannon/Mirer in '03 was an offensive disaster. With the exception of Gannon, none of these guys is a superb quarterback, but they aren't the worst on earth. For example, Aaron Brooks completion % this season is actually BETTER then his career average. However, his YPA are off by more than a yard, which is terrible. The line can't keep anyone out of the backfield, so the deep pass in Oakland has gone the way of the dodo. It wouldn't matter anyway since the WRs aren't running very fast or trying very hard. Walter/Brooks combined have been sacked on passes 77 times so far this season and haven't helped themselves by having combined for the 3rd most INTs in the league. Is the quarterback play bad? Yes. but I'm not certain it's the fault of the quarterbacks. The line, playcalling, and receivers have been monumentally bad.
