Quizz Rodgers (1 Viewer)

de Tocqueville

Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers is using his Twitter account to raise questions about whether or not he will enter the 2011 NFL Draft. He reportedly has typed “money over everything” and “opportunity of a lifetime, don’t let it pass.” What he is referring to is unclear. Obviously, we all speculate that he is referring to entering the draft. I guess we have to wait a couple of weeks for an official decision.
SourceMy question is, could he be like MJD or Tatum Bell? I am not sold on Quizz in the NFL.

The chances are against him he won't be MJD. MJD is bulkier/heavier. Under 200 lb RB's don't succeed in the NFL - Quizz is listed at 193 - is that his current weight? Though, Warrick Dunn was able to buck that trend. I can't think of any others though.

People state in their scouting reports Quizz is a superb between the tackles runner. That could help him if he keeps that up in the NFL. - how would you compare Sproles/Quizz between the tackles skills in college?

Chris Johnson and Jamaal Charles were in the 190s.

Ahmad Bradshaw is 198

Maybe he's moving to USC?

I expect a pretty productive NFL career from Rodgers whenever he enters the NFL.
I really like this kid myself. While it may not be a fantasy relevant impact Year 1, I see him turning some heads turn year 1.I see more MJD (silly to expect that type NFL impact nor is Quizz that jacked in his lower half), but I think he's more than Sproles (while a great receiving threat in space, simply can't run in the tackles). Probably somewhere between those 2 players.

Yep I agree. If he lands on the right team he could be a fantasy stud (PPR especially). Either way I still think he is a future fantasy starter.

Quizz is much more MJD than Sproles.

He is very bulky/muscular for his height.

I think he'll be a good player too. If he were a couple inches taller and 15 pounds heavier he would be a first round pick. As it is you have figure that he's going to find a way to make an impact. Maybe not as a starter, but possibly as a committee back. Bradshaw is a pretty decent comparison. People who have doubts about Quizz should watch him work.
Not mind-blowing stuff, but you can see why he has been so successful. He has a good initial burst and it's very hard to get a clean hit on him because he's so quick. I have to figure that there's a role for this guy in the NFL. I just don't know what kind of workload he'll get. He's definitely not the heaviest back around. We'll have to wait until the combine for his actual height/weight though.

IIRC MJD had to bulk up as well. Question with Quizz and adding bulk or weight is - will that harm his game. I haven't seen as much of him in the last year since being on the East coast now, but what I saw prior was impressive. I'd need to see more obviously but he could have a pretty good impact IMO.

How do his seasons stats compare to MJD's? Both played in the PAC-10. As a PAC-10 fan, my uninformed recollection is that both dominated the league, but MJD seemed a little better because he was also returning punts.

Rodgers had better stats than MJD's. I didn't think he'd declare for the NFL draft since his brother was granted another year of eligibility.

I hope he does well in the NFL, he will certainly be missed at Oregon State.

Nice. Always liked watching him play at OSU. The recent success of smaller guys as effective role players (Sproles, Woodhead, McCluster) should work in his favor.

There is a rumor that James Rodgers may miss the first half of the 2011 season. If so, it makes a bit more sense for Jacquizz to leave early since he wouldn't get to play much with his brother anyway.
