Great two-day sequence to close out my abbreviated marathon training. Both runs on the track to play it safe:
Yesterday: 10 miles with 8 mi. hard tempo @ 7:27/mi, HR-166. It was a tough effort, but I felt in control throughout. HR in the 170s late, but it was good to acclimate to that.
Today: 22 miles @ 8:31, HR-146. Legs felt OK, but I'm sure they were still recovering from the tempo run. Total run time was over 3 hours, which is what I like ..to minimize the time gap between my long training runs and the actual race time.
On to a two-week taper ...and then to see what I can do on 6 weeks of concentrated, quality training and less than 300 miles.
