Random NFL Trivia (1 Viewer)

Looks like they were both 28 and both led the league in completions and attempts. Is that on the right track?

Brees' birthday is 5 days before Kenney's, so maybe the youngest player to lead the league in both completions and attempts?

Well, according to this guy...

....Kenney was the first woman to pass for 4,000 yards in an NFL season, but could only manage a 6-10 record.

Soooo.....is Brees the woman to throw for the most yards in a season for a team without having a winning record? (Not that I know if Brees is actually a female. I'm just throwing darts here.)

People are on the right track here, but still pretty far away.

It's got nothing to do with age. Every QB has the chance to do this every year.

As hard and obscure as this question might seem, it's about 1000 times easier than asking "Before Drew Brees, who......" with Bill Kenney being the answer.

1) :) :)2) :) Culpepper had 4717 in Minnesota for a 8-8 record in 2004. The same year, Trent Green had 4591 yards, but led the Chiefs to a 7-9 record.

But I like this line of thinking.

But are they women? ;)

Yeah, I wasn't sure on that as I'm at work and didn't have a real good chance to check out the idea before I posted. I was just pretty sure he had more than "Ms. Kenney" did.

Mrs. Culpepper might be butch, but anybody that's seen her play shouldn't have any doubt about her gender.

Led the league in completions, but not passing yardage?

Bah, just checked myself. That's not it(though there was about an 11 year run after Kenney of the same guy leading in both each year.)

I give up.

Hint: The answer begins "Drew Brees, and before him Bill Kenney, holds the record for most passing yards in a season in which ..."

Led the league in a stat I don't care about?
:goodposting: I've stared at this for a while and have concluded it's some random XX per XX stat that means nothing
:goodposting: I've been trying to figure this out for hours now and I can't come up with anything. Whatever it is it's not important enough to make the NFL record book online.
It's a good trivia question because you're not going to be able to search for the answer online using any sort of normal search. It's a reasonable trivia question, I think, because once you think you have the answer, you do have the ability to check online.(For example, if it was something like "Drew Brees has the most passing yards of any QB 6'0 or shorter, you wouldn't be able to find that in an NFL record book, but you could check the answer online pretty easily. But the actual answer has nothing to do with any distinctive characteristic of Drew Brees, such as his height, his hometown, where he was drafted, etc.)

Jersey #9?
Nope. While I guess you could technically change your number, it's really something any QB could break next year. It's not Brees specific at all, although it is partially outside of his control (along the lines of his team making or missing the playoffs).

A couple more hints.

Along the same lines, Brian Griese, 2004, has the highest QB rating of any QB in a season in which....

Before him, Steve Deberg, 1990, had the highest QB rating of any QB in a season in which ....

I really hope this doesn't end up like golf holes. But I do think Griese and Deberg, and Brees and Kinney, should get some recognition for a pretty impressive, if obscure, accomplishment.

He had no other offensive Pro Bowlers on the team?

Actually it might be where the QB doesn't make the Pro Bowl - Brees didn't. had to look that up.

His team did not have Pro Bowl receiver? And no Pro Bowl TE or RB either..

Yup.I think that's pretty interesting. I'm less impressed with yardage stats like Brees and Kenney, but it does say something to throw for so many yards and have no other Pro Bowlers on your offense. As far as DeBerg and Griese goes, that's probably even more impressive. DeBerg's season was absolutely incredible -- I feel pretty confident in saying 23 TD, 4 INT, 7.8 Y/A is the best season ever by a QB without any Pro Bowlers on his team. Brees and Kenney had incredible years, too. Using the eyeball test, DeBerg ironically did play with four offensive guys who made a Pro Bowl at some point -- Mike Webster, John Alt, Dave Szott, Christian Okoye. And when his center wasn't playing, the backup C -- Tim Grunhard -- made a Pro Bowl down the line, too.

Well we all know Colston was robbed. Driver had no business getting in over him. Kenney made the Pro Bowl himself. So really Brees has the most yards with absolutely no Pro Bowlers on the entire team, including himself.:bittersaintsfan:

Looking at Kenny's and his team's stats, I'll guess it was something like the greatest number of passing attempts more than rushing attempts.
