I disagree. Assuming we are talking about Tampa's 4 slot- If they moved down taking a chance on getting Quinn and all those players are off the board then they can pick up Thomas. Put him at Left Tackle and move Gallery to Right. If you do not like that pick.... not sure why...... then you could get Gaines Adams and put in that last real missing piece in their D. Then with their second round picks (plural) take Edwards and best players available from there.Iwannabeacowboybaby! said:If their guy is Russell then they wouldn't be getting their guy. Who's to say Detroit just isn't high on Quinn but if Russell was there at 2 they'd nab him in a second. Then what if Cleveland takes Quinn at 3 and now the Raiders are on the Clock..........C. Johnson is off the board, Russell is off the board and Quinn is off the board. No way the Raiders take that kind of chance when they can take anybody they want in their current position.
Detroit will not draft a QB at 1.Buc Dude said:Any chance OAK can trade down to #4 with TB and still get a QB + extra picks? Will Russell or Quinn be available at #4 if CJ picked #1? Why would OAK let Detroit grab the extra picks if they can still get their guy? Just wondering.
THAT is the key. It's the smart thing for them to do, but I'm not sure 1) that they're smart enough to do that (as opposed to being in love with CJ, Russell, or whoever is their "guy"), or 2) that anyone will want to give up what it takes to get to 1.01.
True enough, but they seem to be negotiating with several players (an obvious ploy to drive down the price) which is smart, but the question now is, Are they willing to pay #1 money to their "guy"? And if not, why not?If the Raiders want a QB, they want a specific guy.
You don't trade down, unless you are sure you can get your guy. NFL teams don't think, "Well we'll get one or the other...." NFL draft fans that haven't scouted these kids think that way.
The top 5 teams drafting all want one guy, their guy. Trading down and getting multiple picks means the Raiders aren't sold on CJ, Russell, or Quinn. Possible, but that would shock me.
The Raiders are not one of the richest teams, so there is sentiment that they'd rather not pay #1 money. Not being sold on either QB shouldnt be a shock to anyone. They might be sold on CJ but also might feel differently about Moss and Porter than the fans do.If the Raiders want a QB, they want a specific guy.

In that case, and this is just speculation, I would think we would have heard more about a possible trade down. We're not hearing much. That leads me to believe they have a guy in mind. Not being sold on either QB shouldnt be a shock to anyone. If Oakland trades down with Cleveland, not likely, they would be forfieting JaMarcus Russell for Brady Quinn. If Oakland trades down to four with Tampa Bay, still not likely but if they do, they will be forfieting Calvin Johnson and more than likely be picking up an extra second round pick and some extras. If they trade down with Tampa Bay then they would not sit at #4 and wait it out. They would turn right around and trade back into the #2 slot and pick up Russell and give up the extra second round pick by the Bucs and keep the extras. That way they get Russell and extras. The Bucs get Calvin Johnson, the Lions move down and get Gaines Adams or Joe Thomas and an extra pick. Pretty much everyone wins in that scenario. But anything that makes soo much sense rarely happens so more than likely they just pick Russell #1 and let Detroit get the rights to Calvin Johnson. Just my humble-O.Buc Dude said:Any chance OAK can trade down to #4 with TB and still get a QB + extra picks? Will Russell or Quinn be available at #4 if CJ picked #1? The trade down/trade back up scenario is my favorite, but alas, very unlikely. Would be soooo sweet tho.If Oakland trades down with Cleveland, not likely, they would be forfieting JaMarcus Russell for Brady Quinn.
