Quiznos Subs files for bankruptcy (1 Viewer)

I'm lucky enough to have a Wegmans close by. Love their subs.
Not even in the same stratosphere as the places discussed in this thread.
Yeah, I know. I just brought it up because it's the main reason I hardly ever eat at any of them.

I agree with most that Subway sucks. Our Quiznos closed down a year or two ago, and I didn't even notice for a long time. We don't have a Jersey Mikes here, but the couple times I've eaten at one weren't very memorable. A Firehouse opened near where (and a little after) the Quiznos closed. I've tried it a couple times, and it seems pretty good, but I agree with the poster who said you don't get much for the price.

The Wegmans is just as convenient for me and the subs are so, so much better.

When Subway first came out big, it was a healthier option to the standard fast food burger and chicken chains.
In not sure it was ever healthier than, say, McDonald's. The meat is likely better at McDonald's (except maybe the McRib), the bread is probably the same. Subway offers more vegetable toppings, but more crappy mayonnaise as well. Chips might be better than fries, but I'm not sure how different they really are.I doubt there's much of a difference, really.
Exactly

I'll never eat Subway again.

Submarina is better.

But I'll straight shank a biitch for some Jersey Mike's.
That's two people now that really love Jersey Mike's. :hifive:
I'm assuming you guys are referring to the franchise locations...I'm not much of a fan of those, but you'd crap yourselves if you ever ate at the original on the Jersey shore.

Wegmans bread is amazing. When I go back home to Jersey for family stuff, it's a requirement that my mother get all the bread for sandwiches from there.

They bought the recipe from a Rochester, NY local sub shop named dibellas( http://dibellas.com/about.asp ). Agreed the bread is amazing.

There are a myriad of other categories of franchises that are not food and do not carry these issues. B2B consulting, contracting, health and fitness, senior care, dog grooming, hell I've heard of a franchise that does nothing but sell olive oil.
I hear the contracts for those 'olive oil' franchises are killer.

Quizno's dropped the bag when Subway exploded a little less than 10 years ago. I never had a cold sub from Quizno's but always liked the chicken carbonara and honey mustard chicken. However, their subs were far more expensive, and while the quality was better than Subway, the subs were noticeably smaller as well. I think the last time I ate at a Quizno's was around the start of Subway's $5 footlong campaign which they created $4 Bullet subs to compete against them. Tried one of those, worst "sub" Ive ever had, almost no meat and on a thin piece of hard french bread. I rarely go to Subway mostly because Im not a fan of their cold subs, but dont have a problem going there for a sweet onion chicken teriyaki or a meatball sub when Im in a pinch.

I like Jimmy John's but find it a little overrated. There's Firehouses down here but have yet to go to one, whoever mentioned they have a ton of hot sauce options though got me more interested. Love Jersey Mike's but since moving down here I have one of those and a Wawa less than 5 minutes from me. Have yet to go to Jersey Mike's and been to Wawa a ton. JM's has a better italian sub no doubt, but for me Wawa is an easy decision when I can get a 10 inch for less than $5 and roasted red peppers are a free topping. Most places dont even have roasted red peppers as an option let alone for free, and heck, most pizza places charge it as a double priced topping. Haven't had anything else at Wawa but the italian is money.
