Rankings (1 Viewer)

I'm about to take part in a 50 round dynasty baseball draft. Anyone know where I can find some good current player rankings?

Thank you!

That's a tough question because there are multiple strategies depending on your planning horizon. I wouldn't set mine out too far. You want to be competitive in the early years--prospects happen every year and the hit rate is well under 100%, even for the can't miss guys.

I'd suggest starting with a basic redraft list. Downgrade old and declining players on your list but don't overlook them completely. I wouldn't necessarily upgrade young players too much though. Let somebody else pick MiLB prospects three rounds too early. I'd also wait on closers as long as possible because their value is so role specific. Even with 50 man rosters, future closers will be available on the waiver wire.

I'm in year 6 of one and it really depends on your competition, but ours love...LOVE prospects. The problem is, as Eephus eluded to, the hit rate is not good.

Not sure how much yours differs from mine, but we have 40 man rosters, 25 keepers, and a 12 player developmental squad. The wrinkle is in developmental squad eligibility. Once a player has any appearance in the majors he is no longer devy eligible, which makes that 25 keeper number all that much smaller.

If your keeper setup is anything similar to that then approaching with a redraft focus makes even more sense. You don't want a team full of guys 30+, but you really don't want the average age of your team to be 23 either.

I skimmed a couple of position and I think they're generally pretty good rankings. The declining 1B (Pujols, Martinez, Ortiz) aren't downgraded too much. The top prospect SS are maybe a bit higher (Correa #6, Russell #7) than I'd put guys who won't contribute anything this year. But other than Hanley, I couldn't make a strong case For the SS below Russell being significantly better picks.
