Last time wasn't really fair to go up against a legendary band like PF. So how does Radiohead fair against a band that came after them but fits a similar mold in almost the same genre.

Who do you prefer?

Radiohead not close...not angry enough for Queens of the Stoneage or most harder rock which is admittedly one of my least favorite genres of music.

Why not compare Radiohead to Foo Fighters? or Stone Temple Pilots. Same thing, IMO. Apples to Oranges. Dumb comparison.

OK Computer will go down as a top 5 album from our generation. It is now. It was 15 years ago. It will be 50 years from today. Queen Of The Stone Ages is a nice little band with some decent songs, but they will not have any album lionized quite the same way OK Computer is, was and will be. Period. And it's not really debatable.

I love Radiohead and QOTSA, almost equally.

But everything QOTSA has ever done has been gold to me, the same isn't the case with Radiohead. Creep and Karma Police might be two my all time favorite songs. But QOTSA just churns em out, every album, without fail. Even their side projects, Eagles of Deathmetal, Them Crooked Vultures, Hommes work with UNKLE, its all great.

Their most recent release ...Like Clockwork was an amazing album, I Appear Missing, Like Clockwork and The Vampyre of Time and Memory - perfect.

Regular John is better than anything Radiohead has ever done.

and then it goes on....

Rated R and Songs for the Deaf are just.... flawless.

What's the best Queens album? I have their 2013 release which is good. Songs for the deaf got a ton of radio play. Liked Kyuss but nowhere near as deep as Radiohead, IMO.

I disagree. Songs for the Deaf and Era Vulgaris are nearly flawless albums that will still be relevant to fans of the genre decades from now. OK Computer is a good album as well but again relevant to its genre. It will resonant years from now with fans of that genre.

Each band pushes the envelope of creativity in their own way. IMO though Queens is just more fun to listen to even with the heavier topics.

Anybody got any Queens albums they can send me? I have their latest one.
Spotify?
Yeah yeah yeah...okay. I know that exists, but I don't subscribe to it so when I run or bike and want to listen to their albums only, then what?
Ask people if here if they have any of their albums.
I think that's what I did.
Maybe he's challenging the order?

Radiohead is the ultimate acquired taste band. If you drink HighLife for 10 years and someone offers you a fine scotch it's going to taste like crap and you don't understand how people could ever drink it. i'll admit I gave up on them when I heard Creep on the radio. The song did not and does not appeal to me at all. Didn't listen to anything they had done for ten years after that. t wasn't until i heard someone do a cover of 2+2 = 5 that I started digging through their stuff and they started to appeal to me. It was almost like a light came on and I was like "oh, that's what they're doing."

Sure, I have them all.
Got 'em from Ahrn. Listened to Rated R on my bike ride home Monday. It's good and maybe in time I'll call it great. Opening track "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" is interesting as I like songs about drugs, but not sure I'm hearing anything more complex lyrically than what a fraternity kid might write on LSD. Nothing wrong with it, just not blown away by it.

I gave "Better Living Through Chemistry" two listens. Excellent.

Now, you say up top you "don't get Radiohead" and I hear that a lot. But I was absolutely struck by how much THIS SONG by QOTSA reminds me of THIS SONG by Radiohead. Maybe you've not heard it before, but I absolutely love the horns rocking hard in both tunes. What about Radiohead's "National Anthem" do you not get that you get about "I Think I Lost My Headache"? I like both tunes a lot.

To me most of QOTSA opening songs ramp into the meat of the album, it wasn't really until ...Like Clockwork that that changed, imo.

Even 'This Lullaby' is followed by a high speed 1 minute song that dives right into the album.

Wasn't Radiohead originally "cool" because they weren't mainstream? Then this album became more legendary than truly great (IMO, others will vary) and is now probably the most overrated album of all time.

You know I think that is like one of the only Radiohead songs that I like, I have heard it before, yes.

Better Living through Chemistry is one of their best songs but I find Rated R to be a little overrated. It's good, don't get me wrong, but I prefer Songs for the Deaf, the Self Titled and even Like Clockwork over it. I only say that because a lot of people think Rated R is the best.
