Raise your hand if you think SJax will be out for most of year? (1 Viewer)

RAM-BLINGS

Running back Steven Jackson (groin), who will miss his third game in a row Sunday, did some light running and conditioning Wednesday. ... Newly signed safety Bhawoh Jue is a native of Liberia. He was a year old when his parents fled the war-torn African nation. ... Eureka High's Farrell Shelton is the Rams' high school coach of the week. The Wildcats beat Pattonville 27-6 on Friday to improve to 6-0.

^^^ That's good to hear but IMHO, I hope they shut him down for this year. No reason to rush him back. No playoffs in sight so why risk it? Plus I need to put him on IR for next year cuz he's taking up a much needed roster spot right now. Dont get me wrong, if he's ready to go, and wants to play, by all means, let the man play, but I would look foward to next year.

I just took Marshawn and Fitzgerald for SJax and a 6th rounder next year.
good job. you got 2 quality players who can contribute for one who probably wont do anything. And it only cost you a 6th. I like it. I would probably have done that deal right now for Fitz alone with Warner throwing to him. Get Marshawn as well is bigtime for you.

Would the Rams play him this year for the fans and season ticket holders? Assuming he's healthy enough to play in a few weeks.

Absolutely I expect him to be out most of the year, I drafted him with a top 3 pick, like Alexander last year and Holmes the year before. Good times.

I haven't read the entire first page of this thread so maybe I missed something, but I think too many of us are underestimating the DESIRE of certain players to get on the field and perform. These guys train 12 months out of the year, rigorously getting ready for the toll that the season will put on them. You might think it makes "sense" to hold Jackson out for the rest of the year cuz the Rams suck but do you think he wants to sit out the entire season if he can get out there and play? This is his job and his passion, right? He gets paid to play and if he's healthy, he's gonna play. Bottom line. I do not own Jackson, either. My thoughts have nothing to do with fantasy football.

I think he's done for the year. The team isn't going to the playoffs, so why risk it?Fragile Fred had a groin tear a few years back and was never the same.
While I believe that SJax will probably be out until after the BYE, comparing his injury to Fred Taylor's is apples and oranges. If the reports are true, SJax has a 40% tear.Fred Taylor tore his groin completely off his pelvis. :D Vastly different, IMHO.

 While I am disappointed in the bust that Jackson has been so far I am looking forward to him getting back on the field. Part of me is okay with him sitting the first half of the season because it will mean he is fresh for the second half of the season. If the rest of my team can carry me into a situation where I still have a shot at the playoffs then Jackson could play an essential role in making that final thrust to the championship. With Linehan in the hotseat it will force him to do whatever he can to get some wins and save face in this competitive league. His best shot at getting some wins will be to force the ball to Jackson. Dynasty-wise, Jackson has been able to take it a little easier this year compared to last. I am thankful for this. His long-term situation is benefiting from his lack of playing time this season. If the Rams get a good spot in the draft, Jackson benefits. Since he is on the sideline while lil Brian Leonard gets his feet wet, his body isn't taking the same pounding that he took last year: so Jackson benefits.

On top of that, I acquired Brian Leonard in a different trade on the same day! I basically made my moves betting that SJax gets put on the shelf this year. Only draw back is it's a keeper league and I had to let him go.

Upgraded to "DOUBTFULL"!if you want to call that an upgrade. . . .at least its not an "OUT" already!
I think it's purely because they're facing their inter-division rival 'Hawks this week and it's the best smoke and mirrors job they've got. They're also suggesting Bulger will be ready to go.

Well, I'm 2-4 and hanging on to a slim thread of hope for the playoffs and need wins now, not week 10, so I had to move Jackson this week.

I just packaged him with Harrison and got Westbrook/Porter in return - Porter dropped immediately for Michael Bennett.

Leaves me with Westy/McGahee/Green/Bennett (not counting on much, honestly), Wayne/Braylon (bye week)/Santana Moss/Evans at the skill positions.

I honestly hope to see him come back and play decently. He's a good player, but there are enough question marks with the O-line and their season, not to mention his health and potential re-aggravation of the injury, that it made sense to move him.

Now I just have to hope Westbrook can stay healthy the rest of the year...or at least play 75% of the games.

As an ex-SJ owner (dealt him away week 5) I have to say that I'm surprised more people are not mentioning how dissapointing he was BEFORE the injury. I know Incognito is back, but the O-line is still competely decimated and I would think best case scenario is you'll see more like the first 3 weeks if and when SJ returns. A couple weeks of dissapointment, a week of 100+ maybe a td, then a couple weeks of mediocre again. That's why I dealt him and Stallworth for Lynch and Fitzgerald.

Some guy just traded Steve Smith & Norwood for Steven Jackson & Curry in my league :lmao: Horrible move IMO. Even if Jackson DOES come back by week 10 he will not be as good as he was last year. This aint the same Rams.

What has Steve Smith done? Norwood? I dont' think he gave up anything, really. Curry isn't that much of a downgrade from Smith (maybe 1 tier), and Norwood is worthless.

 Did you miss last week? He even has 40 and a TD the week before.

He gave up a 1-tier downgrade from Smith-Curry, and it could be a massive upgrade from Norwood to Jackson if he comes back at all. I own Smith, and he isn't exactly setting the world on fire (hardly what he is supposed to do). He isn't doing what I expect.

Sorry to hijack this thread.

what's the word on SJax as of today (Oct 18)? Someone in my league dumped Brian Leonard and i need a bye week RB. An word on whether Leonard is going to start, split time w/ SJax or is SJax back in his starting role? thanks!

Linehan is quoted as saying that Sjax has an "outside" shot at playing this week... which seems to indicate that Leonard should get at least 1 more start, or at worse a split of carries

Why bring Bulger back with cracked ribs to start with a lousy record? They got a fan base in STL to think about. They got pride. They got SJAX wobbling around with a red jersey on (rotowire.com) which is a whole lot better than last week's practice. They got last year's Rutgers #2 RB as their #1 RB. They got no respect on offense or defense right now. Morale at an all time low, some Rams are free agents after this season and SJAX is wanting to play. Plus, they got a bye week coming up. You got to wonder why they wouldn't bring him back- even if for a role like Barber has in Dallas. You got to, at least, get his mind back on the game before the long offseason approaches... I fully expect to see him back after the bye.

October 18, 2007, 12:23Rams :: RBRB Jackson Very LimitedJim Thomas, St. Louis Post Dispatch - [Full Article]Rams RB Stephen Jackson donned a no-contact red jersey Wednesday during practice, when he took part in individual drills only. He is still at least a week away from playing. "The kind of cuts he makes, how sudden and quick he is - you have to be smart with it," said Linehan, who all but said Jackson won't play this week against Seattle. Oct. 28 against Cleveland or Nov. 11 at New Orleans (after the team's bye week) is a more realistic target date.

Injury Rams RB Jackson Returns To Practice -- Thu Oct 18 3:35 am --

Took Part In Individual Drills

Realistically, Steven Jackson is at least a week away from returning to the Rams' lineup. But the Pro Bowl running back took his first steps back to the playing field Wednesday in practice. Wearing the red "no-contact" jersey, Jackson took part in some individual drills — running, cutting and catching passes. It was far from a full practice, but the mere sight of No. 39 was a boost for his teammates. "You could tell that it was his first day back," tight end Randy McMichael said. "He didn't want to really try to push too much, aggravate it or something. But it was good to see him out there. You know, see him smiling and laughing, and seeing those 'dreads' flop at you on the run." (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

FF Today's Take: It is looking like Jackson's chances of playing in Week 8 are improving.
