Larger women more apt to have sex on date

LONDON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A survey of 10,000 members of a British Web site indicates larger women and tall (and skinny) women are more likely to have sex on the first date.

FreeDating.co.uk's survey also indicates the larger a woman is, the more open she may be to having sex on the first date, although there was no similar effect in larger men, but athletic men are most likely to be open to sex on a first date.

Web site officials say they actively discourage people who are looking to cheat on their partner from using FreeDating.co.uk, but they recognize that any dating site will have some married people so they say they ask that they classify themselves as "married."

Although, it's hard to know how many are really married, the survey indicates that men on the Web site who say they are married are most likely to have sex on the first date.

Attributes in women that predict sex on the first date are: medium drinker, interest in cars and spends time in bars, while the attributes in women that don't predict sex on the first date are being a teetotaler and having an interest in bicycling.

Attributes in men that predict sex on the first date are being a medium drinker and smoking, while those not apt to have sex on the first date don't drink, don't smoke and have an interest in cycling.

In women, declining education levels lead to increased willingness to have first-date sex, while in men, the better educated were more willing to have sex on the first date, the survey says.

Makes sense to me. I'm a cyclist, and I'm damn easy on most (ok all) first dates. Workhorse: Soo sorry to hear bud. Get an MRI. I wish I'd have done it 6 months sooner than I did.

ShoN: Great job on the repeats!!

My update:

I hit a minor milestone this morning. I completed my old 16.2 mile ride for the first time since last November. That route (which used to be my favorite) was always my minimum distance ride I would do. I've finally hit rock bottom, and am ready to get past it :D . I used to love the ride as it has some excellent twisties, and a bit of elevation. Unfortunately all but the first/last three miles are now chip seal = it beat me up a bit. I was able to complete it at 19.8 MPH, but was hoping for better, but I'll just use the road as an excuse.

Highlight of the ride was the start. I had my girls at the bus stop, and planned on riding right after the but got there. The bus pulled up, and 2 cyclists went by the bus stop (a pavilion across the street from my house). There is a .6 mile loop that they had to take to get back out of our neighborhood = they'd be going right by my house in less than 2 minutes. I kissed the girls as they got on the bus, and got my shoes on as fast as I could, to try to catch the two riders who were approx. .2 miles ahead of me as I left my driveway. I chased them down just after my 1 mile marker going right at 24 mph. As I went by it was two guys likely in their mid 50's, going maybe 20 mph. I was happy to say "morning" as I went by. Less than .1 miles ahead, they had caught my wheel. Frick'n wheelsuckers! I was holding a steady 22.0 when they caught me, and upped it to 23.0. My heart rate was flying, but I was determined to drop them. It took my almost a full mile, but I did :boxing: Thank goodness I lost them, bc I hit the chip seal soon after after would have burned too many matches had they held on longer.

Man I have six days of posts to catch up on.

I was supposed to do 12 on Sun, did 12.7 due to not being careful mapping my run.

5k yesterday, got down to 26:06

5k today.

Playing a round of golf on Sat then my 10k race on Sun. Just over 5 weeks until the half.

PSL - great to hear about your progress.

Grue - damn nice run last week!

Sho Nuffield - looks like you had one too. Thank god for porta potties

Darrin - congrats on the weight loss, sounds like you are doing great

Ivan - congrats on the PR!

Scooby - I am having the same pacing problems once I get above 9 miles, in my case I think it is fatigue setting in. I can definitely feel the mental fatigue above 10 miles (in my three runs to date)

Workhorse - sorry to hear, keep your spirits up.

gruecd - when does your Boston qualifying window open up? Are you in that nerve wracking 'open' time slot based on your Chicago time from last fall?

gruecd - when does your Boston qualifying window open up? Are you in that nerve wracking 'open' time slot based on your Chicago time from last fall?
My window opens tomorrow morning at 9:00 CDT. I turn 35 in January, so I needed a 3:15 for next April, and my 3:09:55 in the heat at Chicago last year gives me a BQ-5:05.Early indications are that only about 10,000 people will be registered by the end of the BQ-10 window, so the BQ-5 people should definitely be safe, and probably a good chunk of the "open" window, too. If I had to guess, I'd say the cut-off will be somewhere in the BQ-1 to BQ-2 range. With tighter standards in 2013, I think there's a good chance that it won't even fill up.

Personally I think it will be closer to BQ -5 as the numbers get greater and greater as you get closer to the line. My wild ### guess - I'd say BQ-4. I have seen a lot of guessing going on out there - pretty interesting stuff. :nerd: Good deal you got yourself into the second to last bucket, though.

Tempo run today - 1 warm-up, 4 at mid-tempo (I'm using 8:00 as a target pace for now), 1 cooldown. Managed 24:02 for the first 3 and a 7:44 for the last, coming in at 7:57s. Really didn't think I was going to be able to hold that pace for the whole four, despite the 40 degree temp.

That's good work. This cooler weather makes a WORLD of difference. Seriously, if it's like this for Lakefront, I like my chances for sub-3 a whole lot better....

Oh, talked to a buddy of mine who's also running Houston in January. As you'll recall, the Olympic marathon trials are on Saturday, and our race is on Sunday. Anyway....a buddy of mine is also running, and he and Kara Goucher happen to have a close mutual friend, so guess who I'm gonna get to hang out with on Saturday night! :excited:

I'm not having a particularly good week. I bailed after 4 miles on the treadmill last night, even though I could have kept going. Just a failure of energy more than anything.

Those temps are blowing in here as we speak. Supposed to be low of 49 tonight. :excited:

Just back from a 5-miler in blistering 55 degree heat, if this makes you feel better.

:finger: to all of you guys.Went for an easy 3 and finished in 29:51. No issues and my legs have stopped aching completely since I switched back to my old shoes. I went out at 6:50 and it was still 89 with 43%, at least the sun wasn't beating down on me.

Just letting my friends in here know I took a job in Costa Rica and will be moving over the next few months.

I will be retiring from the interwebs indefinitely and wanted to thank everyone for help with getting this 320 pound fat ### under 200 and running 20 miles per week. Much love.

(This is Reginald Cornsilks BTW)

I will email you Darrin - best regards.

I just got this, is it you?

I am sending this letter to you and somebody else in California, on my recent visit to the US, your contacts were retrieved from an online data base. This is a chance I am taking because I have always believed in luck and supreme guidance from God whom I serve, so excuse my intrusion.I am Kayah Fawaz a lawyer and an aide to Rashid Mohammed Rashid, former Egypt’s Trade and Industry Minister (Secretary) who was a member of the Mubarak’s Cabinet until two week before Mubarak himself was ousted from office, Rashid was barred from leaving Egypt due to suspected misappropriation of public funds.I am in possession of Eight Million USD ($8,000,000:=), an oil deal ’cut’ from a British Offshore Servicing Firm paid in the heat of the Cairo conflict. It is available in the form of cash lodged in the vault of a London Security Company under the impression of “Personal Valuables”.Due to our social status coupled with the obvious origin of the fund, we have certain limitations as regard investing in the United Kingdom, I wish to ask for your assistance in receiving the funds. I guarantee 20% of the sum for your assistance and I count on you to keep this just between us. Should you indicate your willingness, upon my choice of whom I feel comfortable with, I will instruct a lawyer to transfer the Deeds Of Ownership to you. Measures have been taken to ensure protection against theft and seizure, it is already tagged Personal Valuables on paperwork and would be couriered through a cargo firm with diplomatic privileges. It is hitch free and you have nothing to worry about.Should you not feel comfortable with this, disregard and discard please.I count on your honour to keep this low key for now.
:)Just kidding.

Well the weather here is really messing with me. We have had consistent monsoons the last few days. These come with 60 MPH winds, lightning, hail, lots of rain. Yesterday they reported ping pong ball size hail.

I missed my 8 yesterday and I doubt I get to do it today because of storms. I will be able to run tomorrow and Saturday am. These storms are almost always in the afternoon.

Question- I am scheduled to do 12 on Sat. If I was to stick to the plan, tomorrow would be 5 easy miles. Should I do the 5 tomorrow or do the 8 I missed and skip the easy run?

Grue and Darrin- Thanks for sharing the fails/troubles. In some odd way I feel better knowing that Grue struggles at times as well. Darrin if I saw that when it happened I would have been pretty worried and rushed to help but since it was so long ago and I know you are fine I have to :lmao:

Meh - just do the 5. You're doing some squats and lunges on the days you're stuck inside, right?----Reginald - serious? Well, then, godspeed!

After dinner it had cleared up nicely so I got my eight in. It was a little dark for the final 1.5 miles but I got it done. It felt good.

I meant to share this before but totally forgot about it until Grampa Lunge reminded me just now: My kids, who are 6 and almost 5, have been taking little kid TaeKwonDo since they were each 2 1/2. My oldest graduated to the big kid class at the end of the summer, and because he's been going there so long they let my little one graduate, too, which meant moving to a monthly child support payment to the school going forward. The good news is that it's essentially a family rate, so I can take classes too at no additional cost. Think Cosmo Kramer and you're on the right track... Anyway, on Tuesday the instructor had us do about 70 squat/lunge things and I'm still beyond sore. Not sure he'd appreciate the :finger: the same way Tri-man does.

Im going to call this into question...

The first part I bolded...about men.

There should be no statistic on which men are more open to sex on a first date.

Aren't we all just open to it no matter what our background?

Now, that all depends on the chick of course...if its blind date and you need a :bag: , but still, they make liquor for such instances.

Oh, and lol at the part about married guys being more open to it on the first date.

I did my 5 mile recovery run this AM. I got home and saw on my schedule it was supposed to be 4 miles, oh well.

* These recovery runs are very difficult for me. I have a very hard time keeping my HR between 133-144. I do it but I am usually pissed off about it at some point during the run.

Anyway, on Tuesday the instructor had us do about 70 squat/lunge things and I'm still beyond sore. Not sure he'd appreciate the :finger: the same way Tri-man does.
 --prosopis - just let yourself enjoy those recovery runs. Appreciate the easy breathing; take note of the surroundings; recall/plan a race. If you want, pop the last quarter mile hard to get the HR up for a bit and to feel better about the run.

:hey: I live close to Houston  Reginald: Best wishes to you! Try to stay in contact if you can. You've been a great inspiration on here. Keep it up. I'll find a way to get a HTFU to you if you don't. Wraith: LMBO! Grampa Lunge has to be proud. To all discussing your weather :finger: We are finally below 100 down here today. My update: Legs feel great. Probably better than they have in 10 months :knocksonwood: Taking today off and plan on getting an early'ish morning hard ride in tomorrow. How early and how hard will depend on how much :banned: and hopefully :pickle: happens tonight.

PSL -- Nice ride. It's funny to read how competitive some of you guys are.

Reginald -- Good luck with the move and job. Costa Rica? What an adventure.

wraith -- Tempo runs are so much more fun this time of year than when it's in the 80s and 90s.

prosopis -- A missed run or two isn't that big a deal provided that it's not one of your long runs. Otherwise, just forget about it and do whatever your schedule calls for that day -- don't worry about trying to "make it up." Missing a long run is more problematic. In that case, it might be a good idea to shift your schedule around to work it back in.

A few things I remembered today:

1) 41 degrees is really pushing it for shorts and a t-shirt.

2) 41 degrees coupled with 15-20 mph winds really calls for long sleeves. Gloves wouldn't have been a bad idea either.

3) It's time to start stashing some extra gear in my locker on campus so it's there if I need it.

Anyway, I got my 10 miles done and I seem to have full range of motion in my fingers again, so it's all good.

I was supposed to have a SRD today with a 6mi recovery run tomorrow, but I swapped it around. Tomorrow is opening day of archery (deer) season and I don't want to worry about getting a run in while I'm hunting on opening day.

65 + 51% humidity = heaven. It was nice to run a mile before sweating. A nice little cruise around the neighborhoods without drowning in my own sweat. 142 @ 9:37 and it was effortless.

I'm actually not a huge fan of 40-50 degrees, because for me it's sort of an in-between temp. I have a hard time remaining comfortable for the whole run regardless of how I dress. Still a hell of a lot better than 80+ though!!

Some good news from the doc -- Xray and MRI were clean. I've got some severe tendonitis that's causing inflammation and pain from my hip to my groin. He's reluctant to give me a cortisone shot since he's worried about weakening the tendon. Doc proscribed some topical NSAID (Voltaren Gel) that I can apply 4 times a day and I can take advil when I wake up in the morning so long as its at least 8 hours before running. My doc is a runner too so he's being pretty conserative with the treatment and essentially told me that he doesn't think that I'm doing any damage by continuing training once the pain fades.

In other words: HTFU.

:lmao:

Glad it's nothing worse than that!

I went out for 6 this morning for an easy run and I wore full geek runner night gear. Headlamp, reflective vest, rear flashing red light, as well as my regular running gear and clothes. It was not a great run, though the night gear wore easy and I barely felt it.

This morning was hotter than it had been all week, 5:30 am and it was 77 with 83% humidity. At 2.5 miles I felt great so I decided to go for the 6 instead of turning at 5, somewhere during that next mile the humidity broke 90%. At 3.5 I was trashed, soaked through and breathing too hard, so I started walking, again.

Last week I walked all the way home from 3 miles, today I didn't want to walk home. I walked a bit, caught my breath and started back up jogging lightly. At 4 miles I decided to try and do 1/4 mile repeats, turned out to be a good choice. Run hard 1/4 mile, walk 1/4 mile, doing that I finished the run at an average of 11:46m/m.

I know I can run farther and faster in saner temps. Just 4 weeks ago, on the treadmill, in 70 degree conditioned air, I was able to get in 9 miles at 10:20 m/m.

Makin' Tracks 5K Race Report:

20:42 (6:39/mile). 5th, 50-59 age group. 15th overall.

Great conditions - about 55 degrees, and a perfectly flat course through the neighborhood near my house. I didn't really feel "on" today, but ran a solid, rather steady race. A good friend of mine from church was running it also. He's a few years younger than me, and a bit faster (he regularly runs Boston). He sprinted out of the gates while I started more steadily, though still fast. I was close to catching him with a half-mile to go, but he passed friends that live along the route and noticeably picked up his pace ..and ended up beating me by ten seconds. Nobody was around me over the final two miles, so it was just me trailing my friend and fighting the mental demons of 'he's a faster runner than me.' I was preparing to battle him down the stretch until he surged. Crazy that 5 of the top 15 were 50+ (the other four were all 50-54). Too many fast old farts out there!

A goal coming in was to get my pace under 6:40, and I did that. With one more 5K in a month, I'd like to get down to 20:35, which was my fall time ten years ago.

mile 1: 6:35/mi, 164 HR

mile 2: 6:47/mi, 175 HR

mile 3: 6:39/mi, 179 HR

.1 mile: 6:11/mi, 182 HR

avg HR was 173.

Darrin-Glad you finished. I know the weather sucks. it is still in the 90s here and now we have humidity. Our time is right around the corner though so hang in there.

Tri-man- That is freaking fast  congrats.

I went out for 12 miles today. I got a little later start then I wanted but I got out by 5:30 am. I had a lot of trouble with my HR monitor. I know it was not right the first 1-2 miles. I am starting to think it is that particular shirt I wear causing problems. I got that settled down and was doing well. It was cooler. Maybe low 80s when I started. I live around a lot of cotton fields and the cotton is just starting to pop. If you have ever been in cotton fields you know how cool they can be when it is really popping. I went out 6.25 miles and turned around to head back. As I turned around a car a bout .5 miles ahead of me loses it in a curve. Maybe fell asleep and tried to over correct? They rolled and went through a chain link fence of a yard full of farm equipment. Kind of freaked me out as I was thinking I just ran there and if I had been there I would not be typing this now. Person driving appeared fine and police/fire guys got there quick for this area. I then ran home and the HR monitor was acting up. I am confident my HR never hit 255.

I have the Garmin 305 and I wonder if I need to replace the HR monitor strap? It is very loose and I was having a hard time keeping it around my chest. I guess I should be happy that my beer belly is melting away and is no longer holding it in place. Is there a battery in that strap that needs replacing? I gotta look into it. I was also using my fuel belt today. I am getting used to it but it does seem strange to run with the belt.

Tri-man - Great race and great, consistent pace.

PSL - Really enjoyed your biking story. Excellent job dropping those guys from your wheel.

Grue - Thanks for your post earlier indicating that even the mighty Grue has trouble at times. Knowing that it isn't always easy for someone at your level makes it easier to persevere when things feel rough during a run.

Workhorse - Sucks about your injury, but I'm glad to hear that the X-ray and MRI were clean.

Darrin - Good job sticking with it through the humidity.

-----------------

After putting in a solid week of training and working on increasing my distance to get ready for the BC, I'm taking the day off so that I'm all set for my last triathlon of the year tomorrow. Dexter beat me by 43 seconds at our last one, so I'm going to let it all hang out and end the season on a high note.

Question for you guys: Do you ever run by feel or just do what seems to be fun, or do you pretty much always run based on a plan?

On my Thursday run, the weather was an excellent 55 degrees, so I felt like running fast (for me) instead of the 6 mile run that I had planned. I thought it would be more fun, so that is what I did.

Mile 1: Warmup half (8:00/mi) + working half (7:30/mi)

1 minute walking rest

Mile 2: Pushed myself for a 6:50/mi pace

2 minute walking rest

Mile 3: Ran hard, but was a bit tired from the first two miles, so I managed 7:25

3 minute walking rest

Mile 4: Ran hard, but again was tired. 7:27 pace.

1/2 mile really slow jog (13:57/mi)

Final 1/2 mile sprint: Put everything I had left into it, 6:24 pace.

It was fun to run quickly for a change, but I was wondering if it is recommended to do things like that and whether you guys, who have been running a lot longer than I have, do the same thing from time to time.

A variety is good, and it's good not to be a slave to a plan ...it keeps us fresh. Even when on a plan, no more than two workouts a week should be breakthrough sessions, so really, we have flexibility on the other workouts. So yeah, mix it up! In the pool, try to dolphin kick a length under water, breathe the other side, or ladder some speedwork up and down. Take the bike out to a new trail or area and let yourself get a little lost (or have someone drop you off and ride back home). Run on a track or up/down some hills, or again, drive someplace different. Some of my very best memories are from runs that I do while traveling just because they're new, different, and unpredictable.

Slacking this week agreed with me (or perhaps 60 degree temps did). 12 miles at 8:30/mile. Pace was like a metronome. Also nice to turn into Virginia and learn a new route.

Darrin-Glad you finished. I know the weather sucks. it is still in the 90s here and now we have humidity. Our time is right around the corner though so hang in there.Tri-man- That is freaking fast  congrats.I went out for 12 miles today. I echo the Darrin and Tri-man comments. As far as the car goes that is my worst fear. I always watch those guys to make sure they hold a turn. Not sure what the hell I'd so if they lost it, but I still watch. On the HR strap definitely snug it up and see if it is working. Garmin HR straps are on their third revision and only the third one has fixed the "impossibly high HR" issue. So your strap may be doing it, too.

As much as I enjoy making sport of Tri-man and his lunges, I am going to start doing them again. I have time right before bed.

Both of my calves tightened up during the run this morning and I want to help that.

Can I buy a third revision for a 305 or do I need to buy a new Garmin watch?

Before you give up on the current strap, try a few things. First, don't you work in some kind of medical related field (might be thinking of someone else)? If so, grab some of that gel they use on the EKG pads. If you can't get this, just put some heavy spit on the sensor pads. It sounds (and is) disgusting, but I lick mine and slop them up before putting it on to get good contact. You might also want to Google up how to wear the strap correctly. With all the issues you've had, you may just be placing it a bit wrong.
