Raider backfield (1 Viewer)

McFadden is infinitely more talented than Bush and always has been. He was in college and he was in the pros. Being injured doesn't take away natural talent, and only a fool would say Bush is equally talented. McFadden has speed and receiving ability Bush has never had.

Bush is a good back, but they are not comparable in terms of talent.

It's funny how many Bush supporters flocked to the thread after a good game...yet it's awfully quiet in here after his crap performance vs. SF.
It was one game. The run blocking was horrible and there was no pass offense, which meant Sf stuffed the box. If you want to draw a conclusion on one game, go for it. I have watched both of these guys play almost every game of their careers and they both have strengths and weaknesses. Neither is a great back but both are competent starters. Bush has a better yard per carry for his career rushing, but McFadden gets more out of the passes. What do you want us to say? Bush had a bad game, he must suck? Or, what?
That is enough of an admission. Three weeks into the season, a lot of people were still saying that McFadden was not an "NFL caliber RB" and that Bush was a talented RB finally getting his shot. Just hearing people admit that (1) Bush is not an amazing talent and (2) McFadden is at least as talented as Bush is at least closer to reality than the Bush hype during draft time and at the start of the season.
I actually think this is wrong. I think most of the people in here think that the situation is fluid in the sense that both will assume roles. Myself included, I don't believe either back will (or even should) dominate the touches given their different skill sets.

I'm not talking about how they've looked for their entire career. It's been my opinion Bush has looked better than McFadden...until this season. From what I've seen this year, McFadden >>> Bush. I'm not positive it will continue but that's what I've been predicting for some time. Scan this thread or virtually any other McFadden thread - I've constantly said he is the guy to own and will be a top 10 rb when healthy (which is admittedly a concern).I could certainly be wrong but I don't make a lot of calls...when I do, I stand by 'em 100%.

Did McFadden practice yesterday?
Yes and apparently "cut it loose" on a few plays and looked good. If no setbacks and a full practice today he will definitely play, probably start, and possibly see north of 17 carries, 22 total touches.
That's what I like to hear. I wasn't sure who to start bush/mcfadden since it is DMCs first game back. But since he is moving well I feel safer starting him.

Bush dynasty owner here.Anyone expecting Bush to be the primary ball carrier is dreaming.Anyone expecting McFadden to be the primary ball carrier is dreaming. One trend I've noticed is fantasy owners forgetting which decade this is. 10-15 years ago, we had a bunch of RBs that received 80% of the team's carries. How many teams are there like that now? Two? Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson. That's about it. And Peterson is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. If Bush and McFadden are both healthy, you can pretty much count on a 50/50 split.
I see your point, but I think guys like Frank Gore, Peyton Hillis, Steven Jackson and Cedric Benson are workhorses as well at the moment. There are still a few RBs getting the vast majority of touches when healthy.
Absolutely. My list is incomplete. Gore is a full grown man. But as talented as Gore is, I think his carry percentage is also a reflection of the dearth of RB talent on the SF roster. I think most coaches would rather have two talented RBs getting regular work than just one.
No, Gore has a unique skillset. I think he would be a bellcow above some of the best RB2s in the league. Maybe not LT but he's more like RB1 at this point.
I completely agree, and I must not be making myself clear. Sorry. Gore is an incredible talent. My only point was that a good #2 RB would keep Gore fresher.

Well it looks like McFadden practiced again and could be a full go Sunday, with that being said since both are healthy it could be healthy split. Thanks M. Bush for the 2 week run, back to the WW soon.

I agree if he is healthy DMC is the play here. But I would wait a little while before you drop Bush in case of further injury to DMC.

 Spot on. McFadden looks like he is playing on a whole new level this year. I wonder where this has been the past few years, but with Russell, I have to think his inability to open up the passing game caused the decline.

I have no insider info at all and don't know the severity of his hamstring injury. FWIW, when he hurt his other hamstring during preseason he missed the first two games and came back Week 3 (7 carries, 9 yards, but it was preseason).
