@NFL
Zach Charbonnet caps off a 10-play, 81-yard drive for Seattle 🙌

Watch on @NFLNetwork
Stream on @NFLPlus
Seahawks OL opening some holes. Guy behind Charbonnet is at 3-42.

ETA: Damien Martinez (who I like more than guys who went 3 rounds higher than him) breaks off a 20 yarder on his 1st carry.
I think this situation is rather interesting, given Martinez had some buzz from draftniks (Waldman liked him too), but Waldman also liked Holani last year, and Holani has consistently run ahead of Martinez.

Ken Walker is a tank, but something's up with that foot/ankle, and does that linger into the season or cost him carries? I'm not convinced Charbonnet is more than a JAG ... maybe Holani or Martinez can be something this year. I'm intrigued by whichever one wins that role.

IMO, Ollie Gordon is the handcuff for Achane, even though Wright started. Wright had 1 good game versus NE when Achane was out in 2024. He has speed, but not vision per the local beat writers.

Ewers looks better to me than Wilson. He throws with timing. Accurate too, don't look at the stats - already 2 drops. Nice TD throw to Theo Wease on a skinny post. Wilson had decent stats today, but his accuracy is an issue and he takes too long to make decisions.

Miami's DLine and LBs are a strength. K Grant and 5th rounder Jordan Phillips have been great. But the CB room is the worst in the league, losing another CB possibly for weeks. Storm Duck is our best outside CB.
Storm Duck sounds like a villain from the old cartoon Darkwing Duck.

Gordon is an oddball case to me. He does not possess great acceleration but has some build up speed. Seems to have a good feel for defenders, contact balance, vision and hands. Watching his highlights almost reminds me in the backyard with my dad dominating kids based on his size but also knowing he probably is not the best athlete in the neighborhood. If he can become more consistent and has the work ethic to improve he has some upside for sure.

3 down back potential if Achane went down. If they wanna protect 190 pound Achane, they should use a bigger back in short yardage runs where Achane has struggled, only 5 of 13 when needing a yard. Much of that is on the oline. LG Jonah Savaiinaea, drafted in the 2nd round, has struggled.

Quinton Johnston took a vicious shot to the chin. Unconscious "fencing posture" before he hit the ground. Moved his legs and tried to unbuckle his chin strap. Strapped to the back board and taken off on a cart

Blake Corum and the 2s looking very good against almost the entire starting Charger D (sans Khalil and Derwin).

Corum is the clear backup to Kyren and looks like he could steal a bit of his workload.

Good grief. Are you watching the game? I can only see the play by play in espn. I see Gilman was injured too. Any insight?

And now it says Lambert Smith was injured. Stupid preseason. I hope they’ve pulled all the starters now.

Sorry, didn't see it. If they update while I'm watching, I'll post.

Heinicke put way too much air on a ball in a crowd over the middle. He either hates Lambert Smith or just isn't very good.

He looked shaken up but was able to leave the field on his own.

Name a team in the past 20 years with both a carry by a Harvard RB and throw by a Harvard QB, preseason or regular season. In any game.
Gotta be one of the 9 teams Ryan Fitzpatrick played for.
Aaron Shampklin had 2 carries today for Miami, the first one for 26 yards. Fitzpatrick is remembered by some in Miami for playing better than expected in a tank season, leading to Tua instead of Burrow.

I haven't seen or read anything about an injury to KLS.

any updates ?

Quentin Johnston update

Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game that Johnston was diagnosed with a concussion and taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The injury initially appeared to be quite serious, as Johnston remained down on the field for several minutes as trainers attended to him and began preparing a stretcher for him. Johnston was eventually able to sit up, but was visibly frustrated as he was carted off the field.

Lions UDFA WR Jackson Meeks (Syracuse, UGA) is putting together a monster preseason:

• 11 receptions (12 targets) for 176 yards (1st – NFL) and 2 TDs
• 16.0 YPR (2nd among WRs w/ 6+ catches)
• 9 receiving 1st Downs (1st)
• 61 YAC (2nd)
• 88.0 PFF Grade (4th among WRs)
• 90.7 Week 2 PFF Grade (5th)

3rd round pick Isaac TeSlaa is the rookie that has everyone’s attention. But Meeks (6’2” 218) and 7th round pick Dominic Lovett (UGA, ace on STs) have been stacking a lot of good days. Lions may keep 7 WRs on the initial 53-man roster.

Bears Bills kicks off in less than an hour. On Fox. I don't have Fox. I'm not going to get Fox.

Anyone know how to stream this? DMs ok too.
If you ever want it you could just get a digital antenna and get all those main channels like Fox and NBC. Doesn’t help now but for the future.

Full second team defense (aside from maybe FS Cole Bishop) for the Bills. Not sure we can glean much from this one.
Caleb ripping throws on time. He did not do this last year.
Crazy what happens when talent gets proper coaching/guidance.

Still way too early to tell, but yea, he looked really sharp on that drive. Gonna see a lot of 2 TE sets this year seemingly.

Sounds like Johnson holds him accountable. Could be that simple. The off script stuff is great when it’s necessary.

To win you have to play on time most of the time.

For sure. He’s going to have plenty of time to improvise, but that should always be his last resort.

Ben Johnson has nice control over this team. Great to see.

Easy to do against second team defenses playing vanilla schemes. Good showing but it doesn’t mean much.

It means the Bears did what they should do in that situation. That's a good thing.

I think it’s not a bad thing is the more correct assessment.

It helps to have an actual script in the first place. Last year's Bears offensive coaching staff were in over their heads.

I appreciate Johnson's approach of actively trying to overwhelm his QBs. It's a real sink-or-swim approach that hopefully leads to the game slowing down for them.
