Rams @ Vikings - Preseason Game Thread (1 Viewer)

this just confirms what I already knew. Avoid Vickings in fantasy drafts. Dynasty maybe for the future. But it's gonna take a while for that offense to rebound like the old days.
Not sure about this...
You aren't sure about this offense being eons away from the old days? Seems obvious enough to me. If they score 14 PPG, I'll be shocked.
No, I'm not sure about having to avoid all the Vikings' offense in fantasy drafts. Like I said in my ENTIRE post, a few may be borderline contributors to your fantasy team, which is a lot better than I thought going into tonight.

They played against a poor defensive team and could only muster 3 offensive points. How does that change anyone's mind about that team?

I'm guessing you were not watching the game. The Vikings first team offense moved the ball well, had nice tempo, and controlled much of the clock. The offense looked pretty decent regardless of the number of points put up. It was a positive sign.

And don't forget to avoid all Rams' first team offensive players since they failed to score on a poor Vikings' pass defense!!

Yet still stalled out against a bad defensive team playing vanilla schemes.

Ummm...nice attempt...poor execution. That Ram's first team has shown they are a good offensive unit...the Vikings have not quite shown that.

I was at the game and just wanted to share a few observations...

First of all, Peterson did not get big yardage, but keep in mind that Steve Hutchinson was inactive. That will probably matter.

Tyler Thigpen has a gun! He had zip on the ball and the long pass interference play was a well thrown ball. Thigpen's play made Bollinger look noodle-armed.

While Williamson was heavily targeted, B. Wade looks like the Viking's best WR. Seems to know how to get open. Not saying that he has fantasy value, just that he looked like the best WR on the team.

Mewelde Moore should not be returning punts. Every time he would try to dance and go nowhere...

Leonard's TD run was a thing of beauty from an O-Line standpoint. The Guard pulled into the hole and had to run to the goal-line to find someone to block.

Any chance they pull Jackson in the regular season at the goal line for Leonard?
If you draft Jackson in FF, Leonard is a must have in later rounds. The kid looks like the real deal. I sure the Rams will give Leonard some playing time to spell Jackson, and he looks like he knows how to take advantage of playing time.

Physically, Bryan Leanard looks like an average average NFL fullback.
most overhyped player on these boards...he's the next John Riggins.
I don't think he's overhyped. He's a solid all around football player that can run, catch, block, and move the pile. He's a must for SJax owners. Not that he'd put up those types of numbers, but he'd certainly have no trouble getting the TDs along with nice combined yardage.

Come on, it was the 1st pre-season game and you already have Jackson being pulled at the goal line for a rookie running against Minn's 2nd D in the 1st preseason game? Those holes Leonard was running through, they will be there for Jackson as well. Why would St. Louis pull Jackson ( a beast, who rarely fumbles) for a rookie RB??Please don't over think this too much. It was the 1st preseason game.

People thought Jackson would be pulled for Stephen Davis last year also. It's not gonna happen people, that would be like the chargers pulling LT for Tuner at the goal line.

As NOOOO, it wasn't a vanilla defense....the Rams blitzed often, expecting the Vikings to run, run, run. I watched, (so far) the first half and I was impressed with Action Jackson's play. The Vikings' OL showed us that they can pass protect better than they can run block. Yes Hutch didn't play but still.... I was impressed with Peterson and McCauley. Minny's D has showed us that they need to go after Simeon Rice today, otherwise they'll be playing a lot of schemes with blitz packages heavily involved.
