Randel El (1 Viewer)

I'm trying to decide between Galloway and Randle El. With Moss out Randle El could put up decent numbers. What worries me though is that we heard the same thing when Washington played the Giants and that didn't turn out so hot.

Torn between Evans and Randle El. I picked up El to start, but Im thinking Evans in prime time will get a long TD in blow out time.

El with alot of targets, Vs. Evans, the long TD. Pick your luck. Both 1 ppr and mad bonus scoring starting at 50yds + for me.

MY guess? Flip a coin, its that close.

I don't know about Evans but ARE is more than capable of hooking up with Campbell for a long TD. They did it a number of times last year when Moss was out.

Not doubting you, but ARE only caught 2 TDs from Cambell last season. Was Moss out on both of them?

Last I checked, Moss was running at "Full Speed" at Fridays practice on the side and was verrrrry optimistic about playing this week...

Where did you see this?

*** Saturday Update *** WR Santana Moss (WAS) There was a bounce in Santana Moss' step yesterday. "I feel great," the Washington Redskins' No. 1 receiver said yesterday after he missed practice again but ran routes for the first time since he strained a groin on Sept. 23 against the New York Giants. "I ran pretty good. That's all I wanted. I did what I had to do today. I ran some routes [without coverage]. That's a different kind of route [than if] someone's pulling on you. But the speed I ran it at and putting your foot in the ground and planting, everything was great." HC Joe Gibbs was not nearly as optimistic, terming Moss doubtful and reiterating twice that he hadn't practiced. "It might be a situation where he warms up before the game [and plays] and it might not," Gibbs said.

I think Washington runs the ball and both Portis and Betts have decent numbers. I think they're going to attempt to keep Detroit's offense on the sidelines and play smashmouth football, occasionally using the play action pass to larger chunks when they present themself.

Washington doesn't want a gunslinging match.

For the most part I agree. That's gotta be the gameplan for Washington. But even if they tilt the scale 65/35 toward rushing attempts, Randel El has a good chance to post excellent numbers. In the PHL game, it wasn't that Curtis burned the Det secondary, it's that the Det secondary continually blew coverage. It was painful to watch.

With Campbell's improvement, and DET likely to bite on the play-action just like they often did against Westbrook, it'll only take 2-4 passing plays for Randel El to put together a very nice game.

I understand, and agree, with what's been said about Cooley. He'll be a main target. But because of the play-action bites, Detroit is vulnerable to 'the big play'. Cooley is less likely to be involved in that. And, if I could guess at the DET game-plan, if they can contain Portis, their secondary won't be so freakin' jumpy and actually stick to coverage.

I dropped Reggie Brown for ARE as I needed somebody to replace Boldin.

Thanks for this post...you guys got me a much needed 10 points in non-PPR.

Too bad he pulled his hammy and didn't play the 2nd half. He was on pace for a monster game. Not that I'm complaining....10 points > 0 points!

Cheers.

Any Was homers can tell us how long Randel El will be out?

Well, not out, but Moss was hobbled most of the second half of last year with either a groin or hamstring problem, which was when Campbell started and when he clicked with ARE. Moss was greatly slowed and not nearly the same player then that you saw in 2005. You never saw Brunell hook up with ARE, but Campbell has done so routinely as a start.

I doubt anyone on the team could tell you how long he'll be out right now. He left the game with a hamstring injury and didn't come back. It'll probably be tomorrow or Tuesday before the severity of the injury is known and any kind of return timeline is laid out.

He appeared to walking around fairly well after the injury. Also, Gibbs said in his postgame PC that he believes it's a "high ham." From what I hear, that's better than a "low ham." But, Gibbs was also careful to say that that may not be a correct diagnosis.

This is the best info available now, from the Washington Times:
The Redskins lost receiver Antwaan Randle El (seven catches, 100 yards) to a strained hamstring on the final play of the first half and linebacker Marcus Washington (sack, forced fumble) to a similar ailment on Detroit's field goal drive late in the third quarter. Redskins director of medicine Bubba Tyer said both are day-to-day.

Bump.... Any injury update?

"I have great range of motion, but it's just sore right now," Randle El said. "I had a hamstring in my right [leg] before, but it wasn't like this. I almost feel like it's a cramp where I need to stretch it, but they tell me not stretch it. We'll see how it plays out, but I will be playing Sunday. It's just a matter of getting some rest, some treatment and some ice, just letting it heal a little bit."

Randle El, who has never missed a game in his six seasons, injured the hamstring on the 37-yard catch that set up Washington's second touchdown in its 34-3 rout of Detroit. Randle El had seven catches, one shy of his career high, and 100 yards but didn't return in the second half. Reche Caldwell, Keenan McCardell and Brandon Lloyd split his duties in the second half.
