Obviously if you are looking at any of these guys you are in a start 2QB league or you are totally screwed and should start prepping for bball.

Out of the top group I like Gradkowski the best. Fitzpatrick has never done anything and Clausen has never seemed like a good prospect to me but I'd be interested to listen to folks who think otherwise.

From the bottom group, I'd after last night Freeman is atop this list but with Alex Smith as a close second. Henne is pretty unexciting. Shaun Hill might be the better way to go as Stafford is very doubtful to play this coming week and will most likely not return the week after that either.

Bradford's on the WW in my league and I have Stafford as my QB2. I'm very tempted to drop Stafford instead of waiting for him to come back. Bradford has played well and there's nothing to fear about his schedule.

My QB position is a revolving door right now as I wait for Big Ben to return. I'm intrigued by Freeman, but his matchup (Pitt) is horrible so I'll look elsewhere for this week. I think Orton is still available on our waiver wire (10 team league)

I would grab Orton immediately.

Right now I would rank them (long-term) Freeman, Smith, Gradkowski, Henne, Clausen, Wallace, Fitzpatrick, Hall

Max Hall is an intriguing flyer in my league. I can hold 4 starting (NFL wise) QB's only but I can add as many as 4 other QB's on the team. I think I might stash him for when he eventually gets the nod or Anderson gets killed. He's got Fitz, Breaston, Beanie and Hightower as weapons. Might be a good late season play.

I'm amazed at how underrated Freeman is. He should have been drafted as a QB2 in all leagues. The signs were there in camp and preseason that he would be much improved this year.

Not that i have an urgent need at QB, but having drafted one of the elite QB's (Rodgers), my backup is a little less solid (Sanchez), so I can see there might be a need to upgrade/play the WW at the QB position for that one bye week, and not just for people playing 2QB leagues (granted if Rodgers breaks a leg tomorrow, my season goes down the drain).

So for backup purposes, i would eliminate the 3 new ones you mentionned: Clausen is unproven and lacks experience, the other 2's pasts are so spotty and scary I would need to see a string of postiive performances to cinvince me they are capable of something half decent on those teams. This only really leaves Henne, Freeman, Hill and Alex Smith.

I would have to lean towards Henne in general just because he has a rock solid OL, a potent running game to keep defenses honest, and Brandon Marshall. And he has in the past put up some big games. Freeman is breaking out but remains unproven over the long run. I want to think Alex Smith has turned the corner after seeing him against the 49ers but he may stink up the joint as soon as next week. As for Shaun Hill... i dont know what to make of it. Maybe i'm bering negatively influenced by the fact that it's the Lions - and i know they're radically improved this year - but i feel like i've been so used to QB's in Detroit being erratic and error-prone that even with Megatron and Best, i remain weary of Hill. Plus his track record is spotty.

So in order, i'd probably go Henne, Freeman, Hill or Smith dependingon the matchup

I think his thumb injury deterred people (including myself)

Freudian slip?

I initially thought Freeman, but I may change my claim to Hill. Best and CJ are major weapons, and they will most likely be down a lot this year.

Agree w/all your rankings -- but if Hall is taking over for DA I'd have to put him infront of Wallace and Fitz at the very least based on weapons... and probably right behind Freeman just because of possible ceiling. Been hearing a lot of buzz about him.

I'm really beginning to think Stafford might be back for week 4. The Lions are being quiet about his status and that could be because of the fact that he might be ready to play by this week, and they don't want to tip their hand to the Vikes. Longshot I know but this kid is tough and heals fast.
