Rams WR thread (1 Viewer)

so Danario made the team? hmm...
Of course he did. Highest upside of them all, if only he can stay healthy. The guys to have here are Alexander and Gibson.
Oh, I'm very high on him . I think he's a very intriguing option. He never played with Bradford in the preseason in the games though which was odd.
Both Alexander and Salas made the team despite not being 100% and not showing a lot in training camp (in terms of volume). It tells me that they have the staff intrigued with their potential. The Gilyard cut wasn't surprising though he seemed to have made some progress this preseason. The Avery cut is a bit more surprising with Alexander showing how fragile he is and Pettis kinda undewhelming.

Rams waived WR Donnie Avery.

Despite his extensive injury history, Avery's release comes as somewhat of a surprise after a strong preseason. Similarly injury prone wideout Danario Alexander has made the Rams' final roster. Also waived or released by the Rams were DT John Henderson, G/T Ryan McKee, G/T Kevin Hughes and DT Daniel Muir. Sep 3 - 7:22 PM

Pretty sure it's a contract numbers game.

MSW = injury prone and 1 year contract.

Clayton = injury prone and 1 year contract/PUP.

Avery = injury prone + 1 year contract/cut.

Alexander = injury prone and signed long term. They probably didn't want to negotiate that many iffy contracts at the end of the year. Too many "try before you buy" WRs already on staff.

They have their steady WRs in Gibson/Amendola. They need a homerun threat to take the job.

How did they not throw some cash at Braylon or Floyd? Braylon got nothing and the situation in S.F. is nothing close to St. Louis.
Because the Rams looked at Braylon and probably thought 'no thanks'.
Not exactly the best teammate but not R. Moss either. He'd immediately be their #1. You are a weak head coach if you can't make this work. Where you should earn your money.
I think it's time you go and apply for an NFL HC position. It's so easy a caveman could do it. :D
I think it's time you realize it's an extremely difficult job to attain but most are not geniuses or even that special. Haley and Singletary? Many of these guys aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
Don't underestimate the intelligence involved in coming up with the idea of mooning your team as a means to motivate them.

You're right, Braylon Edwards is not Randy Moss. Not even close.

Still not sure why folks are writing Gibson off. He has as much value as MSW at this point. Things will clear up as the season progresses. Amendola is the only WR I would actually start week 1.

For their respective prices, the only Rams WR I feel comfortable picking is Gibson. Apart from being dirt-cheap, he's had a great camp, and Bradford is more comfortable throwing to him than any of their WRs not named Amendola. Perfect late-round addition.

With Danario I love the talent, but is there any reason to think he can hold up for a season? I'm all for taking a late shot on a guy with huge upside but I wonder if it's just going to be a wasted pick with zero chance of success because his knee just isn't NFL ready and never will be.

I would have been far less shocked over the Rams putting Danario on IR or PUP, letting him heal/rehab as much as possible, and stashing him for 6 weeks or the year than I was over Avery getting waived. That to me was a bit of a stunner. I think what this tells us is Danario essentially has a 6 week tryout coming up. If he performs well and stays "healthy" by his standards, the Rams will have to make a different move to activate Clayton. If he does not perform well, the Rams will either IR him at that point or likely release him.
