After thoroughly dominating the Jags last week, the Dolphins starteres destroyed a weak KC team. Ted Ginn Jr had a magnificent punt return TD. Ricky looked strong, fast and determined, and Pennington was extremely accurrate and looked to be in sync with the offense already. Miami's D was stout for the second week in a row. Jalen Parmalee ripped off an 80 yard run, and looks like he has potential as a Dynasty/keeper stash. The Fins offense could produce a few startable players this year, and the team could surprize. KC looked god awful. Brodie Croyle belongs on a bench somewhere. There is not a starting QB on the team, and the OL was completely dominated all game. KC position players could be in for a long season.OK, Drew Carter done for the season, DWill and Stewart went nuts, Favre looked good, what else?
Yeah. What is up with that???Cleveland's Oline doesn't look good. They were dominated by the Giants which isn't horrible, but played poorly against Detriot which effing stinks.
Best summaries I find are on team message boards. After doing some surfing today.... I'm not sure football is the #1 sport anymore. I haven't found any site that had comprehensive recaps on the most important week of the preseason. Dribbles and drips.... nothing with any insight at all. Watching the Jets-Giants game, those two tools never even bothered to say who came in at DE after Osi got hurt?!? I'm a Jets fan, but Buttle took too many hits apparently when he played for the Jets, and his little Peter Clayton look alike broadcast partner is a parrot. The next thing I expect is for when MaGahee retires, he becomes Jaws X's and O's counterpart on the NFLNW. Or maybe Vince Young....I hope that FBG comes up with some reasonable recaps and game summaries.... it's a desert out there.
The G-Men were a wake-up call for the interior. Last night their were breakdowns on blitz pickups which falls more on the RB and extra TE. The Browns played on Monday Night so they had to turn around in five days. They had a QB switch due to Anderson's concussion and Quinn hadn't had enough time playing with and developing timing with the number one unit and that showed especially right off the bat where he missed badly trying to connect with Stallworth. Pro Bowl WR Braylon Edwards - OUTStarting RB and former Pro Bowler - Jamal Lewis - OUTPro Bowl QB Derek Anderson - OUTQuinn started out rough, bad throws, breakdowns in protection, and then once he began getting into a rythmn then he had some drops from backups. Starting RT/RG Ryan Tucker has been out all preseason and it seems like he is really missed out there. He is on schedule to get back healthy by the opener and then, DA, Braylon, and Jamal will also be back. Jam's backup, RB Jason Wright, ran well but he blew a blitz pickups assignment that killed one drive and he also dropped a pass on a fourth down play that killed another drive. A backup TE dropped another fourth down pass. Basically the offense has looked bad but the offense that will start the regular season will have three skill starters back and should also have starting RT/RG Ryan Tucker back as well. The offense isn't and won't be a problem. The defense is another issue entirely.Yeah. What is up with that???Cleveland's Oline doesn't look good. I'm surprised that Tucker is particularly important to this line, he missed the first 4 games last year and they were fine (post week 1) without him, and hes been out for a while and the unit has been working without him.The G-Men were a wake-up call for the interior. Frankly, I don't see that.... most opinions seem to be wieghted correcly by and large. This IS the most important PS game weekend, but most understand it's still preseason. I will draw some concusions... like KC is gonna suck again....joffer said:too many conclusions being drawn in this thread. major overreactions. yes the 3rd preseason game is important, but it's just one more indicator, not the only one.
Wow, I have never seen that many excuses evah for a team that was beat like a drum by the freakin Detroit Lions. You forgot one, Jim Brown did not suit up as well.Bracie Smathers said:The G-Men were a wake-up call for the interior. Starting with the defense first . . .The Pats have been sitting a lot of regulars in the preseason games. More importantly, they are playing the most watered down defense scheme they can muster. TOTALLY vanilla. No blitz packages. No changing up on the fly. No attempt to confuse or bait QBs. Basically nothing that opponents have had to worry about. That will all change when the games matter, so I would not be majorly concerned. They are trying about as hard as defensive players in the Pro Bowl (with the same rules . . . no blitzing). They will miss Samuel, but with better play from their front 7 they may not miss him as much as you may think. The only other player they lost worth noting is Rosy Colvin, but given the extent of his injuries I'm not sure he would have been much more than an average player at best this year. Seau is gone, and he's another one who would be able to fill a role but would not be a big cog anymore. I would not ignore Dom Capers addition to the coaching staff, as I have heard he's been making quite a difference.Offensively, they have played a lot of the "PLAYER X is slightly nicked and won't be playing" games. HOWEVER, I do think that the OL is an area for concern, as a couple guys have been out all preseason, almost the entre set of backups has been hurt, and they have brought a ton of generic replacements/bodies to try to build back their depth. NO ONE has any idea what the issue is with Matt Light. Whatever the team has tried has not gelled so far in the preseason. I can't tell you who is expected back for the regular season (OL wise), as that is where a lot of the mystery lies.Brady hasn't played or practiced much, but I give him the benefit of not needing a ton of time to get prepped for the season. The Pats schedule is relatively easy, and by the time they get a truly tough team (SD), it will be a month into the season and I would think the guys currently dinged would be back.So no, I don't think the sky is falling, but as of today there games might be closer than expected and they may not be the class of the league. That could easily change a few weeks into the season, and I doubt they lose a game in September even if they are not firing on all cylinders right now.Tanner9919 said:One thing that cannot be overlooked is the fact that NE has looked horrible, absolutely abismal. When was the last time anyone started a Lions TE in their fantasy league........and who was it?
I thought Brady Quinn looked terrible.
Kevin Smith didnt play last night, he played yesterday. Did you watch the game? What makes you think he will not play as well as he did, i thought he only looked average. LJ is in for a long season behind that OLine, not to mention Croyle as the starter. Nobody is good enough to do well against constant 8 men fronts with a horrible OLine.Tanner9919 said:got the feeling you can't take much out of the weekend's preseason games...I doubt Kevin Smith does as well this season as he looked last night, LJ is better that what we saw last night ( Chiefs play an easy run schedule, 6 games against SD sans Merriman, Raiders, Denver will give LJ a lot of yards)..

what else are we supposed to do. I feel like it a week before xmas and I'm 6.Oh and I watched 5 nfl games yesterday online. Awesome. I won't need to waste time watching any of their games.Though granted, they didn't look anywhere NEAR as good as the Colts typically look every preseason.FavreCo said:Washington is going to suck.
For now, Gaffney starting in 3 recevier sets and Jackson on the field in 4 receiver sets. As constituted, I doubt either one would be a Top 50 fantasy WR. If Jackson gets his act together, at some point he could flip flop with Gaffney (and probably have slightly better fantasy value than Gaffney would have in the same role).DY - what are your (current) impressions of the WR2 * battle* in NE between Gaffney and C Jackson? "so you're saying there's a chance..." / Lloyd ChristmasThx DY. I'm probably one of the overly enthusiastic Gaffney (dynasty) owners who feared/assumed Jackson would finally take the job over if healthy. Granted we haven't seen the first unit on offense play together w/ Brady, so BB may be playing w/ us. IF one of these guys takes over (i.e. gets 70+% of the WR2 work), I think they could be a nice WR3 FF option - maybe 65 / 700 / 5 as D's will be foreced to gameplan for Moss w/ saftey help over the top and nickel corners chasing Welker around.Agree that if they split the WR2 in half, it will beDavid Yudkin said:For now, Gaffney starting in 3 recevier sets and Jackson on the field in 4 receiver sets.
