*RAIDERS/TITANS game thread* (8pm EST on FOX) (1 Viewer)

This is where the Chris Johnson choo choo train gets temporarily derailed!
Will anybody's view of these RBs change after the game, regardless of how they perform? Probably not. :unsure:But I will be that McFadden is well aware of CJ's run last week, and is going to want to burst out for a long one too.

People really seemed to change views on Johnson after preseason game 1, so why not this one? Not saying that I'm one of them.

Titans plan for the 1st unit is to pass alot more(most teams don't throw much in week 1 of preseason so...)

Each team's supposed to play starters 3 series

Actually the Chris Johnson bandwagon should have a field day against Oak. However, Vince should look horrific if he attempts to throw against Oak. 1st string D.

There isn't a WR on either of these 2 teams that had FFL value.

If Vince Young and those WRs move the ball consistently on D-Hall and Nnamdi, I'll start looking forward to '09.
Are Hall and Soup playing tonite?
I don't see why not.
By Jerry McDonald - NFL WriterWednesday, August 13th, 2008 at 2:36 pm in Oakland Raiders.Quick hits from Wednesday’s last full practice of training camp:– Cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and DeAngelo Hall, two of the most significant investments of the Raiders’ offseason, are hurting.X-Rays were negative on Asomugha’s right foot, which isn’t the same as saying there is no discomfort.“Right now it hurts when I walk,” Asomugha said. “It definitely hurts breaking on the football. I’ll continue to be limited in whatever I’m doing but I don’t think it’s a big issue.”Said Kiffin: “He’s fine and ready to go. He worked really hard today, too. It was good to see.”Hall continues to play with a cast on his right hand. He told the San Francisco Chronicle Tuesday there was a broken bone in his hand.“We’re getting another opinion on it, another person to look at it,” Kiffin said. “(The) only thing that we know for sure is that it is a bruise. It’s a bruise with a possible sprain. So we’ve got got to make sure it’s not broken. There has been nothing so far that has said that it’s broken, none of the readings. But we want to make sure of this.”Hall shrugged his shoulders and went with the program.“Somebody asked me, `How do you feel knowing it’s not broken?,’ ” Hall said. “That was the first time I heard that. I guess I feel good. I know something hurts, though. We’re just going to try to get to the bottom of it. I still can’t touch anything. I can’t put my hand down. Still very painful.”Kiffin said it’s possible Hall might sit out the Titans game Friday night. Don’t be surprised if Asomugha follows suit _ or plays a series or two before taking the rest of the night off.– Maybe it was a coincidence, but Asomugha found himself losing track of Drew Carter twice in coverage. The first came when he was sucked inside on a reverse roll by JaMarcus Russell, who overthrew a wide open Carter on the sideline for what would have been a big gain.Later it happened again _ and Russell obliged by again missing the open Carter.

Missed that... thanks.

Walker has no FF value?

Is Walker going to be able to play much this year? Honest question - haven't followed much his story since earlier n the offseason.

If he does, he won't be on any of my teams. Miller should be the leading receiver on this squad.

He'll be able to play... whether he beats out Drew Carter & Ron Curry remains to be seen. So far, I haven't heard anything promising about Walker. Like every year, D.Carter is tearing up training camp. I wonder if he actually has a good game this year. And, like always, Curry is just lurking there, getting no press or attention, but should emerge as the leading reciever... again.I like Miller, Curry and DMC and to a lesser extent Fargas. That's about it for the Raiders FFB value IMO. Carter as a last round flier (just in case he ever plays like he practices).

 Looking/finding the one or two wrs with legit potential is the tricky part. Titans wrs ADP = waiver wireRaiders wrs ADP is esentially off the board. Walker is living off name recognition. Curry is living off....Walkers publicly known ineffectiveness and being the best known raider wr not named Javon Walker.

Will add what I am paying attention to:

The interior of our D-line: Kelly, Sands, Warren. I actually like the RB matchup, I wanna see how we do versus a big guy, and a little fast guy. Kelly and Sands both looked OK vs. San Fran, especially Kelly. Am going to pay more attention to Warren this week.

The exterior of our O-line: We're gonna get a long look at Cornell and Mario with Kwame out, and really, who is our 4th tackle? Pretty sure it was Seth Wand last week. Also, whither Paul McQuistan? What are we doing with this guy? Fred Wakefield was at RT last week, and wound up doing OK from what I saw. But this guy has played TE, DL, and OT since arriving in Oaktown. Love the versatility, but geez, not sure I want him protecting anyone.

JaMarcus: Hey, there's a good chance we give this guy a top 5 rushing game this year. Strangely, the Raiders appear to be setting this guy up for some offensive success. No, our line isn't going to allow him to set up for 7 seconds. But the short passing game seems to be the ticket anyway. Can JRock protect the ball, avoid silly turnovers, and grind out a passing game?

Backup CB: 4th CB? Seems like Chris Johnson will get the job by default. John Bowie has become a unicorn, and Michale Waddell is a camp joke. Anyone have Duane Starks' phone number?

TE coverage: Vince Young throws to his TE, a lot. With Huff at FS, what's our plan, and will our TE coverage suffer? Still have to deal with Gonzo and Gates twice each.

Dmac could have a broken bone tonight when he meets Ford and Haynesworth and Tulloch.

I predict Dmac to look subpar. Welcome to the NFL rookie. I'd put money on this too.

JUST TO CLARIFY

i was not wishing ill will on him at all. But, he is about to meet his first REAL defense and let m etell you its a mean and nasty one. He is gonna get a nice welcome to the big leagues tonight.

Those 50 catches 700 yds, and 4 TD are much to brag about...no different than Roydell or Gage form last year.

Chris Johnson in on 3rd down does a nice job of picking up the blitz. That is so important when the face of the franchise is under center.

Did anyone else see Lendale's enormous gut as he was walking back to the sideline? WHOA. I knew he wasn't in the best shape, but he looked REALLY fat and out of shape.

I can not understand why there is so much blocking in the back on punts. It would seem that would be an easy thing to coach not to do.

WTF is Johnson criticizing Walker for on that pass? He turned with plenty of time to catch it, but needed a ladder.
