R. Moss - to Packers for a draft pick ! (1 Viewer)

The Raiders don't have to move him though and Al would be happy with keeping him even if most of the fans want him gone. So there goes the Pack attempt to "steal" him for a 3rd. I think the Pack will blink first and end up offering more than they should for Moss on the downside of his career.
 Thompson cherishes his draft picks (maybe TOO much). He may have some interest in Moss, but it will be on his terms. It could happen, but I would be shocked if it was more than a 3rd and that may even be too costly for him to give up.

But...but...just IMAGINE Jamarcus Russell, the man-mountain, standing back there with four defensive linemen draped on him, yet still using his legendary arm strength to heave it 80 yards to a streaking Randy Moss, who is single covered because of the defense's fear of Jerry Porter for six!JUST IMAGINE IT!!!
Hmmm.......This is the same Randy Moss and Jerry Porter that played for the Raiders last year, correct? Jerry "Screw Al, it's my parking spot now" Porter and Randy "Those clouds are so pretty up there" Moss, wow, you are right!! Just Imagine It!!!!Personally, I would rather imagine Calvin Johnson catching passes from this year's Heisman Trophy winner.
I think you should save up for a new sarcasm detector. Yours appears to be broken.

Moss is just the type of guy that could put together a huge career comeback season with Favre's tunnel vision for him.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter believes the Bills will be willing to part ways with Willis McGahee in exchange for a first-day pick.

Since coach **** Jauron admitted he was on the market on Tuesday, there have been whispers that Buffalo would trade McGahee for a third-round selection. The Bills don't have any realistic replacements on their current roster, so they'd need to sign or draft their next starting tailback.

If this is true - as a Packer fan... I would MUCH rather see TT give up a 3rd for McGahee than a washed-up R Moss!

This is some strong info buddy, Willis on the packers for a third rounder is fantastic! Ya Ya I know, injury prone and a under achiever! Blah Blah lets pull the trigger Ted, stat! Come on Dodge, I know you have something to say about this!!!

You think Favre would suddenly forget he has Donald Driver?
No kidding. #### Randy Moss, let him rot somewhere else. Merrill Hoge made a good point. Green Bay is the youngest team in the NFL and do you really want those young players seeing a guy like Moss strutting around the complex? No way. I'll take Brett, William Henderson, Donald Driver and Al Harris as my role models thanks!.

If the Raiders actually do trade Moss, I think that would bode well for any rookie quarterback the may draft. Also, if Moss played for the Packers, Donald Driver would have an awesome season.

Na. Keep him for at least 1 season. Thats great you have role models, but how about winning more games? DD, Favre and Green are getting older, how about igniting a match to the team. He seems unmotivated because most would be on the Raiders. They were the laughing stock of the NFL last year and their QB was sacked before he even saw 18. He has talent left, and I certainly believe he will not be a cancer to a team. Especially one with Brett Favre.Favre + DD + Moss = . If Moss isn't there, its probably another season with no playoffs. Take your pick.

ESPN SC has something coming in a few minutes about Favre and a new WR...anyone catch the earlier shows on who it is?

Eh, just report that the Packers have interest in Randy Moss

Per John Clayton

1. GB interested

2. Moss interested enough to restructure his contract

3. Trade that is unlikely to happen

In the grand scheme of things I think Moss is a better teammate than some other possible prospects out there.
This tickled my curiosity. Name me some available prospects who Moss "is a better teammate" than. I personally think he's an outrageously bad teammate who has historically gotten by on productivity alone. He won't block when asked, and jogs his routes when he isn't the target. Has this guy ever done anything that displayed him to be a good teammate? Most would say he's a 100% "me" guy. If you're saying he could be a more productive teammate, well ok, that's different.
I believe a lot of this same stuff was said about Andre Rison too. :hot:

I understand the point you are making, but that really is not a response to me. I was questioning Challenge's statement that Moss is a better teammate than other prospective targets. How Andre Rison worked out 10 years ago has absolutely no relevance. I was not questioning that this could work out for the Packers, I was questioning the statement that Moss is a better teammate than other prospects.

hearing ESPN re-package and replay this same story as though it's new every day for the next 6 weeks is going to be awesome!

I think giving $17 million dollars against the cap to two Raiders cast-offs if a genius move. Woodson, then Moss. Next year they can get LaMont Jordan and then Jerry Porter, then Sabastian Janikowski...TALENT BABY!!! The Packers would be STACKED!

Where there is smoke there is fire. Whether ESPN says this is going to happen or not, it is definitely a discussion that is happening between both teams. Moss has already agreed to re-structure which means he was contacted by the Raiders about the possibilty, as this is one of the major stipulations in a move. I don't think it will be for Rodgers. I could see a 2nd rounder or a 3rd rounder and a player. There are only 2 real suitors for Moss (GB and Jax). It is a buyer's market if Davis wants to move him.

Charles Woodson was a borderline Pro-Bowler for the Packers last season.Maybe, just maybe, the Raiders organization doesn't get the most out of their players.

Umm those aren't terrible players you just mentioned. Players with talent in a bad organization.

Agreed. They aren't terrible players. That's why the first thing I mentioned was the money. I don't think spending that kind of money on guys like that (injury problems, desire questions, off-field problems) is a smart move at all.

I wonder if Thompson is looking for Moss to sign a contract similar to A. Green's last year. Incentive based but a contract that could be worth much more than market value if he performs and stays in line. I could see something like this and Moss staying in line. Moss, for as much bad press there has been about him is a football player that does play to win. When he does not he speaks up about it but not in the way other figures choose to do it.

Why would Moss do this, he is due 9 or 10 million next year.

Why would anyone trade for him, Oakland can't afford to keep him and will cut him.

Lets face it, Favre likes to throw deep, and Moss would be his main target on deep routes.
True but McCarthy brought back more of a true west coast offense whereas 70% of the passes are short to medium range. That's the area of the field that Driver excels at. Driver's numbers would explode if the Packers had a WR like Moss to stretch the defense out and open up the middle for him.

McCarthey also didn't have a WR that could stretch the field last season. Hard to call many deep routes when the wideouts can't get behind the defense.

Randy Moss-WR- Raiders Mar. 4 - 11:57 am et

The Raiders continue to talk to the Packers about a possible trade involving Randy Moss, according to Profootballtalk.com.

Discussions were on hold while Oakland was speaking with Jeff Garcia but now have picked back up. The Raiders are believed to have already offered 2005 first-rounder Aaron Rodgers in exchange for the Mossman.

True but Favre gets tired of the dink and dunk and goes very long on occassion. He did it to both Driver and Jennings last season.

If this is true, TT better pull the trigger. This would be a great trade for Green Bay.

I realize that but McCarthy offense is not a vertical offense where they will be constantly throwing the ball deep. Even with Moss in the fold their offense won't throw the ball deep nearly as much as they did under Sherman.

I can't find the link for this- but I read this a few days ago saying that it was a counter to Oakland's offer of an 08 first for Moss. It supposedly was not something that Oakland was interested in.

It's possible that Moss realized he has a ton of money, but he's got a bad rep and he's never played for a winner. He's also arguably never played with a stud quarterback. And if he took a pay cut to go to Green Bay and somehow Favre got to go out on top, he'd go from zero to hero. Most players will still take the money when all is said and done, but Moss is a little nutty, he's a huge contract enough that he might be willing to trade money for a chance to win, and he's got to realize that he's not going to see the end of his current contract if he doesn't turn things around soon.

If this happens I think it's ironic that Buff went out on a limb to draft him as an injury risk in the first round hoping to avoid cintract issues with Henry and now they might only get a 3rd for him. Amazing.

He's also arguably never played with a stud quarterback.
Wrong.Culpeppers '03 numbers: 295 of 454, 3479 yards, 25 TDs and 11 picks.Pep's '04 numbers: 379 of 548, 4717 yards, 39 TDs and 11 picks.Daunte would have an MVP award in his closet of Peyton didn't break the record in 2004. Just because he went to #### once Randy left doesn't mean he wasn't stud while Randy was there.

Why on Earth would the Packers want to trade for McGahee when they can draft Lynch in the 1st round?

Or even Bush in the second?

This makes zero sense.

The Moss trade makes sense. Think about who defenses would double team - Moss or Driver? Run Moss and Jennings wide, put Driver in the slot, and then in October you throw in Robinson and run 4 wide. Hell, you could put my daughter in at halfback and she could average 4 YPC with the holes she'd be seeing.

McGahee. Hurmph. :boxing:
